I'd have to go with CloudxAeris tbh because, well, because it's Aeris, and Cloud is so passionate about avenging her, after, well, you know, the saddest moment ever in videogames.

Really? Passionate about avenging her? I dunno, I haven't played the game for a while, but I was under the impression that by the end of things he was closer to Tifa and was more interested in saving the planet, avenging Aeris being the side effect of doing so.

Besides, it was the part of Cloud that was Zack which made him love her, not himself, and she liked him because he reminded her of Zack. Not the best way to start a relationship methinks [and boy was it confusing].

I'll go with Yuna and Tidus, FFX being one of the first videogames I played (after Sonic on the megadrive, teehee) so I'll always remember those two fondly (some odd voice acting quirks aside).

I don't really have any as I never really was interested in the romances between characters. Often, I would find female characters that were romantically interested in my character to be either:

A) Over the top romantic, and therefore annoying.
B) A complete prissy ***** that secretly liked me, but was still annoying
C) Just annoying.

Then again, I probably am just bad at finding the good romances in games because I myself, in life, have become bitter towards the opposite sex for always rejecting me...always.

I can't tell you how many girls I tried to get to know, but I can tell you that I was shot down in flames every time with the classic "I like you as a friend" joke. If another girl says that to me, I will have an aneurysm.

You?re basing this on an xplay list. I sometimes get the feeling they know about as much about video games as fox news.
These are the idiots that didn?t even mention GTA in their ?best games of the decade? list.

So to help you make your real list I thought I should mention one that I recall being very romantic: Soul Blazer (snes). The romance between Lisa and the Hero (I named him Smiley) moved me to tears by the end: mind you I was a teenager bursting with hormones at the time so moving me to tears probably wasn?t that hard. I?m afraid to revisit it but it did make quite an impression.

However I would also have to mention another favorite game romance in retaliation to xplay?s incompetence: The romance between CJ and Denise in San Andreas. He shows up as her hero (saving her from a burning building... That he set on fire) then as her boyfriend he?s very patient with her demands like ?let?s blast some foos? and ?I?m huuuungry.?

I wish I could say it was something else but mine is from FF10. Tidus and Yuna's relationship and the way it grew is one of my favorite to this day. Every FF game I play I look for the same chemistry that I saw in that game.

Before 10, it was 7 with Cloud and Aeris. I love me some FF.

I really like the Zevran romance from Dragon Age: Origins. This character gets a lot of flack because he comes off as such a sleaze, but get to know him and you see it's just a mask for a deeply troubled soul. In a game with a lot of romance options--each really different from the others--I thought Zev's story line was the sweetest, and that really surprised me.

Male Shepard/Miranda Lawson. They have an amazing love/hate relationship. The attraction between them almost burned my PC. The most badass romantic duo EVER. The badass hot-head/the cold *****. I have no idea how you can choose any other romance. The sexual tension between them is painfully obvious. Whenever I imagine the innocent, awkward Tali next to my Shepard, I fall off my chair from laughing.

Max Payne/Mona Sax. Tragic, fatal and unquestionably amazing. Those two complete and break each other at the same time.

Nathan Drake/Chloe Frazer. Oh god, I hate Elen. Drake/Chloe for the goddamn win. They can't have a normal conversation for two minutes without throwing in a sexual innuendo. How can you not love that?

Male Grey Warden/Morrigan. Those two were attracted to each other from the very start. The bastard and the *****. Goddamit, Morrigan, I WILL find you.

I agree with you on all of this from Miranda to Morrigan yoou fucking nailed it,
and yes I too will find Morrigan or as Shale put it the swamp witch.

EDIT: In all seriousness, the ones that have stuck with me the most are Max Payne and Mona Sax, as well as Jak and Kiera or Ashelin, whichever game you happen to be playing.

No in-game romance has ever gotten more than an eyeroll from me (the one near exception would be Fran and Balthier from FFXII, which was just met with indifference.) The only hinted romance I ever want to see come to something is that of Gordon and Alyx in Half Life... and I'll turn if they screw it up. But so far, I like how it's been handled. It's there, but not in your face, and it doesn't take over the entire bloody story.
