I liked the original Naruto, the fact that they were kids made their motives make sense somehow. But I just can't force myself to watch Shippuuden, hate it.
Yeah, more or less. I think I have all of the original anime on DVDs stashed on my tower.

Stopped watching Shippuuden at about 53 or so. Also, the latest episode has spawned so many stupidly bad drawn gifs...

Note - all those gifs are from the real episode. Fan-made animations were tons of times better.

no, childish, there i said it
That's because the main character starts out as an obnoxious twelve year old. Every other character berates him for it. The anime itself it not juvenile.

Naruto was fine until we reached an arc that I nicknamed "Filler Hell". There is so much filler that I wanted to strangle someone. It tried to make us care about characters that we would never, ever see around, and I just hated every second of it, especially because most of the filler episodes would be later resolved with Naruto pulling a Rasengan out of his ass.

I read some of the Shippuden, and it was okay, but it seemed like it was taking itself a little too seriously.

Why has this turned into a competition between Naruto and Ichigo?

Hypocritically, imo the thing that they did wrong with Bleach was that they powered him up too early and in one large go, instead of a slower evolution of the character like Naruto has had; first with Kage Bunshin, then Kyuubi powers, then Rasengan, then the various other forms of rasengan, then sage mode. Also, he picked up a bunch of little moves like water-walking and stuff as well.
Ichigo, however, went from basic Shinigami straight up to captain level in one leap, and then another massive leap up again with hollowfication; I can't see how much longer Bleach can keep bringing up even more ridiculously powerful enemies until it either has to end or it has to essentially cannabalise the series by making Soul Society into his enemy again for whatever reason and spend a few volumes having a big macho-mash-up between Ichigo and les capitainos, comprehende?

Back on topic: I do like Naruto, and I really hope that at soem point in the future they revisit the whole "inner sakura" thing. Seriously, wtf happened to that whole... thing? At first it was the only remotely interesting thing about her character.

Nostalgia, it reminds me a bit of my childhood. Characters always running on about honour, courage, bravery, friendship and all that jazz. Basically a guilty pleasure.

Manga > anime.

All day, every day.[footnote]Exceptions apply, void where prohibited.[/footnote]

The only good anime are ones that stay true to the feel of the manga, which Naruto occasionally does very well and occasionally fails horribly at. As a result, I have very mixed feelings about the anime.

The manga's pretty average across the board as far as I'm concerned, not as good as FMA or Mahou Sensei Negima!, but not so horrible that I didn't read it as far as I could a couple months ago.

I saw an episode once.

It was like watching a cartoon version of Power Rangers with terrible voiceovers. It was the sort of thing I might have liked when I was eight years old.

I do not understand why an adult, or even a teenager, would want to watch it.
That's because you watched it in English, which has absolutely TERRIBLE voice acting. As all dubs do.

I read the Manga and watched the first 220 episodes of Naruto (everything before shippuuden) but the Manga is way better, with no fillers whatsoever
I watched the 220 episodes and I like the filler, some of the stupid shit he does, like the ramen cooking school etc was rather funny. could never get into bleach, i loved Death Note up until they killed off L
I agree that the one episode fillers like ramen and kakashis mask episodes killed me with laughter but I didn't like the longer story fillers like Village of Hoshi.

to put this straight i actually like naruto and bleach.
i may not have said what i was trying to say very well so here's my point.
yes ichigo has had certain things just taught to him by other entities but so what so has naruto thus the whole ninja school thing he had to be taught those abilities.
but naruto had the fox demon from birth within him so his natural ability can be put into question. ichigo actually had some natural ability before ever meeting any other soul reapers so there is at least that. even though that also can be put into question when you find out his dad is a soul reaper.
both of them have called on another entity when the going gets rough with naruto its the nine tailed fox and with ichigo its his hollow form
so i say again what the hell is the difference really i mean really come on i shouldn't have to friggin put a damn text wall up when my point was decent enough already and it's not that i don't know what i am talking about either i watch both all the time it's just you may have misunderstood my comment or you are such a fanboy that you can't take a little criticism and have to attack my intelligence as i am sure will happen immediately after this post for any spelling or punctuation errors or that u stopped even using punctuation some time ago i favor of the endless run on sentence my post has become and will i fix it no cause i have used up enough time typing and i'm not going back so take that message board so her is my ending statement

bleach and naruto both are great both suck get over yourselves
