This. That people would want to play as me would be good enough. Why do some guys have to go around looking for things to get upset about?

I find it a little funny, if your favorite guitarist or singer or drummer died and was in a game(about music like rock band or guitar hero) where you could play as him you figure you would be happy (Shoot I would be happy to see Hyde from L'arc~en~Ciel sing 99/100 Damashi no Tetsu by UVERWorld in Rock Band...although thats pointless since Hyde isn't dead...). Now I have no comment on Nirvana or Kurt cause I am not a fan nor really listen to them(I prefer J-Rock thank you). But you figure the "fans" would like to play as their favorite guitarist(Still waiting on rock band japan).

Can someone please tell me what part of "A mulatto an albino a mosquito my libido" held meaning to people?

Also, I don't see why people are getting upset over this. He died and his wife signed away his image. People would kill to be put into a Guitar Hero game and now suddenly it's become an insult? Honestly, Kurt Cobain wasn't a really good guy. The rest of Nirvana should be happy that he's still getting recognition after all these years.

I love how Courtney Love 'forgot' about that contract...
The same way she "forgot" she pulled the trigger?

You and I would be best friends! I love Jrock too!
Favorite bands are the Pillows (of course), the Beat Crusaders, and Asian Kung Fu Generation and Mr. Children

Really??! one of the greatest Guitarists of the LAST CENTURY?! COBAIN?!?

You know, there is a reason most people starting out learning to play guitar start off with Nirvana songs..
BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLE and EASY.
Calling Cobain a great guitarist is like saying that Tito Jackson was a guitar virtuoso.
Dude, shut up and quit bashing Kurt. Troll.

1) I never said more knowledge was a bad thing, just that it wasn't necessary.
2) Don't bring racism into this.
point #1

no, knowledge is not necessary. my point is that it should be. by not thinking knowledge is necessary, you basically say that there are certain aspects you would want to be ignorant about; and that you want other people to have the same. i pointed this out previously, yet you still come on with the same faulty argument.

denying yourself knowledge should not be as prevalent as it is today, because knowledge is the first step towards betterment. when you bring out an argument like that, you basically say that you like the world as it is today (and don't want it to change). you like the suffering of other people, the wars, the domestic crime percentage etc., because those are all part of present day earth.

fuck the children in africa starving, fuck soldiers getting killed daily and fuck people losing money or even their life to a random mugger. you're all that matters, and none of this could ever happen to you... right?

point #2

don't tell me what to bring or what not to bring when you don't have a proper argument lined up for this. racism is a perfect example of what should not happen because of ignorance; and it is necessary for our children to know that in order for it to not happen again.

3) Ignoring global warming (assuming everything said about it is true) will eventually cause people to suffer and die, so it falls under what I said.
the chaos theory tells us that butterfly flaps can cause typhoons halfway across the globe. keeping that in mind, anything you do can have severe effects. i.e., doing anything whatsoever will eventually cause people to suffer and die.

really, you're not the best judge to tell whether people will die or not based on your actions or knowledge. the people dying because of you are.

5) Yes, looking into music history will give you additional insight. Fine. Not disputing that (I still don't get how knowing every member of Metallica can prevent prejudice, but screw it). However, doing so is just an additional option in an already optional pasttime. You don't need to know how music's made to enjoy listening to it. I'm listening to music right now, and though I couldn't tell you the name of the song without looking, I'm still enjoying it.
again, you seem to believe that enjoyment, entertainment or interest matters. i don't know how many times i've said it already: it doesn't. i don't care whether you enjoy your song, it is irrelevant to the current discussion.

You can believe me or not. Your choice.
damn right it's my choice. and somehow after posting so much about the opposite, i have trouble believing you.

a final note:

i don't know why you defend that other guy, or why you defend ignorance. it seems like the most counter productive thing to do - unless you are satisfied with world as it is today. the problem is that people like you think it is not necessary to think. that it's good enough to just do whatever the hell you do and like. i don't know about you, but i at least have enough respect for my fellow man that i can try to change bits of the world one by one. what have you ever done for anyone beside yourself, your friends and your family?

Dude, shut up and quit bashing Kurt. Troll.
Oops my mistake. I accidentally had an opinion on an internet forum. My bad.

Actually, me disagreeing with a statement that Kurt Cobain was some kind of "guitar God" is not "bashing". Many, many, many guitarists and people not only share my opinion, but openly agree. Just ask any decent guitar player who is honest and he'll tell you the same thing... Cobain's guitar playing abilities were good enough to make songs, but he wasn't burning up the frets to join the ranks of people who are FAR more deserving of that title. I personally could play CIRCLES around Cobain, as a kid his songs were the FIRST ones I mastered.. now if a KID learning to play guitar can play your song as WELL as you could, either one of two things must be true... either the song wasn't difficult to write or play... OR.. I'm some kind of guitar prodigy myself and never realized it.

When you compare Cobain to guitarists like Johnny Greenwood, Johnny Marr, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kenny Wayne Shepard, John Mayer, Billy Corgan, Eric Clapton, Chris Cornell, Slash, or hell Ted Nugent or even freaking KEVIN JONAS, you quickly realize that Cobain wasn't doing anything revolutionary. What he DID do was craft the few chords he was proficient at playing into a sound that matched his ARGUABLY powerful lyrics. It was the SUM of his song writing that made him great, but his guitar playing was the very LEAST of those parts.

