Being able to kill anyone at anytime with possible lasting consequences, including straight up failure of your goal (hence, game over screen). This includes Children as well and a return of the "Child killer" reputation.

I'd also like to see Traits return, and not just converted into overpowered (and really, the only worthwhile) Perks

More interesting and original Perks. Do we REALLY need 10 perks that add "15 points to whatever"? How about Perks that effect the game?
You mean like cannibal, solar powered, child at heart, mysterious stranger, grim reaper sprint, ninja, to name a few.

I'd like to see minimum BoS in the game.. or Enclave. Or, at least tone down their tech levels a bit. I mean seriously, the stuff in the Enclave base just ruined the whole "Omg there's nothing here because it all got blown to bits" atmosphere. And the fact that in the main story you HAVE to join the BoS... I found it alright that they had the armour, it's cool that they scavenged it, but then you enter the ruined base, which seems nice, and then what... they've got BoS trainees training with what little ammo there is left!! And then you go in the lab... A LAB! Not only are they a constructed fighting force, but they only fight super-mutants, not help the dying innocent, and they have the time and manpower to get all that technology! Like the robot! Yes, the final quest was cool and memorable... but I don't want to follow Megatron into battle to kill the Galactic Empire Enclave.

Yes, more like those.

On multiple playthroughs, you'll likely pick those same perks over and over because so many perks were either bugged and didn't work correctly, or were flat out useless.

Useless Fallout 3 Perks (non-quest):
Daddy's Boy/Girl
Gun Nut
Little Leaguer
Thief
Entomologist (not enough insects in the game to make it worthwhile)
Scoundrel
Lead Belly (rads were never a problem)
Rad Resistance
Size Matters
Impartial Mediation (save states)
Here and Now (worst Perk in the game)
Tag!
Action Boy/Girl (because of Grim Reaper, its useless)
Infiltrator (save states)
Computer Whiz (save states)
Explorer (we have teh internet)

And many more can be made rather pointless if you know the in's and out's of the game.

There simply isn't enough variety in the Perks, the Perks should really DEFINE your character build and how you want to play the game, every choice should IMO have an opposite.

An engine that doesnt suck, I mean the oblivon one is getting old and its glitchy as HELL, If you played either game without finding some ragdoll flying around the room like a noodle, Then you did not play the game enough.

I just hope they bring back the trademark humor and multiple quest options.

Yes, I played the originals.

Tranquilizer gun. Stealth in the game doesn't really work. So just give me something that actually will.

And I also don't want to be wasting my bullets on some stupid animals that just chase you half of the map.

Dart gun was allmost the same thing as that, And stealth worked fine, I have made tons of chars based around it.

Stealth worked okay, as long as you didn't mind playing the game from the perspective of someone 3 feet tall.

I want a radio station that I can take over (Black Mountain?) and play my own music from.
I also want the game to be more different if I'm playing as a bad guy.

I want the original Fallout atmosphere to return. Fallout 3 greenish-trashy backround was boring and uninteresting.

Also real life firearms such as AK-47, MP5 e.t.c.
AK-47=chinese assult rifle, and why would real life guns be in a game with an alternate reality where there was a nuclear war 200 years ago and its still like the fifties, with robots.
Would you do some research before being such a smartass? Ak-47 has a appeared in Fallout and also its imaginary counterpart AK-112 and lots of other real life guns such as FN-Fall, P90, Mp5 e.t.c are common

The problem with blowing off limbs without people dying is that we could end up with kind of a Black Knight scenario.

...is that a bad thing?

I don't know how this would work but being able to choose your class would be nice. Humans are the balanced characters, mutants are strong but slow and the ghouls are good at dying.

Also improved stealth and each faction offering interesting bonuses.

As I am reading up on Fallout 1 and 2 I would like to see more references to the first two games, and have the Master come back in some way, or something

They should call that perk:Mearly a flesh wound.

I got the whole fact it was suppose to be a wasteland but it was kinda to much of a wasteland as in walking for ages and seeing the same crap over and over again occasionally to get my heels nibbled by some passing rodent.

Less underground navigation and try not to recycle the same interiors for every single building

One of the features I am looking forward to is the new companion inventory management. That's going to be so nice.

I like the OPs blowing off of limb idea. I think there was a zombie game I played that did that. It was pretty creepy, but it could work here too.

My suggestion, no more metro tunnels. I could do without seeing another metro tunnel in this game.
On both the metro and atmosphere notes, I thought Fallout 3's atmosphere was great, a postapocalyptic world should feel barren and ruined to a degree, and it was well reflected in game. And on the metro note, if you live in D.C like I do and use those things every day, it takes on a whole new level of creepy to see them ruined, or to even travel through them on foot. That said New Vegas can do with out them.

And God yes to more mutated animals.
When I visited DC last year, I took a tour of all the Fallout locales. It was quite fun. I even photographed some of the spots. People thought I was a little deranged photographing the path around the Lincoln monument.

I was impressed when I came from the airport through the metro how well the game captured the look of those tunnels in Fallout 3. It was much more interesting to travel through them in the game after that.

I also enjoyed the atmosphere. I know everyone says it's brown with a touch of tan and highlighted in beige, but I think that's how a post-apocalyptic world would look.

And welcome to the Escapist btw! :)

As interesting as the Master was, it's also nigh impossible for him to survive being repeatedly shot by you and then a nuclear explosion set off to destroy his base. He doesn't even have legs to escape with.

Things I would like to see:
The return of eye shots as the most difficult and most rewarding Vats target.
The Highwayman. Make fast travel impossible before the player acquires one so that fast travel makes sense for once.
I would like radiation to be a serious threat instead of a minor irritation.

You can aim down the iron sights? Oh man, this game just keeps getting better and better. I mean, they had me at "concealable cut-throat razor", but now I'm just getting unbearably excited.

I want to see Obsidian finish a game for once and give it some polish so it's in a complete and playable state at release. Yes, I know, a tall order...
We all want that, and for them to you know, actually test for bugs...
