When I saw the review for Fallout 3, I immediately went to get the GOTY edition and I watch at least 3 videos every day from his show since. When Portal goes out for mac, then I'll get it.

Scribblenauts. Somehow, it fell under my radar, and when Yahtzee reviewed me it sounded fun regardless of how obviously limited it was.

Ah well. It was indeed fun, for about a day or two. Until I ran out of interesting words to use.

Usually Yahtzee's reviews aren't reasons that one would go out and buy the game. There are exceptions, but still.

I find his reviews to be very reliable since his opinions are very close if not the same as my own, so...

No. What type of idiot would buy a game solely on the opinion of Yathzee? I enjoy ZP but I don't use it as my "what games to buy list." Anyone who does is retarded and needs to be institutionalised.

I have bought games in spite of what Yahtzee has said about them (Silent Hills Origins and homecoming)

Most of the games i own i get on my own..then i see yahtzee took a stab at them and most of the points he brings up on the game i've played i agree with because i remember those events happening. I would never buy a game just because of what he or any reviewer for that matter says about it.

Got Psychonauts 'cause o' him. Great writing, pretty good game. Pretty much worth the $5 I paid, but it's absolutely hilarious. Tim Schafer's a great writer, looking forward to Brutal Legend.

as i was leaving work one day i wondered passed the games bit (as i normally do) and i spotted that a bunch of games had been knocked down in price so thought id check em out and see whats what. As im looking i spot "No More Heroes" for the wii and almost straight away i hered yathzee`s voice in my head and the line from his review "as flawed as it is, get it anyway beacause you will never experience anything like it" and like the good little ***** i am i bought it, went home and played it and the rest is slience

Quite the contrary. I've purchased games that he's made out to be a terrible waste of computer animation and design time, even after his reviews, and loved them (i.e. Bioshock 2, Dante's Inferno)
I see a few valid points in the things he says, but sometimes I think he drinks sewage before playing games, just so he's in a proper mindset to piss and moan about every little detail. Either that or he plays with things lodged in his rectum. He whines just to whine... and I think its funny, so I watch.

So I was up at the local games store today, I just finished Bioshock, (which was amazing by the way); and I had my sights set on Bioshock 2. After perusing the shelves for a little while, I came across a few titles that appeared on the chopping block of Zero Punctuation. Almost instantly after I saw them I heard Yathzee's voice in the back of my head, chiming in with caustic sarcasm about how shitty it is. So I looked around, and I saw more and more games that were reviewed, and before I knew it I walked out of there with $500 worth of new releases that happened to be positivly reviewed.

Anybody else have this happen to them?
Yeah I bought Psychonauts. Wish I hadn't, I thought that despite the charming characters it was just another boring jumpy-jumpy game, I expected a lot more because of his glowing review.

Ever since Torchlight I know not to take his advice on anything, that game was brilliant and he hated it.

Yahtzee led me to Saint's Row 2. I thank him every day for that.
Same here, I was deffinitly a GTA fan boy until GTA 4 let me down so badly, I needed something to fille the void, enter Saints Row 2 and damn I am glad I listened to him on that one.

Although he hated GoW 3 and Uncharted 1 & 2 which I love all of them.

Oh I think I also bought Psychonauts and Painkiller, 2 games which I wished I never touched.

I love listening to people whine about how Yahtzee isn't meant to be taken seriously. The truth of the matter is, if you listen carefully to the criticisms he makes, albeit you have to sift through a bunch of dick jokes, all of his points are valid and they are things that you will notice. Now I said "notice" not "hate," and that's where I find so many people fall off the logic train with Yahtzee's reviews. It's not that you're supposed to agree with him word for word, but he IS giving you a fair warning about a game's shortcomings. From that point it's up to your own critical thinking skills to decide which of Yahtzee's quips hold water for you and make a purchase based on that. Because of this, I find him to be one of the most trustworthy sources if I want the cold truth about what the developers failed to achieve to help balance out the hype. I have yet to be truly disappointed.

Saw Psychonauts on Steam for about $5, remembered Yahtzee's review and bought it.

Looks like a great game, but I've been having a ba***rd of a time getting it to run.
