Some moments in Mother 3. One of the very few games that manages to be funny and depressing at the same time and a huge contrast with Earthbound.

World of Warcraft. Taking a break, only to realise you've just completely wasted a whole day.
Seconded, but this is about 1000000000 fold after you quit WoW, sucks to realize how much time I wasted... *sigh*
Yeah, this.

Shadow of The Collosus. The world is so beautiful, yet it is entirely empty, and boring. One of the most over-rated games ever IMO.

Fallout 3. It's just such a grim and hopeless world.
What really bugs me out in Fallout 3 is the mess of buildings to the south of DC. Head to Rivet City and look to the south. That massive conglomeration of twisted metal skeletons just bugs me out.

I might be the only person that this happened to, but at the end of the First Act on Far cry 2, where...

all of your buddies are massacred in the bar and they all get thrown onto that truck with you...

...I felt pretty alone because I knew if I was downed in a gunfight I couldn't be saved =(

Recent sonic games depress me for obvious reasons.

When I buy a game and play it, only to find that it's actually BAD, that depresses me.

When a game has been hyped to death, then I play it and don't have a good time, that depresses me.

When I play Soul Caliber 3 against computers, that depresses me.

Usually, what gets me depressed is when I care so much about the characters in a video game/tv show/movie, that I want them to exist, or I want to exist in their world. Then I get depressed because I know that can never come true.

i'm not sure if any of you played any of Yahtzees' games. But, 1213 was one of the best stories I'd ever read and I thought that it was a severely depressing game as well. A very well made tragedy/drama.

Fallout 3 has a lot of bitter pills scattered around for you to swallow, but there was one particular moment which really made me feel sorry for my character.
He's one of the good guys proudly wearing his regulator duster, on top of that he just lost his dad, then after his latest deed, basically saving everyone's sorry asses he was sent away. Details in the spoiler.

After setting everything straight at Vault 101, talking the overseer back to his senses, new Miss Overseer sent my character away, being the self-righteous cow she turns out to be.

There lies so much in that moment as he steps out the Vault for the second time, seeing the same scenery he saw when he first left the only home, the only world he knew. He looks into the wasteland and sees the still exact same wasteland after all his efforts, having no one left of his family, being rejected from his home. The loneliness surrounding that poor guy really touched me for a moment. :)
I could almost hear him yell "What's the f'ing point?!"

After that I started to play one hell of a cutthroat *****. :>

Probably Portal because I expected so much from it. So Then I played Half Life 2 and felt much better.=]
You are of course being ironic. As we all know that Portal is the only perfect game in existence. After all, even ZP couldn't really say anything bad about it. Any game that can make you lament the "demise" of an inanimate object deserves recognition...:)

While it didn't really go so far as to depress me, the ending of Braid was one that definitely made me pause for thought.
I disagree. Portal is far from perfect. Despite what Yatzee, Game Informer or anyone else for that matter may think of the game I still found it to be the blandest part of the Orange Box. And I still fail to see how and why people go super emotional over a cube or why Portal is seen as being better than the second coming of Christ.
What truly confounds me is why no one says anything about the ending for for Half Life 2:Episode 2. When I finished it, I almost started bawling. I guess they're to busy telling everyone out there that the cake is a lie.
