First of this kind of thread is as bad as Halo threads.
Secondly I think you should actually play the game first before saying this about it.
Sure it is not the best FF in some peoples eyes but it is up there in fairness to it.
What I like about it was,
The Materia system sure it problam isn't the best system they have used in FF games but I liked it as you could have any character fill any role. So say if you were really picky and didn't like you didn't have to have them in your group unlike FF9 where roles are set. Which isn't to say it's bad just different.
Also with this system you didn't have to learn spells like FF6 which has it's good and bad points.
Graphics in CGI now you can shout at gneral graphics all you like for being badly done polygonal figures but the game does shine here graphic wise and you have to give it that.
Also battle sequences had quite good graphics too.
Side Quests I like these in the game as I felt there was not too much or too little of them. I didn't feel as if I had to do every single little one to try get one really good weapon or materia to finish t he game(which you didn't).
It didn't feel oversaturated with them.
The Story I found the story really amazing and I ended up quite immersed in it.
Now if you took the time to grind the game could become a bit slow paced but the amount of grinding needed for this FF and say 6 is completely different nowhere near as much is required.
It is really up to you to go and play it. Definitely up there for the best FF in my opinion but if you do go to play it don't believe the after hype it has. It is great but it has been blowen out of proportion.
