Do you think it's possible that you guys could start proof reading your articles before hitting the post button? There are more spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in this site's articles than there are on 4chan.
Did you know that "handheld" is listed as a typo? Just because there's a red line under it doesn't mean it's incorrect ;)
I'm referring to the replacement of the word "threat" with the word "thread". This is why I chose the words proof read and not the words spell check.
We do proofread. Sometimes things slip through the cracks. Happens. Thanks for pointing it out :)

I get that things slip through the cracks. I get that. But at least two thirds of the articles I read on this site have errors that slip through the cracks. You can assume that I'm exaggerating if you want, but I'm not.
Stop being a c***.

Seriously. :)

OT. Apple don't hold a candle to Nintendo, they will always surpass expectations and come out on top.

Look at the two products as two different markets. The DS sells heavily to a younger demographic (and before anyone jumps down my throat) I used to work at Best Buy so I know the retail market well. The DS has a much lower cost entry level compared to the Ipad. With that i see kids everywhere with a DS. I own an Iphone and i rarely game on it, mostly because there is little time that I ever spend as a passenger. The Ipad, phone, etc. are product aimed at working adults who have the type of income to purchase high end electronics. The few times I do game on them is a quick casual game when I have 5 mins on a smoke break. Nintendo going under in the hand held business not likely. and yea like some other people have already stated FF7 is way overrated.

I'm more disappointed how EVERY SINGLE POSTER didn't read the article.

If they did, they'd know this guy did more than Final Fantasy 7. But no, that's all they mention.

He might be right, considering how gamers often miss alot of good points.

Then again Nintendo's sales do make their own point, which makes this guy hard to believe.

Please ... Apple toppling a games company in the games department, a games company that makes the best games, the most innovative gaming systems, and a company with the most experienced games creative teams and game console makers?

Nintendo is a God. NES saved the console market during the 1980s, redefined gaming, and for it's merit has weathered the current GFC better than any other first, second or third party games developer.

Apple couldn't beat PC in PC gaming and apps .... Why the Fuck does Apple even think it's a contender for handheld consoles market?

Nobody bought an iPod touch because it plays awesome games .... they bought it because it's a FAD.

Which means by the time Nintendo releases a new handheld console gamers will pick that up, but if Apple release a graphically updated iPod touch, how many people will pick it up for the games when they have a perfectly working last-gen Touch?

The one thing that Apple is struggling is that Nintendo is not just a company, it's an ENTIRE CULTURE that spans continents and is ingrained into the conciousness of gamers everywhere(Apple Touch replacing handhelds in Japan? lolwut? Never going to happen in a billion years).

Apple's iPod is a FAD ... nothing more ... but Nintendo IS games. As long as Gaming remains strong, Nintendo will remain strong.

Edit: Oh yeah, don't get me started on iPad ... not only does it sound like an electronic version of a female hygiene product ... but it is about as obtuse and unusable as computer gadgets go.

Why anybody thinks the iPad will revolutionize anything is beyond the weak extensions of my mortal conciousness ... is it so hard to press the release latch on your laptop (which is for all intents and purposes far more powerful when configured properly, with better applications, and general utility as well as for games support)?

Claiming that Apple will topple them from the top of the hand-held market is one thing, but then he threw-in that completely unrelated jab about the Wii somehow causing Nintendo to dig its own grave? Sounds more like he's butt-hurt towards Nintendo than making an actual prediction.

Definitely. The DS certainly isn't the best selling console of all time. (Wait, has it passed that mark yet? It was pretty close last time I recalled.)

The man who wrote Square-Enix classics Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Trigger thinks that Nintendo's handheld dominance is finally at an end, thanks to a certain company named after a fruit.
What's this guy on? Nintendo is a company that will keep riding high because of the fact it targets all audiences. If Apple what's to beat out Nintendo then they'll need to sell their stuff cheaper and get a hell of a lot of 3rd party support. I honestly think Nintendo will keep itself at the top of the portable market for a long while, probably will end up becoming just a portable focused company in the future. Admittedly Apple has the potenial to dominate but they'll need cheaper prices and a system that uses real games in a physical form instead of digital games.

Sorry chuckles...while the Ipad, portable pcing, game ect will certainly be wanted.

Nothing will remove the want for a low price gaming system to waste time.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. Nintendo's era is far from over. Oooh just because the guy who wrote FF7 said, it must be true. The Wii and DS are still selling like crazy. Maybe he confused the DS with the PSP(Yes I went there).
Plus...Does the Ipad have Super Mario Bros,Fire Emblem,Pokemon,Professor Layton,Warioware,Planet Puzzle League,Megaman ZX and Kirby? No, I don't think so.
You deserve a cookie and an internet.

Yeah, so what if he said that. Doesn't make it true.

Ultimately, I question the long-term stability of the iPad's app sales. The prices seem to have jumped up to around the $10 mark, and there are aren't a lot of "complete" games (as in, not overglorified flash games. E.g. Sam & Max: Devil's Playhouse, Plants Vs Zombies etc.). I can't help but feel that Nintendo still has control over the "core" handheld gamer, especially if app sales decline like I suspect it will.

It's not just about the console but for the games for it.

Will the Ipad, Iphone, etc have Pokemon, Zelda, Mario? I don't think so.

Nintendo's handheld dominance ain't goin nowhere guys.

I'm not sure that's true, Apple is a "handheld console" in the same sense that farmville is a "game"

It is kind of ironic though, Nintendo hugely expanded the casual gaming market, practically creating it (I know they didn't, but they caused it to grow)

So if Apple beats them with casual games, then they kind of created a monster and destroyed themselves with it. Was it worth it Nintendo? Was it worth opening up your market to include old women and children? Huh?!

Hahaha Nintendo dying. Ah, good one.
That is an eventuality that will NOT come to pass; Nintendo has the tenacity of a Shadow heartless.

If Nintendo really are digging their own graves with the Wii & DS, then they are evidently doing so in the manner of the Pharaohs, and what will result shall not be a grave, but a massive bloody pyramid.

I think they mean that eventually they'll be crushed by the sheer mass of their gigantic pile of money.

I heard the same spiel when the Nokia N-Gage was coming out. It was the little taco shaped handheld that was going to overthrow Nintendo's handheld dominance. We all know how well that went.

Writing a bland and over-rated PS1 game gives him global authority on this matter does it?
If it were an Enix exec. or frankly anybody up in the marketing department I'd be able to take this seriously, but it just sounds like message board level hate from this guy.

And isn't this exactly the same response that the Nokia N-Gage garnered on it's release? Yeah, that's not the laughing stock of the gaming community or anything.

oh hell no, hell no.

Itouch and Ipad games generally suck, and DS permeation is unbelievably high.

The DS isn't going anywhere, hopefully next time they'll also release a console that doesn't suck.
