Umm... none really..

I mean, sure, there are plenty of games that other people love and that I do not. Fallout 3 and Dragon Age come to mind.

But I can usually understand why other people like them.

actually... no i have not, but i have heard of it. wait, is it that one game you attack using the analog stick and its all like sci fi and angles pick you up whenever you die and put you back in the exact same place with no consiquences? i like that game, though many did not
That sounds like Too Human to me.

Why. Thank you, good Sir. Though I'm sure plenty of folks will disagree.
Oh yes. And also brim with murderous rage! Raaargh!

Saying that helps to prove you have a good sense about rpgs.
Or that you dislike one particular RPG. I loved Fallout 3.

OT: I don't like FPS games, sooo...pretty much any FPS that everyone else likes. Except BioShock, that is. Oh, and games where the emphasis is on multiplayer, because fuck those guys.

A lot of you may already know what game I'm going to nominate for most overhyped.
You get three guesses.
Here's a hint: It starts with an H and ends with an ALO.

Oblivion.
The voice acting sucks, the combat sucks, the main quest sucks, the level up system sucks, the world is not interesting.

There are far better RPG-s out there to be bothered by this piece of shit.

Played Psychonauts for a while because everybody in here recommended it. But I thought it was really boring, and I quickly got sick of it.

For all those who dislike Starcraft, I think the popularity of the game comes from it being so simple, balanced, and still relying so much on tactics around base building, army building and economy. I like it, and I've come to like the second one too. Though the story in the second one wasn't at all as good as it was made out to be. Especially the ending.

Allow me to offer you a pancake to stem the rage, Mister Waffle.

*scurries out before she gets murdered*

OT: I also don't get the MW2 and Halo love. But that's just me liking games with substance.

Modern Warfare two. Its too damn hard to play online and it looks like a pretty average fps to me.

Dragon Age Origins, look I was excited for it because I enjoyed Mass Effect but DA was just an awful, boring, generic and awkward game to play with what seemed to me a very generic story...i just didn't understand what was good about it

EDIT: Infact, I don't quite understand why Bioware are so popular on this site, maybe for nostalgia of balders gate or Neverwinter Nights but I found their games this gen to be a bit meh, I did enjoy Mass Effect 1 and 2 but they weren't as amazing as everyone here says and I really disliked dragon age and didnt think it worked...

The GTA-series

I don't know exactly why, but those games just don't sit right with me. Games are supposed to be fun, right? Those aren't very much fun in my eyes =/

No amount of flame sheilds can protect you for the nuclear explosions mixed with napalm and flamethrowers coming at you!

Dont suppsoe you have played something like Baldurs Gate or the like?

No thats Too Human. The main characters name is Baldur (its from Norse mythology i believe). Baldur's Gate is a western RPG using the Dungeons and Dragons AD&D rules i believe (or some version of it). Very solid gameplay with a fantastic story to boot.

I'll have to say Shadow of Colossus, I just didn't find the game good but people seem to put the game on a holy pedastal.

I really don't get the love for the Half-Life series. Well, I won't be ignorant, I get the love for the first Half-Life, but the problem is that it was good, or at least revolutionary, as far as the first game is concerned. The second is little more then a mute protaganist hurtling inevitably towards glory because... well, because. Which sounds an awful lot like Halo to me. Really, with the second game, I only found three major differences between it and the Halo series.

1. Master Chief talks.

2. Half-Life 2 remains in the first-person perspective.

3. Gordan Freeman was never formally given military training.

"Inevitably towards glory" ? You've played HL2 to the end, right?

And I seriously doubt those are the only differences you can find; more like they're the only differences you're willing to see.

OT: I'm going to go slightly sideways from games, and say Rockstar's stories and protagonists.

Let's just clear up the fact that both GTA IV and RD: Redemption have hideous pacing, and two incredibly inconsistent protagonists.

Still, I liked RDR.
