king crab legs. They are awsome, but the shell is so hard to break that I've ruined up to 3 forks in just one meal.

Pomegranates, simply getting the seeds out of the thing is a lot of messy annoying and tasty work...
Was the first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread.

oranges. I have to spit out the seeds and peel them I hate the white skin on then so I have to peel every bit of it off. Takes too damn long.

I'm sitting at my desk with a bag of delicious lychees. They are incredibly tasty and have a rather unique, fresh fruity taste to them (I believe they are the sole members of their particular plant type).

They are however a complete pain to eat. Each is has a diameter of just under 2 inches and a rather large stone/pit in the middle. They are coated in thick scaly skin and it is almost impossible to put enough pressure on the skin to break it with out causing juice to explode out of the fruit.

So, what are the little treats you love that frustrate you beyond belief?
You should try dried Lychees. They tast a little different, but you can just pop them stright in your mouth.

Pistachios. After breaking a few open my fingers start to hurt, and it's even worse when the shell's completely closed, making you resort to biting on it. If they weren't so delicious I wouldn't bother.
Agreed. Great way to destroy your hands.

If eating food is a pain in the arse you're doing it wrong...

remember, IN at the top, OUT at the bottom, not the other way around.

Artichokes - you have more artichoke on your plate when you finish than you did when you started. And if you have them with garlic butter, you end up with butter drips down your arm.

Dungeness crabs and crayfish are easy, once you realize that you merely need to surrender your dignity and tear into them with all the gusto of a hungry otter.

Toblerones!! the fuckers can make your mouth bleed if you don't eat them properly, then give you a heart when you do finally eat one.
Word. Most painful chocolate bar ever. Especially those huge ones. I swear they're designed my sadists.
How, exactly, do you eat a Toblerone properly?
Break the chunks off manually, and allow to soften slightly in the mouth, then chew.
How do you break off the chunks? By hand? Cuz I just bite off a piece then allow to soften slightly in the mouth, then chew.

It's a tie between Bass (because I perfer to catch my own wich very rarely works out, why in the word is my cabin on a recreation lake)

and of course really large burgers. Everything always falls out. Which gets really annoying but it tastes way too good to get too worked up over it.

But oysters make me... um... well... Suffice to say i wish it was gas and extensive, explosive runs. Yes, there is worse.
Does it make one ultra-excited?
No, they do not.

Lets just say the first time it happened i honestly thought i had hours to live.

I no longer eat oysters. Inquire no further.
Thats really quite terrifying. Not that I ever cared for Oysters but now I don't think I will be trying them any time soon.

Grapefruit.
Forgot about that one. Love that stuff but you just cover yourself and the surrounding area in juice if you're not very careful.

I got one of those giant ones for Christmas... So tasty but so painful...

Another one is Pistachio nuts when the shell is closed up... I still try to open them and end up breaking my teeth...

why not just eat it like an orange? I'm sure that would cut the juice factor a bit.

It would, but they don't peel very well like the average orange would.
The skin is attached much firmer to the fruit than with an orange.
Peeling them is a real chore.

As for my own choice, I'd have to go with Lychees aswell.
They taste great, but such a pain to peel.
