I think although, it would probably be wise for Canada to try stay neutral since they are next to America.Burst6 said:I think the American union. It does take a while to forge treaties and alliances with other countries, and making a 3-country alliance is faster than trying to get 44(this is just a quick Google search) countries, most with very different cultures, to unite.

Us Europeans would be too busy signing health and safety forms other to actually send out an army.
Nah, we'd be arguing about which health and safety forms to order to fill in.-Orgasmatron- said:Fixed.fix-the-spade said:The Americans would win in short order.

USA does not have the most elite miltary in the world , Russia on the other hand ...JimmerDunda said:So time for everyone's daily military situation. This one is on a continental scale. Say a large scale war breaks out between the Union and the Union of North America.(Not just USA)
I think this would be close to impossible to determine. Both Unions are pretty equal in population. I would lean towards the North American Union(Well I am an American), the USA has the most elite military in the world and Canada is also a very elite military and good allies with the USA. Mexico I worry about because their ground military is not is strong as most countries, mainly due to dealing with drug trafficking problems within their own nation, they also have almost no tanks. Their Navy however is something not turn a blind eye to.
What do others think?
UPDATE: Disregard nuclear technology.
I'm going with this. I made some calculations and the actual number of all out wartime soldiers of the EU reaches nearly 3 million. All things considered, it would however be the air forces that determine the result: a land war is not really an option. In this case, North America has a slight advantage, due tho the USAAF and US navy aircraft carriers, that, frankly, are the best in the world.Nickolai77 said:Hmm.. Let's say that France, Britain and Germany have an army numbering 100,000 men. I know Britains army is around 100,000 strong, so i would assume France, Germany, and perhaps Spain Italy, Sweden and Poland to have roughly the same size armies.
100,000x6=600,000
Now, let's say that smaller EU nations like Belgium, Netherlands, Romania, Greece and Ireland have an army numbering 50,000 men. There are 27 EU states, minus the six already mentioned that leaves 21, minus luxembourg which doesnt have an army, that leaves 50,000x20= 1,000,000.
Woah, now i know my estimates could be flawed, but the EU could easily have an army of 1.5 million soldiers, all professionally trained and well equipped. That is before drafting and conscription. Now, i imagine the combined navies and airforce's of the EU would also be pretty impressive. Initially my hunch would be that the North American Union would win, but now i'm not so sure.
We also have pretty good fighter's, most notably the Eurofighter, and the Germans do make damn good tanks (always have, always will) Leopard tanks are awesome, and in British Challenger 2's you can brew tea!! Germany also has a considerable industrial capacity, and each European nation have their elite forces. The British have the SAS, the Germans have GSG9, (Which is damn good) the French have the French Foreign Legion and the British have the Para's. EU has a slightly higher population than US, Canada and Mexico. (EU=499,000,000) North American Union=(447,000,000) Not really significant.
Really i think it would be stalemate, there is a big Atlantic ocean in the way, and this would be murder to cross, and even then you have the problem of actually getting a huge invasion force onto EU or North American soil and sustaining it with supplies coming across the Atlantic ocean.
If the EU and the North American Union unite of course, we could pwn the planet several times over.
but then Russia entersJimmerDunda said:Considering the fact the USA(not including canada or mexico) has a larger Navy than the European Union combined, I think you may want to rethink "crushed."George144 said:If all of the EU rose up America would be crushed, not just in terms of military support but looking at it economically and socially America couldn't survive without the support and co-operation of the EU. Especially as its likely that Russia and Chine would bring their aid to the EU (well its kind of iffy with China they might just stay neutral.)
