A brief list of annoyances.
In town, the character voices are all the same level, regardless of direction and distance. In a crowded area, you have 14 loud conversations in your ears.
Something tells me you had the Xbox360 version, because this didn't happen on the PC (at least not for me), and a friend of mine who has it on Xbox have been complaining about the very same thing.

Outside of town you have to wear a gas mask, because of course the world is poisonous. You really can't tell how much time you have left on the mask filters, or if the next one is any better, so you can't plan for the mask exchange. When it fails, it fogs your vision and you have heavy breathing noises. This always happens in combat. The maps are complicated environments but there are invisible walls everywhere, forcing you to go... somewhere. You don't have a map so you're running blind (from the mask), trying to find your way through the level to an unmarked objective.
You do not have to wear the mask a lot during the game actually, and the filters had their timers on the watch (the red-yellow-green quarter at around 1, 2 and 3 o'clock). Changing gas masks is something you only need to do when it get cracks, as you do not gain time from changing masks. I agree that the maps could be a bit clumsy at times though, but the journal had a compass in the top corner (it even glows in the dark).

You randomly find guns, but you have no way of knowing if its better than what you have.
There wasn't a lot of guns in the game actually, just a lot of modifications. You could go to a gun vendor and he would make comments while you're browsing, telling you if it is better, the same, worse or different.

The buttons for control have dual purposes if you hold them down. "F" for flashlight also brings up your flashlight battery charger. So in the middle of combat, if you mean to turn your light on and hold for an extra second, the charger pops up and you have to fumble for keys trying to get rid of it, then turn the light on or off.
I didn't find this to be much of a problem as I didn't press the flashlight-key for three seconds if I wanted to turn it on/off.

It has save points and you can't quick save.
Quick saves could have made sure you got stuck a lot of times, so I can understand why they chose not to have quick saves in the game, but it did annoy me a couple of times too.

It has crap loads of cut scenes.
I thought that was nice personally, helped the story advance a lot, and made it a bit more "epic".
Hmm, I thought Metro 2033 was a good game (the ending was a bit disappointing, but put the game in new light). But, hey, you're entitled to your own opinion, just trying to get you to give it another try ^_^

Anyways, I strongly disliked (hate is a too powerful word,) Legendary. The game had an amazing concept, but they failed to deliver it imho. It was also annoying how the game multiplied your sensitivty with 1.7 when you went to a crouching position >_<
Another game would be Risen, as I strongly disliked it for the clunky fighting controls, and that the game was unforgiving... Oh you died, eh? Well, I'll just let you choose between your autosave from 30 minutes ago, or the self-made "quick"-save (so called because you had to go to the menu, hit "save game", pick a slot, and write a name for said slot, y'know, like we usually do with normal saves?) >_<
