There's a bit of a difference between in game skins and horse armour-type things and levels etc. I don't really get why people would pay for skins, especially in a 2 player game where your mate would just laugh at you, but I'm not gonna tell you what you can buy.

If they put a map-pack as dlc I'd be pissed, because they should have put it in the initial game.
It's kind of irrelevant to me what the DLC consists of to be honest, the fact that day one DLC exists is for one reason only and that is pure greed. I am genuinely surprised that Valve would sink that low, they used to be the good guys.
The fact that the game exists at all is pure greed though, no?

Who cares about Metacritic user reviews? Every single user review I've read there so far have been either unbelivably stupid or not even about the game at all.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04/19/lets-address-some-portal-2-nonsense/

Link discusses the following assertions:

1) Portal 2 is 4 hours long
2) Day 1 DLC
3) Console port
4) The Potato Sack ARG was a con

Regarding Day 1 DLC, it says:

There is no ?Day 1 DLC?. There is the daft store, with all the overpriced guff that aesthetically augments your co-op character for the enjoyment of the one other person you?re playing with. I?m very happy to be disparaging about such silly expense, but it absolutely isn?t missing content for the game being charged for on top of the box price. That is something that gets me really riled, and something that I think openly mocks the customer ? discovering that even though they?ve paid for the game, if they want to full version with all the missions/levels/weapons, then they need to pay more. But that?s in no way the case here. You?re not missing out on anything, but for some pointless skins and hats for the co-op character that make no difference at all to the game.

Since when was there Day One DLC for Portal 2? I can't see it anywhere, does anyone have a link?
http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/04/19/portal-2-has-item-store-trading-coming-soon

I did post this earlier in this thread. Please try just using google next time :/
I did a Google search, and all I got was a post on the Giant Bomb forums about this Metabombing and how they're probably confusing/trolling about the Potato Sack. Anyway, cheers for the link and it doesn't seem too unreasonable, it's not game-changing stuff or anything.

Actually it received more scored from professional reviewers than DA2 so I guess I can call bullshit on this one...not that I would buy it or anything.

Why do people complain about DLC when it has NO effect on gameplay what so ever. I mean, the Team Fortress Mann Store is much worse, considering the items you buy have no IC effect. From what we have seen of the Portal store its only appearance and shinyness. No Extra levels, no Extra weapons, No ability to actually take a gun, or make four portals at once (perhaps green and black).

I mean, its not going to change or alter anything.

Whether it's 'game changing' or not is irrelevant. It's basically what Notch took the piss out of on April fools. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.274486]

To repeat: There is NO day 1 DLC.
You're not missing out on anything, but for some pointless skins and hats for the co-op character that make no difference at all to the game.

Anyone on this forum spewing Portal 2 hate is likely part of the /v/ collective.

Okay - but who whines about the lack of something pointless?

DLC is fine. Halo 2 had good DLC, as did Star Wars Battlefront II.

Day 1, 'pay money to unlock content already on disc' is fucking revolting.
Are they seriously doing the Capcom thing? If that is really what is happening here I'm very disappointed in Valve.

EDIT

Wait that's it? That's what people are bitching about!? -sigh-

The way people are making it sound, you would have thought they locked the co-op and forced you to pay to use it. Talk about misinformation.

Oh, suddenly being irate at milking money out of gamers for content they paid for, that's on the disk, is 'whining' or 'spewing'?

Come back when you're capable of being a grown up and talking sensibly.

Actually, I just went to metacritic and if you do you'll notice a MASSIVE gulf between actual critic reviews (mostly 100) and user reviews (less than 10). Note that some of the complaints are retarded
"You can dismiss this as "trolling" or whatever you want (because somebody couldn't POSSIBLY not like the game) but it was a huge let down for me. Feels like an incomplete game, only 4-6 hours of game play and it's game play that is basically copy and pasted from Portal 1. Huge amount of day 1 DLC was kind of a slap in the face too. Collapse"
I give you this
http://www.youtube.com/user/IGNentertainment#p/u/0/IenHIx86yoA
for those who don't have the time to read it, IGN goes through about 3 gels and said "that this is barely scratching the surface"
Who are you going to believe I.G.N. or trolls?
wait Im confused do you hate portal or are you quoting a troll?

Bill Bread needs to troll harder, and perhaps pick up some of his buddies from /v/ or /b/ to help him out.

The fact of the matter is a few years back, the Portal store wouldn't have existed, or, if it had, it would've been virtual currency. We wouldn't be spending money for a thumbs-up gesture or a color scheme. [iWe'd[/i] be unlocking it through constant play of the game we paid for. I'd prefer to pay more for Portal 2 at retail than to have Day 1 DLC. I'm serious. I'd prefer to pay $80+ for all the DLC instead of having that damned store.

There was just a thread about something like this today, if VALVe is really so strapped for cash that they need the damned Mann store or the Portal store, I'd rather pay more at retail, or do that Extra Credit thing where I pay less at retail and pay more for the rest of the features.

Ahh, the internet, where everyone's who has a negative opinion is trolling. "VEE AR DE DECIDERS OF VHAT IS TROLLING, /v/ IS TROLLING AND IS FASCIST" *Massive irony*

That said, Portal 2's new store for shrugs and colors....lol, are you people seriously whining like lil-babies over that? ITS NOT EXTRA CONTENT, ITS COLORS AND EMOTES FOR A 2 PLAYER COOP GAME.

Seriously. I feel like I'm the only sane person on the bloody planet. Like the TF2 hat store, whooo, now I can really play now my heavy has a hat in the shape of a potato.
