Incoming Marvel VS Disney game.

Why is everyone surprised Marvel was sold? The comic book industry has been kept alive on an iron lung for more then a decade now. They've never really recovered from the collectors bubble bursting. I'm more surprised they didn't sell out to a bigger company earlier.

People! The Disney folks will not be writing the comics! They will simply own company. Basically we'll see Disney on the poster of spiderman 4 and we'll proably see the X-Men In kingdom hearts. Stop acting as if this is Armeggadon.

ALL IS LOST ALL IS LOST!!!!!!!!

but seriously what about deadpool and other heroes????
imagine all the life lessons we'll learn, "deadpool but down that gun and learn to use your words", "kids i know he looks different but try to include him".

this is the biggest mistake marvel will make.

i gess its official then, DC is better.

RIP Marvel, you shall be missed.

Am I the only one who realizes that this may now mean that Joe Quesada is no longer in charge? How is that a bad thing?
My money says that Q stays.

Now with Disney in charge it is almost a 'better the devil you know' situation.

That sucks. I know they won't be writing the comics, but they probably will be making bastardized versions of the heroes in the upcoming movies.

what? WHAT?!

they better not try to make a marvel kingdom hearts. they barely got away with regular kingdom hearts by making it FUCKING BRILLIANT.

how did they think this would help them in anyway? they're just going to kill marvel and loose all that money

*grumble*

I will hold judgement until they do something with Marvel. I ask that everyone stop complaining until Disney actually utilizes Marvel. Something awesome may come from this or it could be a disaster.

Time to play the devil's advocate: You are all over-reacting. Disney may own the rights to Marvel, but that doesn't necessarily mean Disney is going to exercise creative control over the comics, making them kid-friendly. We'll still have the same authors and same artists working on the same stories. The only thing I see coming out of this is that now Marvel has the financial backing of Disney, and that's a good thing. So stop acting like the world is ending and all your favorite comics will soon be aimed at 5-year old, because I highly doubt that will happen.

I don't think Disney will tone down Marvel, just look at Disney owned Touchtone Pictures for example. They've operated TP for years to make mature and adult films like: "Rushmore," O Brother Where Art Thou?," and the forthcoming "Surrogates."

What I find amazing is that a company with such a wide reach and so desperate to stay on the top of the mountain would stake 4 BILLION dollars on a collection of characters that have been ludicrously milked of their usefulness as of late. (Last I heard Marvel Studios was considering making "Werewolf By Night" into a film - clearly they're out of intellectual properties to franchise.) This deal seems VERY sweet for Marvel, but I believe Disney bought way too high and will only see their investment depreciate - especially in this volatile world economy.

The only reasoning I can think of for the buyout is that Disney wants an easy paycheck. They can sit back and just collect all the fees, residuals, and licensing money made from "Spiderman the Backpack," "Cyclops the Can Opener," and the "Official Dazzler and Speedball Wastes of Money," all while never having to lift a finger.

As for the comics, I REALLY doubt that someone will prance into Marvel's NY office and declare, "Well, I never have read any of these 'Comic-ed Books,' but I don't think children need to see this half naked man with the fist-knives stabbing people. What if some child tried to recreate Mr Fist-knives here? Hmmm? Well, we won't have that anymore! Let's replace him with a cleaner cut young teen named 'Wolvy' who loves to rock-and-roll and to obey his parents! Now, let's go make these novels less graphic!"

Disney knows better than to kill their cash cow when it's still got quarters falling from it's money teats.
