"Duke Nuke Forever dumbed down for consoles" LOL, this has made my day.

How can you dumb down Duke Nukem for consoles? WTF, Duke Nukem is hardly the most sophisticated pc game series ever and I find it astounding that lack of buttons on a console controller can be consider a valid excuse for a two weapon limit. Setting aside that many previous generation fps's on consoles somehow mananged it and many still do *cough* Half Life 2, *cough* Fallout, *cough* Borderlands. Not so much as dumbing down for console players, more like dumbed down for players who have the IQ of an amoeba who has taken a few blows to the nucleus.

I wasn't going to pick up DNF anyway, not really a fan of the Duke and I always expected DNF to crash and burn when it was released, although admittedly I'm little suprise why. I expected the long wait for the release would be the final nail in DNF, as something that takes over a decade to make can never even come close to expectatiosn. Instead it seems Duke having set out to buck the trends in modern fps's has fallen victim to same trappings these other current gen fps's have fallen into, quite ironic erm... humorously tragic.

Really, they did an extra amount of work to dumb it down for the half a handful of dyslexic twats wouldn't be overwhelmed?.
Strange... I'm dyslexic and haven't yet been confused by more complex gaming.

As for the game we're suprised that a team making an FPS for consoles made a halo clone?

Bullcrap! You're so full of it developers you deserve to have your game sell horribly and disappoint millions of people. It's called a radial damned menu. Okay so there's a flipping pause. We can deal. We can also have weapon melee attacks. Too many weapons has never been a problem on console. You're just lazy by the sound of it.

It has nothing to do with consoles despite yer usual misleading title on here but more with the developers making bad decisions and trying to justify them in a pathetic way.
Its not my title, but go ahead and just keep your head in the sand.
Maybe you could consider not trolling and instead be constructive. Nothing you have said has any constructive use and only serves to incite a flame war.

Also, you apparently don't know that much about PC gaming. Dying huh? Go tell that to Blizzard, Valve, or Bioware for example.

Steam? WoW? Yeah they are totally unsuccessful and definitely not making obscene amounts of money and have a large user base.
Heh WoW, dont get me started.

Steam is one of holdouts that are managing to hold their own and more power to them because I prefer PC gaming. I know plenty about it despite your assumption (it just makes an ass of you, not me) and I know enough about to spot the trend of fewer non MMO and fewer non flight/space/driving whatever sims with thier particular control needs are being released solely for or even particularly with pc gaming in mind. More and more its ports from console games, and pc gaming is suffering for it.

Your disagreeing with me doesn't mean I know less than you. It just means your less able to accept the future in that console gaming is going to push pc gaming further and further into the fringe.
I'm not the one claiming to have knowledge of the future. You don't know what will happen. You've responded negatively to everyone who has disagreed with you. You clearly have the mindset that someone who does not share your opinion is wrong. In any event you're still responding in a very aggressive and trollish way, so I have no further plans to read anything you say.

I wasn't aware gamepads were the same as people. I don't give a shit if its the common connotation, it doesn't apply in this context because that's not what he's talking about.
Listen... to those who don't know the context - like I did not a few weeks ago - what else are they supposed to think? They probably think the term is insulting just like I do, and I gave my reasons why, while you don't. Okay. Fine. That's it. End of discussion.

I don't like having my intelligence insulted however indirect or unintentional it may be - whether it be by you, the OP, the editors of this crap-saccharine site, or the developers who make the game we trip about on a daily basis - just because I and countless others happened to play on a console.

On that note, this exchange is over. I've already discussed my views and I'll stick by those sentiments until enough stuff changes that makes me view things differently; there's really nothing else I need to say. Feel free to comment, but do know that you - or anyone - will not receive another message from me.

Good day, sir/madam.

So...they are dumbing it down by having choice and consequence? the two-weapon limit adds a situational aspect to the combat by having you put thought into what you are going to carry, not just have it be a cake-walk by being able to carry a weapon for each situation.

This is just nostalgic knee-jerk reaction from some pissy fans. Nothing to see here.
Hmm... Good point. Haven't thought of it like that.

But I think people are mad because they wanted to have a variety of weapons at their whim rather than just 2 and/or having to pick and choose between them.

See, there is something wrong when a sentence has "dumbed down" and "Duke Nukem" in the same breath.
How bad does it have to be to make that not an oxymoron, I wonder. Stupid Halo/Call of Duty mimicry. Would a "weapon wheel"have killed them? It worked fine for Resistance and Ratchet and Clank.

My thoughts exactly. Surely the only way you could dumb down a big gun shooter like DNF is by writing an URL on the gamebox that takes you to a let's play of someone else playing the game for you.

The two weapon limit and distance blur were obviously things put in for consoles. But it's still the dev's fault for not changing those things on the PC version. At least get good ratings on one platform. It will probably settle at a low 70s score on Metacritic but still sell fairly well.

We can only hope that by the time it drops in North America, European modders have removed the two weapon limit and distance blur. It would likely be a pretty darn good game without those things.
do you happen to know how moddable the engine they used is? not much happened for borderlands except for additional options like fixed fov etc. but it might be a different engine. Anyway would like to know about that.

We have waited 12 years and now we're gonna get Duke that can't hold more than 2 weapons, has regenerative health and simple melee attack? And their explanation is "sorry, can't make it work on consoles so we butchered it for everybody". But it can work on consoles. And even if it couldn't it still wouldn't explain why PC version had to suffer for it.

Its bittersweet for me, Because I love pc games too, but it is amusing to see these head in the sand PC elitists react every time its revealed that consoles are setting the trends now, and pc gaming is slowly dying.

DING DING DING!

And I'm mostly a console player myself, so my sharing this sentiment counts for double. Silly argument person.

The demo was disappointing, but I still have hope for the full game. The fact that you can't carry 9 weapons like the old days with a big disappointment. Oh well. As long as the game itself is still fun I won't ***** about minor design issues.

Unfortunately the demo wasn't all that much fun.

wow i'd like to note that we went till page nine since someone made the counterreality statement that pc gaming is dying. pc gaming is the biggest revenue stream for most publishers and its heavily growing. Activison makes 70% of their money from wow and the rest is evenly split and the rest is evenly split revenue from multiplatform releases. The last part of the picture is fun to btw.

I'm actually surprised by that too. Honestly, guy decides to stir up trouble and we usually are like BAM! Shut you down in a single gesture. I hope we're not slipping.
