-Farcry 2: Once i realized that the graphics were the ONLY selling point of the game, which was about the first time i shot a gun, i had it uninstalling in a heartbeat. '

-Oblivion: I originally hated Oblivion because i somehow (don't ask me how) managed to skip the ENTIRE tutorial section and ended up on the imperial city island with no idea how to get anywhere. I went back and replayed it a year later and fell in love, but that was on PC.

-Gears of War 2: Hated it as soon as Fenix started talking.

Lost Planet 2, the fact that I had to go through an online-style lobby in order to play single player. I immediately felt as if I had knocked on the wrong door or something.

Two Worlds
The voice acting annoyed me so much i muted it and made up my own words for them made for a much better story as well although i didn't know what was going on in the first place and the lack of directions didn't help so i spent 3 hours killing camps of orc remakes

Bad Company 2

The campaign made no sense, multiplayer was cheap (Magnum Rounds, spawn kills, etc.), and my limited edition code didn't work.

God damn EA you evil masterminds.

Lost Odyssey, I've thought highly of Final Fantasies in the past and, as this was from the same creators I thought it may have been good. I was wrong.
That's a shame, I liked it. Although it does get better after the beginning. We all have our own opinions though :). The game I didn't like after the first five-ten minutes was "Alone in dark", at first I was enjoying it slightly, but then that quickly stopped.

Oblivion.

Hideously generic setting, bland writing, abrasive voice acting--with some exceptions. Dull combat, frustrating difficulty scaling, plentiful glitches... I just kind of found the whole game to be boring and lacking in structure. It's impressive in several ways, and I can see why so many people enjoy it, but it's just not for me.

Boiling Point - Road to Hell

Damn that was awful, and a waste of $2-3, not more luckily.

i'm pretty careful and selective of games i buy so it isn't too often that i don't know what to expect from a title, but the sole exception that i can think of was Peter Molyneux's Black and White.

hated it.

I haven't done this in a while, put a game away after the first 5 min... but...

The original Resident Evil. Admittedly I was spoiled by 4 and 5 (I wanted to have played the entire series). I couldn't get over how the character was controlled based on where they were facing rather than where the camera was facing.

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. Oddworld's first foray into the world of 3d just disappointed me (I enjoyed Abe's Oddysee, Exodus, and Stranger's Wrath). It felt like another 3d action/platformer... and those just aren't my thing.

.....

And the people who claimed Black and White are lying. You don't get your creature until at least 20 min in. =P

Ok ill say it......COD Moodern Warfare 2 for the reason that the multiplayer just sucked. The lag was aweful (and I have a good connection before you ask), the weapons werent properly balanced, the gamplay was sloppy and the noobs tactics (camping and weapon choices like noob tubers) constantly left me frustrated with the whole thing. i was impressed with single player and co-op but i didnt buy the game for them.

This is just my opinion of the game and im sure some of these things have been patched but ill stick with the superior battlefield games :p

Deadly Siren 2. Me and my flat mate was looking for a good survival horror game. We rented out this piece of shit under the misunderstanding that this would fit the bill. Characters move around really awkward. My flat mate died 10 times at the very beginning of the game, just because he was unable to steer the character across a thin woodern plank that stands precariously over the harbour waters. The mechanics are annoying, the fact that you can't permentantly kill anything is irritating, and worst of all, we didn't find it at all frightening.

Terrible, terrible game.

I think I knew I hated Final Fantasy XII in the first five minutes but I deluded myself up until about the 6 hour mark (at which point I was about 3% through the game) when I said "Fuck this". I've since picked up the game and given it another chance and didn't get past the first hour.

Half life 2, Portal.
How come?! You must feel pretty lonely in the internet and in the gaming community...
Damn a ninjad question. As an avid fan of the series i have to ask why? Please give an explanation if you choose a game, its fun to see what little game mechanics are a massive "BACK TO THE STORE!" for people.
Yes i do feel lonley since am the only one lol.

