What do I want to see?
- Higher level cap, perhaps 40? 50?
- Better AI. I'd love it if stealth-oriented enemies would try to sneak up on me if they caught me unaware. Good AI would make for more interesting fights. For example, you'd find a good sniping spot and then cover your backside by planting explosives such as remote-controlled and/or proximity mines, because you know if you're spotted the enemy might try to flank or get behind you.
- Better voice acting.
- Better atmosphere that makes you think more than just a casual "I'm in the middle of nowhere, where do I go from here hmm? Soooo many possibilities." and actually gives a sense of real danger.
- More choice in player housing, such as location and accessories. Keep the way you drag stuff around in mid-air the way it is, but when you're in your house, you should be able to pick them up and effortlessly carry them around as if they were weightless, in the same vein as Garry's Mod. That'll make it easier and more fun to decorate your living quarters.
- More armor and player accessories. Also, more variety in them. I wouldn't mind being able to add cybernetic upgrades to my left or right arm (or both), for example, so that my unarmed attacks could be more powerful or I could have reduced weapon sway when aiming. Another example is putting certain upgrades on my legs so that I can run faster or longer distances. Head-wear visors and/or cybernetic eye implants could allow me to detect specific types of enemies before they detect me and perhaps, if done right, provide some real-time tactical information such as revealing hidden weapons underneath the outfits of people I've just confronted or who have just confronted me. Perhaps some upgrades might bring certain disadvantages along with their benefits as well. Maybe I could mod my armor, such as adding kevlar/armor plates or a bandolier for added ammunition space. Just think of the possibilities!
- More mutated animals.
- More random encounters. Also, a substantial variety in them.
- More variety in female facial features and face structure. In Fallout 3, they all look exactly the same. Ugh.
- More variety in enemies. I wouldn't mind seeing some creepy Silent Hill shit coming at me. I want to see enemies that look threatening and dangerous.
- More cool perks that add more to game-play than just increasing skill stats.
- More cool spots with interesting features (like Dunwich with its hallucinations).
- More weapons (craft-able and otherwise). I want to see explosives with remote detonators.
- Customizable weapons (add accessories, fire-modes, etc).
- Gore customization (it gets boring when overdone, that's why I never select the Bloody Mess perk... plus, I get tired of seeing every enemy's head and limbs explode).
- Ability to blow off limbs without your target actually dying. "Aww fuck you blew my arm off!" It would make combat a lot more interesting too. Blow his head off, instant death. Blow his arm off, he'll lose the ability to use two-handed weapons and he might resort to using a one-handed weapon in his intact hand. Blow both arms off, soon die from blood loss. Blow one leg off, he'll limp around. Blow two legs off, have fun crawling around and eventually dying from blood loss. And that would apply to human enemies. A mutant might of course not be so hindered by the loss of its limbs. Blow the tail off a Radscorpion and it won't be able to sting you, obviously, but it'll still come at you with its claws (unless you get rid of them too).
- Imagine the possibilities the developers could have with the radio stations. You could actually tune into a certain station and it would provide news-style updates on the effects you had on the world like in Fallout 3, but perhaps you could also glean indirect tactical data from such news reports on the outside world. For example, the radio announcer might inadvertently mention to his audience that there are certain bad guys outside in a certain place looking for a certain individual such as yourself or another unlucky person. He might even mention that they are heavily armed and look dangerous. The radio news announcer could also mention places of interest that you might like to go to.
Eh, I could go on.
