Ok music, not much real talent. A lot of smoke and mirrors guitarwork. There are much better power metal bands.

Most of us probably wouldn't have any idea who Dragonforce was if it wasn't for them being in a guitar hero game.

I only like Soldiers of the Wasteland, Fury of the Storm, Valley of the Damned, Fields of Despair, and Black Fire. They're other stuff is okay though.

I don't like DragonForce because they're incredibly immature to me.

I mean, I can't take a band that would have this [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/02/Dragonforce_-_Ultra_Beatdown.jpg] as an album cover seriously.
Maybe they aren't asking you to take them seriously. Maybe its meant to be interpreted in a similar manner to Heavy Metal [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Metal_(magazine)]. I think the cover looks awesome. Its also done by one of the most respected concept artists in the world. One of the co-founders of Conceptart.org [http://conceptart.org/] and subsequently Massive Black Inc., the freelance concept art company. I think its probably more of a tongue in cheek thing. You can't think they're actually taking themselves seriously. I mean they called their album Ultra Beatdown (sounds like what Ultrajoe would do to a troll), I don't think they're doing it straight-faced.

Easily one of the most misunderstood bands ever. People generally right them off for always sounding the same in all they're songs or for their lyrics. But it seems to me no one pays any attention to their greatest qualities.

I personally enjoy DragonForce because they there are many layers of melody, harmony, and rhythm parts in their songs. Second in today's music industry when writing new material 90% of bands copy and paste what's popular. DragonForce on the other hand marches to the beat of their own drum, there's no other band like them.

And don't even try the "All their songs sound the same" argument here. If that's what you think listen to Heartbreak Armageddon, then My Spirit Will Go On, then Dawn Over a New World.

Also try to keep the hate to a minimum. I'm not trying to blast you for not liking them but simply being the one to step forward and say I like DragonForce.
i quite like them :) i mostly enjoy "Starfire" ;)

Yeah, while it may be true that not all of their songs sound the same, if 90% of them do, then it is a problem. You could throw three songs at me and say "See?" but I've heard the other ones, which all do sound the same.

Also, I keep reading in this thread that they are a terrible performance band, and the music is sped up, to which the response is "That's what they were like then! NOW they are good!"

Great bands don't need excuses made for them. Plain and simple.

All I'm going to say for now is that DragonForce is a good studio band, and whoever their producer is deserves an award.

Hell, he's probably the same guy that makes teen pop stars sound so robotically good.

They only became 'worth listening to' after Guitar Hero came out... thats what irks me the most about how popular culture works. I get people to listen to some of my music, thinking they will like it. They haven't heard of it, its not in the mainstream, so they decide its not good... if it was good it would be popular right?

Then guitar hero comes out and its like one of my friends' favourites. But... why didn't you like them when I got you to listen to them?

Also in a hilarious coincidence I got out of them before they even were in guitar hero and became popular, so now I'm stuck disliking them while other people rage about how great they are.

Also, if their songs aren't all the same explain this to me... [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIleK5CRcjo]

Pay special attention to how the music video fits all those songs, and also how similar they all sound... oh and come ON! Look at these song titles! Through the FIRE and the Flames, Star FIRE BLACK FIRE, BLACK Winter Night... and this isnt across an immense library of songs or anything... this is TWO ALBUMS! TWO!

I don't think they're bad per se but thats kind of astonishing to think about... also I don't much care for them anymore
That video explains it all pretty much. I tried getting into them at one point because my best friend was, and then i realized that they completely blew. The repetitiveness is certainly quite a drawback as well. The only song I like from them is "Dawn over a new world" because it has an almost 80sish solo in it. I think they got caught up in Through the Fire and the flames mania, wrote all their songs exactly like it, and turned into drunken bastards who don't deserve to sell another album

Dream Theater is way better, at least they can play their music.
Exactly. DT Plays with 100 times the passion that DF plays with and JP is 10 times the guitarist that Li AND Totman are. Not to mention Portnoy can actually play his drum beats and Labrie can keep his pitch the same live as he can on the albums. Dream Theater FTW!

How the hell could you say that without comparing John Myung to whoever the hell DF's bassist is, AND Dream Theater's keyboardist knocks whoever the hell that other guy is out of the water! I said hell too much in that sentence, you'll have to excuse me.....

Their whole image seems a tad immature. And Dragonforce sounds like a Power Rangers spin-off

Surely it's up to the an individual's opinion as to whether two songs (or all of them) sound the same, right?...Please? Just because you, yourself believe they have talent, and/or originality, doesn't mean everyone will.
They do nothing for me, personally. Nothing at all.

Except that Through the Fire and the Flames was on their 2007 album, long after their 2003 and 2004 albums had already been released... with similar sounding songs.

Nice try though.
