Strictly speaking, can't Britain bring in Canada to fight WITH us, rather than against us?

EU would win without a doubt.

The combined forces of the UK, Germany and France and the rest of Europe could tear North America limb from limb.

I think the American union. It does take a while to forge treaties and alliances with other countries, and making a 3-country alliance is faster than trying to get 44(this is just a quick Google search) countries, most with very different cultures, to unite.

Well, if we are talking like a pearl harbor type activity on US soil, the EU might do some serious damage. As far as a prolonged war going on between them, the US would quickly gain a size advantage. Trying to actually occupy the US would cost the EU dearly. Every step forward would be on the blood of a hundred men.

america. its all about the navy. The U.S. is the biggest in the world, followed by China, russia, Canada, England. so bassicly Canada takes on England's Navy and the U.S. takes on Russia's the Europeans can;t land troops the U.S. can.

It depends on the positions of Russia and China

But If its just North America vs Europe, I think the Americas would win

I think although, it would probably be wise for Canada to try stay neutral since they are next to America.

Somehow I think the EU would win because US and Canadian society would collapse with much more ease. We Mexicans are a bit more resilient to adversity, I'd like to think. Europeans have a more cultural and historical resistance to all the societal unheaval that a war like this would bring. When the homeland starts self-destructing the support for the troops would wane terribly.

Of course, this is just me talking non-sense, and I really haven't the foggiest.

The Americans would win in short order.

Us Europeans would be too busy signing health and safety forms other to actually send out an army.
Fixed.
Nah, we'd be arguing about which health and safety forms to order to fill in.

So Canada and the United States take on the European Union whilst Mexico is busy invading the U.S. and reclaiming California, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona (won't take long, they're already doing it! [/sarmcasm])...

Yeah, sounds like fun scenario. We haven't kicked Europe's collective ass in ages...It would do amazing things for our whole 'warring nation' image. We'll start by secretly invading Greenland, then Iceland, and pose as tourists in the U.K. and Scandinavia, secretly making our way to the mainland, then BAM! We're already there, and it's just a few short years until we pull the age old infiltration-to-victory gag, and then make fun of them in the most insulting way--by placing our hands by our ears, sticking in our thumbs, and extending all our fingers away from the head, all while sticking out our tongues and waggling our eyes a bit!

Ahahaha! They'll never see it coming!

Either way we both loose the casualties on both side's would be horrendous not to mention the damage to the country's economy, And even if one side had a clear victory both unions have a history of being stubborn bastards and rebelling against anyone trying to take over.

So in the end it wouldn't be worth it the cost would destroy both sides utterly.

Ignoring the obvious joke of "Whoever has France loses", I'd say the North Americans. America has hands-down one of the best (NOT largest, NOT most elite, you nit-picking bastards.) militaries in the world. Do you know why? People always talk about the Marines and how great they are, but here's a surprising fact for all you Europeans: We don't depend on them for shit. We don't depend on our Army, either. Or our Air Force or Navy. They all work together to get shit done as a team. From what I can tell about European politics, our armed forces, not even counting the sleeping giant that is Canada, or the sleeping midget that is Mexico... Sorry, lost my train of thought. It basically just seems that you Europeans are at each others' throat too much to even notice the war, and the next day one of you will mention "Hey guys, has the British flag always had red and white stripes with blue stars?"

I'm not going to be a bigot here, but I put money on the USA. Someone on first page predicted the armies clash and fall apart, and that it'd run to whoever's got the best navy.

I'd like to point out here that America also possesses something that I don't think the EU or any other nation on the earth has: the Carrier Battle Group.
Basically, America would trample the EU with combined Air Force/ Navy Air Units while the battle group kicks the crap out of any ship or army near enough to them.

Now I know other nations have air craft carriers, but I don't think they're nearly as large as the Nimitz class we use.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

So time for everyone's daily military situation. This one is on a continental scale. Say a large scale war breaks out between the Union and the Union of North America.(Not just USA)

I think this would be close to impossible to determine. Both Unions are pretty equal in population. I would lean towards the North American Union(Well I am an American), the USA has the most elite military in the world and Canada is also a very elite military and good allies with the USA. Mexico I worry about because their ground military is not is strong as most countries, mainly due to dealing with drug trafficking problems within their own nation, they also have almost no tanks. Their Navy however is something not turn a blind eye to.

What do others think?

UPDATE: Disregard nuclear technology.
USA does not have the most elite miltary in the world , Russia on the other hand ...

Hmm.. Let's say that France, Britain and Germany have an army numbering 100,000 men. I know Britains army is around 100,000 strong, so i would assume France, Germany, and perhaps Spain Italy, Sweden and Poland to have roughly the same size armies.

100,000x6=600,000

Now, let's say that smaller EU nations like Belgium, Netherlands, Romania, Greece and Ireland have an army numbering 50,000 men. There are 27 EU states, minus the six already mentioned that leaves 21, minus luxembourg which doesnt have an army, that leaves 50,000x20= 1,000,000.

Woah, now i know my estimates could be flawed, but the EU could easily have an army of 1.5 million soldiers, all professionally trained and well equipped. That is before drafting and conscription. Now, i imagine the combined navies and airforce's of the EU would also be pretty impressive. Initially my hunch would be that the North American Union would win, but now i'm not so sure.

We also have pretty good fighter's, most notably the Eurofighter, and the Germans do make damn good tanks (always have, always will) Leopard tanks are awesome, and in British Challenger 2's you can brew tea!! Germany also has a considerable industrial capacity, and each European nation have their elite forces. The British have the SAS, the Germans have GSG9, (Which is damn good) the French have the French Foreign Legion and the British have the Para's. EU has a slightly higher population than US, Canada and Mexico. (EU=499,000,000) North American Union=(447,000,000) Not really significant.

Really i think it would be stalemate, there is a big Atlantic ocean in the way, and this would be murder to cross, and even then you have the problem of actually getting a huge invasion force onto EU or North American soil and sustaining it with supplies coming across the Atlantic ocean.

If the EU and the North American Union unite of course, we could pwn the planet several times over.
I'm going with this. I made some calculations and the actual number of all out wartime soldiers of the EU reaches nearly 3 million. All things considered, it would however be the air forces that determine the result: a land war is not really an option. In this case, North America has a slight advantage, due tho the USAAF and US navy aircraft carriers, that, frankly, are the best in the world.

Neither... As maintaining such a large war across the Atlantic would be almost impossible without an allied on the other side(such as the UK during WW2) unless the attacking side manage a large(with large I mean large) surprise attack and then it would still be incredibly hard to manage...

If all of the EU rose up America would be crushed, not just in terms of military support but looking at it economically and socially America couldn't survive without the support and co-operation of the EU. Especially as its likely that Russia and Chine would bring their aid to the EU (well its kind of iffy with China they might just stay neutral.)
Considering the fact the USA(not including canada or mexico) has a larger Navy than the European Union combined, I think you may want to rethink "crushed."
but then Russia enters

Well theoritically a war between North America and the EU would be decided with naval/air strength. While the UK's navy definitely would give America's a run for it's money if America concentrated it's full naval might on destroying the UK ( and with it the EU) the US would come out on top. US carriers and fighters/bombers are the best in the world and in a war across oceans I can't see anyone beating the US. A land war might be a different story because of the amount of troops the EU would be able to pull together but since thats not really an option my vote goes to a NAU.