My reasons eh alrght i'll shoot. The story was incredibly boring in half life 2. The running around then going oh no escape on the roof tops (ZZZZ) I still had hope kept playing then suddenly OHH No! headcrabs falling from the sky for no Raisin!! (is there even a reason?) I was frustrated but i kept going and what really killed it for me what really made me want to destroy the game was one moment. I had to drive this buggy in the desert or whatever you wanna call it. Now the controls and driving was terrible enough!!! and it went on forever! Then suddenly it got stuck like no joke i did everything i could it was completly stuck am like i'll just walk. I arrive and learn i can't F***** continue! because i dont have one of the worst veichicles ever! are you high! so i quit i couldnt take it. I had more fun playing a starcraft match (only 10 mins long) then playing Half life 2 or hours!.

Then what killed it for portal was all the memes and the community hyping it up.
This might have something to do with your age. Don't hit me yet. What I mean is, when HL2 came out, you were about 12. I have no idea how much gaming you had done by then, maybe not much.
At the time the beginning of HL2 was one of the most dramatic and atmospheric moments to date in a game, combing the atomssphere with (then) amazing graphics. Since a few years even bad games (Haze anyone?) can look alright til good and the dynamics that half-life innovated have been copied a lot, so.. maybe thats what curbed your experience. Just wild guessing.

For me, the part where you ride the boat were such a stupid amount of fun that I completly ignored the driving. Doding mines in a boat and jumping around with it is just too cool, no matter how annoying the controls are (be glad you never played episode 2, the horrible car returns!).

I waited years before I tried portal because the internet hype was silly.
But the game really is that good. A hype deserved.

EDIT
On topic.. Daikatana and FF7. I liked FF8 though, mainly because I ABSOLUTELY HATE CLOUD. And his hair.

Devil May Cry 4, because I disliked the characters. I don't like Nero as he is a cocky, whiny brat that really needs to be taken down a peg or two, Nero's love interest, who was bland and couldn't see that Nero had a demon's arm, I mean, yeah, he pulled his coat sleeve down but you could see that he had a glowing blue hand for god's sake. Dante is OK I guess, because at least his character was consistent throughout the series, a smarmy asshole who could dispatch demons with style. Also, I know this wasn't 5 minutes into the game but when you had to go through all the levels again, but in reverse order, with Dante and fighting the same bosses? That reeeaaallly pissed me off.

I'm bracing myself for possible backlash here, but World of Warcraft. I got my hands on the free trial, and by god was I bored by it: hours of being told to kill X amount of monsters with only the thinnest veneer of a story to tell me why I should. In fairness though, I ended up stealing time on my brothers account after he swore the game would improve, and got a character to about level thirty before I decided that I'd had enough.

I gave it a chance, but if I have to spend so much time playing to even get to 'the good bits', then it's not the game for me.
High five! I got bored of it really fast too!

Def Jam: Icon. I was so excited to play this game, considering fight for New York. I started to play it and I had absolutely NO idea what the heck was going on. I threw my controller down i disgust. and since then I've been lamenting just how good a sequel to Fight for New York could be on 360, and how much they just rueened it. It's was just rueened.
Oh god, I played the demo and said, this is not def jam. This is shit. Remake Def Jam New York for online play and coop for new platforms and ill be happy.

Prototype. Bad graphics, bad city, and the fact that the coolest mechanic in the game was very shallow (morphing into people) made me return it for 1/4 the price.

And as far as the Half-Life 2 discussion goes,I have to say that I somewhat agree with the haters. Although I don't think the game is bad enough to ever return or get bored after five minutes, I do find it extremely hard to get myself to pick it up and play. To me it seems like the entire game is just running and gunning with a few vehicle sections. There's no cover system, no aiming down the sights, no special abilities of any kind, it just seems like the gun-play is really boring. Although I do like the rest of the game, such as the puzzles and gravity gun and such.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Character creation sucked, I get to the story, and it sounds pretty dull, I battled a few people, and then I went to the menu to equip some stuff, and I realized that I despise the game. Great story right?
