No... I'm not one, but my wife is. And not just with casual games. She is a badass at games like Rockband, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty.

Better than me at the the first two. As good as me and still improving with the second. I'm not sure if I should hang my head in shame or lift it with pride.

Are you one of these rare individuals? If not, do you know one? And lastly, what is your reaction to them when you run across them while playing online?
Dude walk with pride... your wife is into games which is something many guys can only wish for. Not only that but she sounds like she rocks at them which is even better!

My missus kicks my ass when it comes to SIMS, and loves watching people play Bioshock and even dabbles in a bit of Fable 2. This compared to a previous ex who thought gaming was the devil and I was addicted to it when I didn't want to stop playing to watch America's top fucking model.
My ex refused to let me play RE4 one sunday because she wanted to watch "dirty dancin, time of your life", then "American Idol" was on... after that she wanted to watch "strictly come dancing" and about 3 minutes after that finished it was "dancing on ice".

*****.

i hate all of those shows...

I don't know any, but there is some hope. In class this morning, some female's ringtone went off, playing the theme song from Chrono Trigger.

That said, whether or not a female plays games doesn't really matter to me, if said female is not an intelligent, sound-minded, enjoyable person. I still don't think I've found any of those. What I really despise is that it has become popular for some females to become attention-seekers simply because of their hobbies - they know that they'll have a bunch of lonely nerds lusting after them whenever they enter the room, and they take advantage of it. It's rather sickening and ridiculously arrogant. The intersection between femininity and gamer culture - that "girl gamers" nonsense - is complete shit and should be wiped from the face of the planet. I've never respected anybody simply for looks or gender or sexuality or race or anything, and neither have I disrespected them. If anything, it makes me disrespect you immensely if you exploit those social realities for your benefit, because you demean yourself in doing so.
Well, I enjoy the occasional ego stroking, but I have a big ego. When meeting a fellow gamer in real life, I try to direct the conversation from, "You're a girl..." to something universally nerdy and enjoyable, like, "The cake is a lie."

Generally if a girl feels the need to point out she's both a gamer and a girl then I feel the need to tell her to GTFO.

I know a few however, the serious ones are strangely the prep-iest girls I know.

But because I like to watch some of those things, I'm a *****?
I think it's more that he was forced to watch these things, and his girlfriend not respecting that that's what interests him, than liking or disliking them, but I could be wrong.

Hey, what happened to the Zoey avatar? I thought that was cool. (Must find myself an avatar one of these days...)

Back on topic though, I recently discovered somebody in my office who's a closet geek, and I was glad to know that there are people in the office that share my interests, guy or girl.
People who say that there's no difference between guys and girls are utterly wrong, but that doesn't mean I don't believe we're equal. Instead, make yourself aware of the differences, step backa d enjoy the contrasts that make up the mixed portrait of humanity.

Why are they being forced to watch them? Couldn't they just find another TV? I mean, shouldn't they be bonding over something in which they actively interact with each other?
And does anyone else in this forum get as much attention because of their avatar as I do? With the Zoey avatar, I was getting, "Go back to WM" at least once a week...

Huh, fair enough. I liked the Zoey one, but WM is good too, especially when 8 Bit Theatre was still good.

I think the issue with those people is that they just don't share the same interests and they only have one TV. But then that begs the question that, if they have different interests, why are they together? But then that's a whole other debate for another day.

You should be proud that you have a wife that loves to play games.

I love playing games with my boyfriend and beating him at L4D. My boyfriend and I play everything together and it's wonderful. In-fact we're both getting RE:5 when it comes out and were going kick some ass in that game XD

But I'm just a hardcore gamer girl that doesn't take any game to serious, it's all for fun right? (except L4D, thats my game X3 )Besides it more fun meeting people then kicking peoples asses. Heck anyone that wants to play can get my tag from my profile and play with it, it would be fun to meet new people ^-^

I am one, I am friends in real life with a few others, and do to these fact my reaction when I come across still more online is nothing special.
Maybe it's do to over exposure but I don't think I'll ever truly understand whats so special about us girl gamers...

Not at all, I think we are fully aware of relationships here, its the internet where we exagerate things, do you really think I would have played RE4 for 6 hours straight?

Also I made your spelling error bold, for shits and giggles.

I'm not really sure what the fuss is to be honest. What do I do when I see them onlne? I try to beat them, same as I do anyone else. I play games to play. It is annoying when people start being assholes on a server, because it disrupts the game. It seems like some people forget that they joined the server to play as soon as a girl come online.

And OP, you should neither hang your head in shame or raise it in pride. You should just be happy that there's someone you like being around who lives with you and shares your interest in games.

my wife is, she loves, Zelda, the sims, mario, katamari, and other games, she loves to watch the more epic games, but is not a fan of action packed gaming, tends to run around in circles up against a wall when the action gets to intense

They're quite rare on Xbox Live, but I did kick some ass with this one girl. We owned up a team double our size in Gears of War. Good times.

I really dislike that mentality. Sure, there are a lot of casual female gamers, but there are a lot of casual gaming guys, and they wind up making the biggest number of gamers in the world.
Its when people say, "I wanna find a chick who could kick my ass at Halo," or the same thing about fighting or action games that makes me feel sad.
I'm only mediocre at pvp games because I don't like to compete. And I don't spend hours everyday gaming, so I don't have superhuman prowess at any game.

However, I consider myself in every respect a gamer. I play games, I love the culture... What more is there to it?
Well, sorry if I was misunderstood. I'm not very eloquent with my speech usually. I only meant that I wish I knew a more diverse group of female gamers and could play with them. I'll try to play any genre until it bores me(just like anyone else), and Some casual games are fun. That just isn't my genre of choice. Go female gamers, whatever games you may play.