But hey, I'm a troll or whatever I guess. Sorry fanatical fans like you can't seem to understand differences of opinion.

Uhhh.... What would Kurt want?

That is the real question.
Probably not very much since he's dead. That kinda cuts your "List of things to think about." down to size.
I'm guessing your an atheist.
Well if he's up in Heaven/Nirvana(c wut i did thar?)/whatever Paradise or Punishment plane you personally aspire to, I dare say he's got more things on his mind than a video game. Maybe it's just me but if I was in Paradise I'd not be getting hung up on what a bunch of people on Earth think about me. There's rather more important things to do like...oh, I dunno, enjoying your afterlife in eternal bliss?

Just a thought.

And yes I am an Atheist, though I don't really see what that has to do with anything.
Because you clearly dont beleive in the afterlife.

Just sayin.
You know, people are almost never Just sayin'. There's almost always a point behind it. I'm curious as to what your point is. He's dead. Either a) there is no afterlife, thus he doesn't care because he's dead or b) there is an afterlife, and he probably doesn't care because he's dead and is up enjoying Paradise/enduring his Punishment.

So, once more: I don't see what my Atheistic tendencies have to do with this train of thought.
You said he's not thinking because he's dead, wich implies that you dont beleive in the afterlife, and if you were religious you would beleive in the afterlife, sooo....

I left it up to deduction.

Just sayin.
All religions ascribe to an Afterlife? That's not a terribly accurate deduction you've got there.
maybe it isn't, but the opposite is still true - atheists don't believe in an afterlife. so whether or not his deduction is "terribly inaccurate", his point still stands.

Pfft, just ignore them. I like Dave Grohl, but, come on, this is no different to the other times it's been done. What about when Elvis is used in things? He meant a lot to people to but you don't get this.

Last time I checked, he had an oppinon too, but you bashed him. So now i'm bashing you. So guess what? You dont get to pull the "Oh, I just was stating my oppinion." bullshit. ya you're right. it's totally disrespectful to have some guy who mumbles through his songs sing one by bon jovi
poor bon jovi...

a lot of kobain's lyrics are about subtext.. the whole song, smells like teen spirit means a lot to a lot of people. The individual lines don't necessarily mean a lot.

Haha, yea he was the drummer.
Oh right, I've only ever thought of him as being in the Foo Fighters. But then again I don't really like Nirvana so I wouldn't have known.
I'm fairly sure the foo fighters were composed of the surviving nirvana members, at least initially.
I'm fairly sure you need to check wikipedia once in a while, you make it sound like they were in a plane crash.
The point is, anyone who has a clue what Grunge is about, or what Kurt stood for or believed, would know that guitar hero are basically spitting in his face by doing this, even if Courtney signed some sort of contract, she shouldn't have the right to do that, no-one should.
And just for the record i don't think Jimmy Hendrix or Johnny Cash should have been made playable characters either, if someone is going to be in a game, they should at least be alive to conciously make the decision to sell out.
Besides, why do these games need to have playable characters based on real musicians? Rock Band have gotten along fine (apart from The Beatles, but that's a different story).

What else would you say about band members that didn't die, and thus, are still alive? They are the surviving members of the band, hence the definition of the word surviving.

What YOU did was attack me directly for having that disagreement.

If you can't tell the difference between a dispute in an argument and an ad hominem attack, then that explains everything.

Point is however, regardless of your feelings of "me", his declaration of Kurt Cobain being some guitar GOD. Notice how he (or she) replied and pointed out the "Arguably" point to me? That is us "DISCUSSING" like GROWN FOLKS a disagreement.

Notice where you chime in?

Ok, let's cut the crap to keep these posts down to size.

I believe people should be able to choose what they learn about after school. If they want to learn about the history of music (as an example), fine. But if they choose to learn nothing extra and just live their life as they are, that's fine too. But what I've read in your posts is that you want everyone to be forced to learn everything. You also seem to think I'm against change when I'm really pro-choice. I think people need to have full control over their life, instead of being told they have to learn something unnecessary by some random guy on the internet.

And that's what it is; unnecessary. Do you really think that Dave Grohl is going to be remembered in 500 years on the same level as Mozart? Is knowing that he was in one band for a few years going to save lives? At best, he might inspire someone to take up drumming, but the people who would be affected like that were probably already into music, so something else would have inspired them anyway. Plus, how many do you think were inspired to become musicians and promptly learned they sucked at it? How many people sunk thousands of dollers/pounds into learning music, only to end up stacking shelves (if they're lucky)? Yeah, that was really "the first step towards betterment", wasn't it?

PS: I told you not to bring racism into this because you are now putting the fact that one guy didn't know who Nirvana's drummer was on par with the slave trade. Then you added "children in africa starving", "soldiers getting killed daily", and "people losing money or even their life to a random mugger" to the list. Dude, it's fucking Nirvana.

Only as a guest, not as their regular drummer.
He did a whole album, that's fairly regular.
