The last two episodes haven't been the most amazing ones they've done. But the last half hour of this one made up for it. His last words made me cry haha.

The Mysterious Woman. Just wish they'd mentioned her name. Lost money because they didn't.
I can almost garantee it was his mother.

Anyway, she's bound to come up again, you may get a chance to win your money back.
I thought it was his mother also, and when the old guy was staring at her, after hearing rumours about him also being a timelord in disguise, and the whole dialogue between him and the doctor about being proud if they were father and son. I wouldn't be surprised if Bernard turned out to be his timelord father and mystery woman his mother.

I'll be watching. Really havent enjoyed the latest 'revamp', Poor Matt SMith sounds like hes going to get the shittiest end of the stick in terms of leftovers he has to pick up from the dross from the new arcs & 'time war'.
Also, Tennant is a very hard act to follow, hav'nt seen popularity like this since Baker

I'm not sure why people think David Tennant was so great his performances were quite simple. Good episode. What happened to the green people?

The new doctor is looking horrible, but I dunno, maybe he's a good actor, it's just his appearance doesn't suit the role at all.
That's been said about every Doctor from Troughton onwards. Indeed, if someone didn't say it I would be more worried. It's all about the writing, not the actor so much. Even McCoy could have been good if he'd had writers who weren't more suited to Rentaghost than SF.

Precisely why I thought Susan. I think Mother would be breaking the archetype too much (he's a parent figure, not a child), but children, and grandchildren, can be proud of their family too.

Just don't let him holler Geronimo every 5 minutes...that is already irritating.
Agreeded.

I know it's a little unfair as I've only seen bits and pieces of Matt Smith but I'm already a little worried. First there's Geronimo, which had be scrapted pretty fucking quickly as I've heard it twice so far and I'm all ready irritaited by it.

Second the guys very, very young, as is what looks to be his new assistant.

And thirdly I'm seriously worried that he's just going to be a David Tennant impersonator. Every great Doctor has brought something new to the character, their own little quirks. Christopher Eccleston had a smile that light his whole face. Tom Baker had thoughs crazy fucking eyes and jelly babys. David Tennant had a whole number of things, from that weird thing he does with his tongue to his whole "muh...umm...well...alright then!" moments.

Now if Matts Smiths thing is a annoying catch phrase, a bow tie and a gun...Well, let's just wait and see.

On the contarary, I think his appear is one of te things I think he could bring to the role. He's the first Doctor in a long time to look truelly alien, and he could certainly use that to his advantage, creating a less human, slightly more sinister character. Tht being said, he hasn't got age on his side once again.

I too was thinking this.

The second part was much better than the first, but it was still pretty terrible. Both as a standalone episode and a farewell to the Tenth Doctor. I'm grateful that Davies managed to bring the show back, but his writing fluxuates so wildly between greatness (Children of Earth) and stuff that's just painful to watch (The End of Time).

I'm glad Moffat is taking over; I'll just leave it at that.

Also, when he was regenerating, one of my friends yelled 'Oh no! It went wrong!' as Matt Smith appeared.

So did Patrick Troughton.

Oh, snap!

Actually, he looks more like a teacher in a boarding school. It's simple, out of place and different. Therefore, I like it. I just wish he'd lose the bow tie, I bloomin' hate those things.

If she's his child however it seems like a very, very odd choice of casting. I understand that Time Lords work differently (hell, the Doctor seems to be getting younger and younger with every transformation), but to use a women who must be in her fortys as his daughter?...That would just be weird. Unless she regenerates between now and when we next meet her (which we almost certainly will) it'll be a very odd family reunion, unless they have some incredible acting involved and manage to create the appearance of a young father meet his older daughter (which would be very odd but very touching to watch, and I think very odd is what they're trying to go for here with this new doctor, it certainly suits the new writer to use a lightly sinister and strange character).

It was good, better than most of RTD's episodes, although I still have problems with his pacing. I'm also glad that the more I see of the eleventh Doctor the more faith I have in him. When I first saw him, and the publicity pictures I thought the worst, but after the trailer, and with my continued faith in Stephen Moffat (who had the best episodes of Doctor Who, Coupling and Jekyll under his belt) I think things will turn out all right.

Susan was his Grand-daughter from the very first series. He left her behind in the 22nd century and apart from a brief reprise in the Five Doctors she hasn't been seen since. The Doctor has stated he was hurt by his children's deaths so I doubt we would see that generation again, but Susan is still available as an untied loose end.

Any one else get the feeling that at the end RTD was expressing his annoyance at leaving the series?

He jumped rather than being pushed so it's doubtful it's annoyance.
