Damn. If the Escapist made all the decisions, FPS would be the only thing left.

I don't think it over complicates, I think you're over simplifying.
I don't know anyone who has had trouble with the number of Pokemon or moves. If anyone does it just means they haven't played it enough or aren't too clever.
People here that liked Pokemon in their past vilify the newer games for no good reason, and newer species is commonly their argument why everything past Kanto/Johto sucks.

Mario. Sonic took a small step in the right direction with Unleashed, but I have never enjoyed a Mario game.

For the record, Pokemon as a TV series must die, but I plan on picking up Platinum version tomorrow.
Are you serious? How can anyone not enjoy Mario? It was my gateway game. It opened my eyes to the wonder of gaming. I guess it is possible but inner Nintendo Fanboy just had to say something.

Back on topic, I think that no franchise should ever be killed off entirely. Every franchise has the potential to entertain and as long as the publisher is willing to create something that is truly worthy of their fans. If the publisher cannot do this, they should stop making games that disgrace the franchise and pass the franchise on to someone who can but then again that might be asking too much.

Final Fantasy above all things.

Sidenote:
more pokemon games means more attacks, abilities, more items and more pokemon.
This is a GOOD thing.
No one plays the game for the story, we play it to make team, EV train and to dominate cunts.
The problem is its getting out of hand. They have, what, some 550 Pokemon now? Its just overcomplicating the formulaa.
I don't think it over complicates, I think you're over simplifying.
I don't know anyone who has had trouble with the number of Pokemon or moves. If anyone does it just means they haven't played it enough or aren't too clever.

If people do have a real problem with the number of Pokemon or attacks they can just use the internet for help. If they don't have internet (lol) then the in game help is very in-depth anyway.

More pokemon is a good thing.
Endless numbers of attacks is a great thing.
Being able to customize any team you want whether it be stats, type, abilities or even generation has made the game levels above the other games.
Haven't you ever wanted moves to replace the annoyance of Hyper Beam???

I understand if you don't agree but I will defend Pokemon as a game to the death.
More saying it stretches the end purpose to an unreasonable length, as well as meaning (a) the area you need to cover is too big, or (b) there are more specis in the one area, meaning its harder to find the one you want. If you're viewing it as a traditional RPG and saying you take what you get, its a good thing, but from the perspective of what made Pokemon blow my mind...

I imagine that would be annoying. Luckily it doesn't happen.
The new games have a 150 Pokemon pokedex.
Once you've seen them all you get the nationaldex. Once you have the national dex you can get older Pokemon via inserting your GBA cartridge to find them, using swarms, new fishing areas and transferring from the GBA cartridge.
They also saw your problem as a problem.

Imagine if Diamond was the first of the series.
Your mind would have blown with 100 times the blood splatter.

Mario and sonic. if you count those ea football games a franchise then that too. I just consider them a cruel trick to people who spends more time on a fantasy football league than in a real league, to pay 60$+ USD for a roster update and some minor change in gameplay.

FIFA games. Release them every 3-4 years so it's actually worth buying the newest one.
FIFA, Madden, NHL, NCAA football.... I get a new one almost every year but I also let them cycle atleast two, 3 years before I even bother so if I get the new NHL 2010.. I wont get any of the others new until the 2011 season

My rule of thumb is one game per sport per console and it lasts me until I get the next one. If I really want a roster update, I can find existing players' new stats on GameFAQs and I can use the create-a-player feature to add in new ones, but usually I tend to play franchise modes for ages and ages with the original team I started with.

I challenge someone to post FF here
You were ninja'd.

EA games. All of them. Stop making them and give them to other, better developers, like Valve or Bioware.
No, I wouldn't like to recieve NHL 2010 in 2012 thank you.

Not sure how people can say Final Fantasy needs to die, as each of them are so different they could be different games...

Nobody on this thread has complained about a game being rubbish without having played them.
I didn't say that, I said they were being egotistical douches.
A bit like you're being on this thread too i suppose.
I'm just putting it as simply as possible as you didn't seem to understand the first time. It is true that the only thing that comes of these threads is people saying that certain franchises that they don't like should no longer exist and never do they consider that others may believe differently. This often results in flamewar, am I to be called an egotistical douche for trying to prevent flamewar?
I really don't care if this thread becomes a flame war. I lit the torch, and they can either carry it or burn people with it.

Final Fantasy has overstayed it's welcome when it went to 3D. I mean, 6 was a masterpiece of RPG gaming and 9 was the only good 3D final fantasy. Everything after 6, with the exception of 9, is an abortion of emo feelings and androgyny...

Also, someone needs to put Sonic down. I'm a huge Sonic fan and Sega has been whoring him out worse than Nintendo has been doing Mario and Pokemon.

Halo, Final Fantasy, and Sonic need to be put out of their misery. Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are on my watch list.

Pokemon
Mario
Zelda
Star Wars (this one probably should have happened a while ago.)

The cash cows are well and truly zombified.
