We all have that one video game franchise that was fun for a while but 15 installments later it has become a hellish abomination. Post the video game franchise you want to end here.

I say Pokemon. It was fun when I was 10 but 12 games later it needs to be put to bed. The cash cow has been milked dry. It is time to eliminate these annoying creatures. Metapod smoothies anyone?

I think they at least need to do something more inventive with the Pokémon games.Like an MMORPG or something, but the whole "Beating the 8 Gym Leaders and defeat the pokémon on the box to save the world from Team somethingorother, then beat the pókemon league before completing the pókedex and getting a congratulatory pat on the back and dying a little inside."

Anyone here for Pokemon Kart?
I couldn't of said it better my self.
If I'm spending that much time on a game,I better feel like I got something out of it, other than a pat on the back.
FUN would be nice, not saying that the first couple of times its not,it just gets repetitive after awhile.

1.go in to the wild
2.wait until you get something(kind of sounds like fishing)
3.if it is not the one your looking for run
3.5 repeat step 1 and 2 until desired Pokemon
4.If it is,fight it and catch it (assuming you don't kill it because your Pokemon is too strong,if it is go back to step 1)
5.you got another Pokemon yeah, now you get to.....

1.go in to the wild
2.wait until you get something(kind of sounds like fishing)
3.if it is too strong you run,or battle it with a different Pokemon
4.repeat until it has enough exp to go up one level(which takes almost forever)
5.repeat until...your battery runs out,an intelligent thought enters your brain that says
"this is not fun",or your hands fall off, what ever comes first.

Now you do this with how many Pokemon?????
No wonder that ash,the main character in the TV show, has not got any father on his quest to become a Pokemon master. The whole process take so long that the people who made Pokemon, will eventfully run out of ideas and cancel it before he even caught all of the original 150.

The really clever things is,thay have a winning formula, and the target audience (eg 5 year olds) don't know any different.
And i myself will keep buying the games because they're so darn addictive.
Sadly, they have beaten us,the gaming community, with their evil scheme :'(

If they're going to make a bajillion war games and five-bajillion sports games, I'd like six-bajillion OTHER types of games to even things out.

Silent Hill... the series lost it's edge as soon as the development left Japan. Now it's nothing more than a license sucking shadow of its amazingly scary former self.

Kingdom Hearts, unless they're willing to make an ACTUAL SEQUEL!! Spin-offs can bite my ass!

Really, though, Halo isn't really that great a choice for one that needs to die. It made three games to complete the story, they're making one expansion pack to give a view of the Haloverse from a different perspective, and an RTS spin-off that actually turned out half-decent, and proved that the 360 can effectively control an RTS game.

If they leave it at that for at least 5 years, I'm fine with it.

Call of Duty, on the other hand, should leave. They've finally gotten rid of the CoD3 stench that has plagued them with the last two, they should quit while they're ahead. They don't have Halo's excuse of cleaning up the storyline.

The problem is not that the franchises are lasting too long and they need to die out, the problem is the games are bad. A bad game is a bad game, whether its a sequal or not. I would love to play a new sonic game because he's a cool character (can be), but they all suck. Its not poor old sonic's fault, its the idiot game creators who put him in shitastic games.
the majority of the franchises mentioned in this post i would love to see more of as long as the games are good!

Franchises should not die, poor games should.

* oh and final fantasy will never die, its practically a new game and experience every time.

Please SEGA/Nintendo, kill off sonic. I don't want to see it go down even more into the tar pit it's stuck in.

I don't understand why some people HATE video games or video game franchises. They may not be good, but if you don't like them, then don't buy them- nobody's forcing you to.

Call of Duty, four's a good number, five is pushing it, six is a bit too much, time to end it while we still have good memories of it.

Guess we've all witnessed the marvelous transition from creativity to laziness. And at last it's laziness that wins.

Even though GTA San Andreas is one of my favorites, I'm close to saying GTA. But then they released Chinatown Wars and showed us that GTA can still be fun.

Now I have to say Mortal Kombat. That's just gotten worse over the years but they really jumped the shark with the DC thing. That was pure lame.

I don't think any series deserve to die. Someone out there is having fun with the latest incarnations after all. The one series I would say needs a kick up the arse is Brothers in Arms, Medal of Honor, and the WW2 COD games. Also Soul Calibur seems to have lost its way a little.

Call of Duty. I would say Guitar Hero because they're just whoring it out for money, but still, always having new songs is never a bad thing.

Call of Duty has gone on for long enough. I wouldn't mind if it just had a different name but once you get up to that many games, it's time to stop.
