Okay, I could see a point in the guy's statement if he had mentioned the iPhone, despite its limited game catalog.

But the iPad? Isn't that kind of like putting the DS in the same category as a laptop? And it still doesn't have many decent games.

I think it's obvious from the fact that he's a FF writer that his opinions shouldn't be taken seriously, if he had a brain-cell he would have made sure the bloody series ended! made it the FINAL Fantasy, if you will.

Do you think it's possible that you guys could start proof reading your articles before hitting the post button? There are more spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in this site's articles than there are on 4chan.
Did you know that "handheld" is listed as a typo? Just because there's a red line under it doesn't mean it's incorrect ;)
I'm referring to the replacement of the word "threat" with the word "thread". This is why I chose the words proof read and not the words spell check.
We do proofread. Sometimes things slip through the cracks. Happens. Thanks for pointing it out :)

I get that things slip through the cracks. I get that. But at least two thirds of the articles I read on this site have errors that slip through the cracks. You can assume that I'm exaggerating if you want, but I'm not.
Frankly, you are. Just sayin'.
Frankly, you have no idea how many or which articles that I read on this site, so your claim to the contrary is ludicrous at best. If you'd like more empirical data, then I will start tracking which articles I bother to read and which have spelling errors.
Be my guest. But I assure you, we do proofread pretty extensively. Not saying that things don't slip through the cracks every now and then - and please, bring them to our attention when they do - but suggesting otherwise is pretty insulting given that we pride ourselves on the strength of our editorial content, and are up in the Webbies alongside The New York Times, the New Yorker, and Wired for just that. So we must be doing SOMETHING right ;)
Yeah, alright. I'm going to stop being a pedant now, and let you get on with your day.

How are they digging their own grave? They make the DS slimmer and turn a profit. Hell, they take away the backwards comparability port and give it a camera and still turn a profit. And by golly, they are going to do ????? with it and STILL TURN A PROFIT!

This does not surprise me. What good game has nintendo even come up with in the last 3 years?
Super Mario Galaxy 2. To name the most recent one.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not a good game. Just look at all the people who love it. Yeah, it's a good game made in the last three years.

Edit: And for handhelds: The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks

Apple benefits because the adult gaming base now have those deep pockets they once didn't have in the 80's and 90's. People that are in the mid twenties, like myself, or even as far as their early fourties, have that disposable income to pay for such products and make a conversion to mac computers, or at the very least become 100% dependent on itunes for music, books and games. All because they own an iphone or ipad, whether by motivations of vanity or of being "hip", without actually realizing what the iphone was going to become. We now have that money that we decide to waste towards paying for internet and email on our phones, instead of using our phones to call people. So paying that 600 bucks for an ipad is no problem now, especially when the games one buys only costs at most ten bucks.

Kids and even adults who have the DS are also still discouraged to bring them to work or school. An Iphone or Ipad, on the other hand, is encouraged because one can pass it off as a "working" device due to its main capabilities. I remember that bringing a DS to play on my break was discouraged while my co-workers would spend their working hours playing iphone games. That illusion of being productive gives employees and employers the ability to allow the iphone and ipad to exist within formal events where a handheld could not because it is a toy.

This will not however be some instant takeover but instead one of those slow conversions as even parents will decide to just give their kids an iphone instead of getting them a DS because it will be "easier" than buying a handheld.
No. Just no.

I can't even understand how people think that the iPad is a danger for nintendo. The iTouch? Maybe, but it's basically just browser games. If people want to play handheld videogames, they are going to buy a handheld console (AKA, DS/PSP)

iPad games are browser-based, at best. Also, $600? For an oversized iTouch that has half the capabilities of a laptop? Not to mention nickle-and-diming you to death for apps. As far as I know, everybody who got the iPad falls under the category of the people who bought the MacBook Air. It's completely useless, but they have to have it because it's Apple.http://www.pvponline.com/comics/pvp20080203.gif

You shouldn't be gaming at work anyways. If it's 'discouraged' but not forbidden, then fuck them! Bring your DS, play on your break, it's a BREAK! As for the working-hour iPhone gamers, let them stress about how far behind they've suddenly fallen. DS is obviously a gaming device, and has much better games. The iPhone has little titchy browser-like games, and terrible phone service. Plus, one's $100, the other's, like, $20.

And this is a recession. The ONLY people buying iPads are A)wealthy B)Mac fans, and C)incompetent at distinguishing a $1000 laptop from a $600 iTouch. Seriously, it's an iTouch. Only bigger, can't multitask, and $500 more.
Which reminds me:

While it's true that Nintendo doesn't really have insane amounts of power in the handheld market nowadays, they still have a firm grip on the real handheld gamers out there, not just the somewhat casual market.

Since when was Apple ever seriously considered a gaming company?

Oh yeah, I see plenty of people playing games on their Macs....using software to emulate Windows Software. >_>

Nintendo, losing to the iPad? Hahahahaha, that slaps me on the knee. Nintendo still has a huge lead in the handheld department.

Phantasy Star Zero
Space Invaders Extreme 2
Might & Magic Clash of Heroes
Infinite Space
Warioware DIY
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontiers
