More humor. Fallout 3 somewhat lacks the humor of its predecessors(its still awesome thought). maybe a bit more focus on the various groups(BOS,Enclave etc).

So we've got whores, motorcycles and Black Isles taking their game back. Good job men.

I would like to see the adventures of Harold, perhaps you could talk to Birch, then be ignored, then call Bob Herbert and laugh about it, then ask some poor guy who was looking for the Alien Blaster to shoot you in the heart.

Actual enemy variety.
Drugs that are actually useful.
Smooth real-time combat.
Less VATS emphasis. Now THAT system was the definition of a gemmic.
No more scaling enemy stats to your level.
Skills that actually mean something. Lockpicking, speech, and science were all you needed.
Less worthless perks.
Competent AI.
Less bugs.
Less worthless crap lying around that is, well, worthless crap. More uses.
No "point of no return" final area. I hate those.
Biggest request. More quest variety. GTA IV got a lot of critism for having "go here, shoot this person, evade police" quests. Fallout 3 was the same, but the variety was even less, and it had no cristism for it. I don't get it.

Don't you think Bethesda would be more concerned with a new Elder Scrolls, not another fallout?
Not after Fallout's record sales. They'll be forking out Fallout 4 by the boatload sooner or latter. They made three DLC's for a reason you know.
..and they've made exactly how many DLC's for TES?

My point made by your DLC remark, as to the record sales, what the hell do you think made Fallout 3 so popular?

It was made by Bethesda.

What made Bethesda astoundingly famous to the "stereotypical average gamer"?

TES: Oblivion

That made Bethesda famous, and to my extent of knowledge, a new Elder Scrolls is more anticipated than Fallout 4.

The workers at Bethesda aren't dumbasses, and they know what makes a good game sequel.

Simple answer- Time

For example: Halo 2 was an astounding sequel, with a edge-on-your-seat cliffhanger. Now did they come out with Halo 3 the next year or so? No

The kept everyone waiting, and look at halo's huge success right now.

They won't come out with Fallout 4 before TES 5, because the anticipation for a new Elder Scrolls is too good to pass up.

I say more Mad Max. To the point of giving us the one thing that Mad Max is known for: THE THUNDERDOME.

Also, bigger area this time. Like...North Carolina. Let's see the Tobacco Road Rivalry (UNC and Duke) spill over into a war! Then nobody can dispute that NC State is better!

What was I talking about?
More Mad Max was my first thought too, followed by NPC's that blink and look around when they talk to you...

I love Fallout 3 to death. I have almost 200 hours logged on it. I currently have Operation: Anchorage and plan yo get the Pitt and Broken Steel when they come out. My one and ONLY thing i would like it see is actually quite simple and... unsusual. All i want is an un-scoped .44 Magnum. Is that so much to ask? Just a plain, original, classic .44 magnum. The Mysterious Stranger has one, why cant I? ("Go ahead punk... Make my day..." Classic!)

Add in Vehicles, why? Because VATSing the Gas Tank of a Mad Max esque dune buggy would be awesome!

Also I'd like to see a better story, better character writing and some more effectual dialogue choices available. Also, bring back the Low/High Int/Cha Dialogue Choices!

But judging how giant of a leap forward Fallout 3 was from Oblivion, I have a feeling that Fallout 4 will be the game I'm REALLY waiting for.
For the last fucking time, "Fallout" may have been some-what inspired by "MadMax", but, in all esssence, its different you idiot! Was there any radiation in the series? Any mutated fiona? Any black-humor? No!!! And in case your not up to speed, there has'nt been a working ground vehicle since the bombs dropped! So, unless President Tandi of the North California Republic was finally able to make a new mode of Transportation like she kept blabbering about, in the Wasteland, then...noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chill out man. I agree with Pedro. And who says you need a behemoth SUV to traverse the landscape? Somebody find a bike for god's sake.
I think vehicles would ruin the sense of tramping across the wasteland. Also please explain how they would make a car mechanic that would be able to make it through the wastelands junk filledness. I personally love the item abundance. The fact that in fallout 3 those cans on the floor can actually be interacted with (and the fact that they are there in the first place) makes it feel like it picked up the interaction scheme from half life 2 and the added the rpg element by allowing you you to take it. Vehicles are a big no no. Maybe 2 vehicles could be permitted. I think a small motorbike in some corner of the wasteland would be okay and also a riding brahmin could work.

Less Oblivion, more Fallout. That's all.
Less Bethesda, more Black Isle.
true. then they might bring back the options that you had in fallout 2 to become a porn star, or a mobster or a graverobber or just a really nasty child killing bastard
Well yes. The FO world is a nasty place and being any of the above has nasty consequences. If you become a slaver then nobody will like you, often shooting at you on sight, ditto for childkiller. The important part is the scope of moral choices available to you, in FO3 the only real choice is blow up megaton or diffuse the bomb, and you make this choice before you're an hour or two into the game.

I also mean that the story could have some length to it.

And the dialogue needs a lot of work. The options could extend beyond the lazy [good guy choice] [want to get paid choice] [bad guy choice] [persuade attempt]. All the wit and humour in FO1 and FO2 dialogue is totally lost by Bethesda (because they wouldn't know depth if they were dropped in the atlantic wearing concrete boots).

Actually, the Fallout series was well established before hand. Whereas Bethesda did a great job, others would have done just as well. Interplay may have even done better.

Also bring back random encounters. they dont have to be incorperated into the fast travel. but just things like when you came across the Bridgekeeper or the monty pythonesque brotherhood of steel knights searching for the grail. that was the kind of thing that kept the game entertaining

less oblivion: the replay is quite low on both games (more on oblivion that is fallout has a better story line-ish) because doing some quests over and over again to get started is very boring and i'm not talking about the vault i'm talking a megaton and operation angochrage DLC
