There were a lot of good characters in this episode, and the whole "war" between the Doctor's Gang and the Eyepatch-Ho' was incredibly cool; the reveal at the end didn't really strike me, though. It just seems a bit stupid and convoluted... I cannot believe Moffat's been planning that since Silence Of The Library. It's a massive twist, but it just doesn't seem to "work" for me! Like... why? What's the relevance of River being Amy's daughter? It just seems stupid!
Because Amy's daughter, due to being conceived on the TARDIS, is also part Time Lord. Which is significant for obvious reasons.

And is the little girl in the space suit. And is a weapon for the Doctor's enemies. I would think that would be rather plot important.

How could people of guessed the kids name, we only found it out today.

Also "The Doctor Will Return Autumn 2011"- pure douche baggery and unheard of in English TV, what the fuck are they playing at?

And Im falling in love with Moffats definition of the Doctor, Ive always been fascinated by his past as a soldier.

That too - but she is not necessarily the person who actually kills the Doctor as we never saw their face. (Although it has been implied, repeatedly.)

Splitting it up so they can give us a full 13-episode series without resorting to Love and Monsters-style Doctor-lite nonsense? Splitting it up so that they can return to the overarching story arcs of the old serials? HOW DARE THEY!
I actually think it's a good thing as I begin to lose interest about 10 weeks in to a 13-week series personally. So I will disagree on this one.

Great episode best of the current series so far. Roll on Autumn.

On a side note about Amy's kid being part Timelord because of being conceived in the Tardis, we now know why the Doctor thinks bunk beds are cool :p

I liked it I thought it was very good. I thought they were hinting that the doctor was the baby
for a second and I was like what? I am looking forward to Torchwood starting back up now.

Yeah, the 'river song' bit was kind of obvious from the moment I heard the name of the baby.

But you can never quite be sure if they're going to go with the obvious, or pull something unexpected last minute.

A pretty good episode, but it seems to be the end of a season again... D:

It's also so Moffat can concentrate on making Sherlock and give us a chance to see Torchwood in between the 2 halves of the series too.

Edit: Too be fair, while Love and Monsters was a pile of tripe. Blink was technically a Doctor-lite episode and was epic.

You realise that there are 3 other parts of the UK that watch the same TV as "English TV" right? ;)

Yes I do, sorry did I not use the precisely correct terminology.

When Amy asks the Doctor has he ever had children does that mean the Doctor's daughter (not the episode) from the original series is now non-canon?
s
The Doctor must have had children, the first Doctor's original companion was Susan his timelord granddaughter (along side two of her school teachers).

A fantastic episode around, I laughed hard at the comment from the Sontaran nurse about breast feeding!

In all fairness, Dr Who is an anomely anyway as most UK series that arn't soaps are only 6 episodes.

"Prime time" TV over here is just as likely to be twelve episodes long as it is six, but I get your point- don't think a british show has garnered quite the same following as Doctor Who in a long while.

Well I guess we know what the Tardis was trying to say before she went back into the tardis body.

So does that mean River is a Timelord? In which case is the River Song we know the oldest 13th regeneration? (seeing as she died in the Dr Who Library episodes with David Tennant as the Doctor.)
She doesn't have to have completed her regeneration cycle, she says in the library to the doctor that sacrificing himself would burn out both his hearts and kill him permanently, thats what it did to her, she could have had up to 11 regenerations left in the library (we know she has regenerated at least once.

On topic I hated it, I hate River Song and I hate that she is related to anyone as awesome as Amy. River is pretentious, annoying and a ***** to boot and now she's got up to 11 regenerations in reverse order to live through on the show. I may stop watching. Stephen Moffat may finally be the one to put me off Doctor Who.

Yeah but is it canon?

If everything broadcast was Canon then the Doctor is half-human on his mothers side.

So, I was checking the IMDB listing to see if the Silurian was from a previous episode I haven't seen and the listing showed a character as 'Jenny' from the Doctors daughter episode!

WTF? Did I not pay attention?

Don't tell me about it, I haven't even seen last week's episode yet. Stupid Space decided to show iRobot instead.

Torchwood, as a TV show to tide you over, can you ask for much more?
Didn't realise Sherlock only started filming last month though - can't wait for that in the autumn...and I'll give you that one, Blink was good. As was Turn Left. It's more the principle that I disagree with.
