It's not surprising that Final Fantasy games take more than 30-40 hours to complete, at that people with short attention-spans are going to be in trouble if they fancey buying. However, in a recent interview, Motomu Toriyama said that the main story is going to take at least 50 hours to complete - for an experienced gamer;

"FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama has told a mysterious Japanese magazine ? we're assuming it's Famitsu - that his imminent RPG won't be for the faint-hearted in terms of time-commitment.

"For XIII, the size of the entire game is considerable," he said, as reported by Kotaku.

"Just running through the main story takes experienced players over 50 hours. For the first time, I think it's possible to play through in full in about 60 hours or so."

All you 10-hour namby pambies had better man-up, innit. The Japanese version"s out next week. Europe and America get it in March.

How long it's going to take, with all the games extra mission and other content, we can only speculate.

Well, I've put about 70 hours into Lost Odyssey so far, and given its similarity to the Final Fantasy games I'm sure it shouldn't take too much effort to put in a similar amount of time into FFXIII. :)

Sorry for the double post, but w still cant trust devs to tell the truth when talking about game length.
GTA IVV was said to be 60 hours, Infamous 70.
Its a final fantasy, its going to be 50 hours.

I heard about this a while ago in the Final Fantasy Group, i am really excited for this game and want to get it as soon as i can. And then play it for as long as i can, all of it.

You know, that would be quite impressive if I haven't been playing games like that all my life, from Baldur's Gate 2 all the way to the recent Dragon Age. It might be unusual to the younger generation used to 10 hour single player campaigns, I guess...

Ehm... am I supposed to be impressed? I still haven't beaten FFXII and I'm about 65 hours in. I expect FFXIII to be at least 70 hours, or I want a partial refund.

Meh. I spend an awfully disproportionate amount of time playing RPGs. My average playtime for any RPG is well over 100 hours.

Even when the main storyline can be done much faster, I take my sweet time and end up doing a lot.

Granted my playtime is always skewed from times I leave the game on while I go eat and such, but still.

Squall was an emo-*****. Zell was a child. Irvine was a wimp (Oo I use a gun but I can't shoot someone). Seifer was just an emo-bully. Cid was Robin Williams.

Don't get me wrong, Final Fantasy 8 is a fantastic game. To say 'the men were men' though is, well, ridiculous.

On topic - Good. Let's just hope that doesn't become an excuse for scrimping on the side-quests...

So? Persona 3 and 4 are at least 90 hours, i've clocked over 100 hours in Pokemon, Fallout 3, and other Final Fantasies aswell, it's a good sign

haha aside from multiplayer, I do say I range about 6-10 hours for most games (no co-op)
and the 20+ hours of ACII is already a bit much for me (honestly, that's like a day of my life gone hahaha)
guess I just don't have THAT much time for gaming
but no, I am definitely interested in FFXIII
