Half life 2.

My impressions.

Play shitty level, get stuck, eventually look up how to proceed, play shitty level, get stuck, eventually look up how to proceed, play shitty level, get stuck, eventually look up how to proceed, play shitty level, get stuck, shred game disk.
Yes and that is why it's one of the highest ranking games of all time and the highest ranking pc game.

halo. i dont get it. seems like they remade unreal tournment. its just doesnt seem to have anything unique about it. but it seems to be so popular and treated like it the best thing since sliced bread. is it just that its like the only good xbox fps or something so all the xbox fanboys have to love it?

Team Fortress and Half Life games, just seem like any other shooters to me
Half-Life fanboy in me wants to say something unpleasant here but everyone has a right for an opinion so I wont.
I'm not a massive FPS fan to be honest, I loved Portal and await Portal 2, but ontop of not being a FPS fan I'm not a multiplayer fan so Team Fortress 2 is out, Half Life, I played one ages ago, 2 more recently but it felt samey compared to other FPS's, but like I said I don't play them often so they all feel the same.

it sounds like its not half lifes fault. its that you seem to suck at it. i think i had to look up a walk through once while playing half life and that was because i didnt relise that the game was so good that physics was involved. that part where your on like a jet ski thing and you come to a dead end and your meant to take floating barrels under watter to raise up a jump that your jet ski can use. after that it was smooth sailing.

Dragon Age Origins and Red Dead Redemption. I found both very boring halfway through.

When I saw the name of this thread, I thought to myself: "80% of people here will say Halo." Lo and behold....

Batman arkham asylum. Its a pretty bog standard game to be honest, yet it has great reviews and has gone platinum. I cant think of anything it does well.

Fifa 11.
It's just so mechanical that it's boring. This year's PES is a big improvement.

World Of Warcraft.
Online gaming just bores me. It's too simplified and repetitive compared to a good offline game.

Halo.
Could there be a more generic game? Honestly, it has so few original ideas or interesting features to grab my interest.

Warcraft games and Fallout games.

Seriously they are BORING and very badly written. WOW is the worst one of them all and needs to be destroyed.

Its been said a lot but Final Fantasy. I play a considerable amount of jrpgs but I've never considered any of the main final fantasies all that great. Tactics and Kingdom Hearts were fine but otherwise the final fantasy game play is a slog and the story is never strong enough to make that commitment worth it. It seems to me that the only thing that works in Final Fantasy is character design since that looks to me to be the elements drawing people in.

Fallout 3, Super Mario Bros.(GBC) and Gears of War 2. I only played Fallout 3 for a bit, and I can understand how people would like a sandbox game, but it was just boring going through gray rubble for hours and going to some sort of lame fetch quest. I got farther in Gears of War 2, and I liked the enemy diversity, but the game just wasn't fun at all. And I liked Gears of War, so I know it's not me.

And my god, Super Mario Bros., at least for the GBC, was completely awful. Every single time I was starting to have fun, I died 3 seconds later because the physics in the game are just so awful. I'll admit I'm not the best platformer ever, but I'd like to think I know my fair share considering I beat Mr. Skops on Rayman PS1.

Anything turn based or console RTS. God above do I hate turn based games.

Final Fantasy for example? The poster child of turn based stuff? Will NEVER see the draw. That and it just looks soooo fucking ridiculous. They style is just god-awful. Sorry to fans of the series, but when I see some really cool looking cinematic in a commercial with apparently epic combat, and its really just the same turn based "your guys line up over there, I'll stand over here with my guys, waiting to take it like a puss" gameplay, what's the point?
The only reason the older Final Fantasy games had it was to get around technical problems, just like random encounters. Oh, and it's called strategy. I can understand, thinking a battle through isn't what some people like, but unlike games like Halo, you cannot beat the game without knowing how to de/buff characters.

The entire Halo series.

I truly don't understand all the hype. The story is hard to follow, the scenery is blah and the main character is just another mindless power-armored goon.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is solid, but that's not saying much. Under the surface, Halo is just another mediocre FPS.

I had this reaction to Bioshock. I certainly never thought it was bad - not by any measure; it's definitely a stand-up title - but I just didn't find it as substantive or intense as other games I've played. Maybe it's just because I played the game late. I only got it this year, I think.

Oh my god I can't beleive I'm going to say this. But I didn't like Half-Life. It just never seemed that great. I've got nothing against the people who do like it, but it's just not that amazing to me...
This :/ Not what you thought the quote was going to say eh? Haha :)

O.T.
Oh and Portal :S Never quite got that. It was basically a better quality puzzle type game than I could have got on the internet at that time. Although, games on the internet seem to have really kicked up especially on Newgrounds for example.
