Aside from the obvious stuff like horrendous controls or play mechanics, I'm all about the characters - or not. I knew I'd hate playing Uncharted 1/2 the moment Nathan Drake opened his dumbass mouth, which is why I staunchly refuse to buy these games despite universally stellar reviews. I also know I hate Eizo, so AC2 isn't an option. And Bayonetta? I actually hate the extended families of everyone involved in her creation.

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. It looks like Hitman 2 and is buggy, I didn't even get to actually robbing a bank.

Clive Barker presents Clive Barker's Jericho, a Clive Barker game by Clive Barker. The world is open and enemies come up behind you very quickly and the audio cues are terrible. Oh, and then the QTEs come in.

Black and White - Peter Molyneux may actually be Satan's representative on earth. We were told this would be amazing. It would be god game, RPG, strategy and much more. It was a 50 foot cow sitting on a hut, flinging shit at villagers. It didn't matter what you did, your avatar sat on a hut, flinging shit. It was like bringing up Wayne Rooney.
Maybe the cow always flings poo, I always chose the tiger. I wasn't impressed with Black & White or the Fable series. Peter Molyneux has great *ideas*, he just doesn't do so well getting them made into games -- or he's Satan.

Vampire Rain... It actually only took three minutes but its close enough.
It looks like a bad PS2 game and controls like an early PS1 title.

Kingdom hearts, got to the first black big boss on that paradise island. Couldn't beat it, got bored stopped playing. btw it was seven years ago so I probably sucked but that was still a hard boss and it was in the beginning of the game and it took ages to get to it after u died...

A brief list of annoyances.
In town, the character voices are all the same level, regardless of direction and distance. In a crowded area, you have 14 loud conversations in your ears.
Something tells me you had the Xbox360 version, because this didn't happen on the PC (at least not for me), and a friend of mine who has it on Xbox have been complaining about the very same thing.

DancingMonkey said:
Outside of town you have to wear a gas mask, because of course the world is poisonous. You really can't tell how much time you have left on the mask filters, or if the next one is any better, so you can't plan for the mask exchange. When it fails, it fogs your vision and you have heavy breathing noises. This always happens in combat. The maps are complicated environments but there are invisible walls everywhere, forcing you to go... somewhere. You don't have a map so you're running blind (from the mask), trying to find your way through the level to an unmarked objective.
You do not have to wear the mask a lot during the game actually, and the filters had their timers on the watch (the red-yellow-green quarter at around 1, 2 and 3 o'clock). Changing gas masks is something you only need to do when it get cracks, as you do not gain time from changing masks. I agree that the maps could be a bit clumsy at times though, but the journal had a compass in the top corner (it even glows in the dark).

DancingMonkey said:
You randomly find guns, but you have no way of knowing if its better than what you have.
There wasn't a lot of guns in the game actually, just a lot of modifications. You could go to a gun vendor and he would make comments while you're browsing, telling you if it is better, the same, worse or different.

DancingMonkey said:
The buttons for control have dual purposes if you hold them down. "F" for flashlight also brings up your flashlight battery charger. So in the middle of combat, if you mean to turn your light on and hold for an extra second, the charger pops up and you have to fumble for keys trying to get rid of it, then turn the light on or off.
I didn't find this to be much of a problem as I didn't press the flashlight-key for three seconds if I wanted to turn it on/off.

It has save points and you can't quick save.
Quick saves could have made sure you got stuck a lot of times, so I can understand why they chose not to have quick saves in the game, but it did annoy me a couple of times too.

DancingMonkey said:
It has crap loads of cut scenes.
I thought that was nice personally, helped the story advance a lot, and made it a bit more "epic".

Hmm, I thought Metro 2033 was a good game (the ending was a bit disappointing, but put the game in new light). But, hey, you're entitled to your own opinion, just trying to get you to give it another try ^_^
---------

Anyways, I strongly disliked (hate is a too powerful word,) Legendary. The game had an amazing concept, but they failed to deliver it imho. It was also annoying how the game multiplied your sensitivty with 1.7 when you went to a crouching position >_<

Another game would be Risen, as I strongly disliked it for the clunky fighting controls, and that the game was unforgiving... Oh you died, eh? Well, I'll just let you choose between your autosave from 30 minutes ago, or the self-made "quick"-save (so called because you had to go to the menu, hit "save game", pick a slot, and write a name for said slot, y'know, like we usually do with normal saves?) >_<

The guy gave an opinion, whether it's a good or bad one doesn't really matter. It's a thread about things you don't like. Not why you don't like them and why every fan within a 5 thread radius should collectively take a dump on your thoughts. For the sake of proving me wrong agree to disagree.

Personally I didn't like HF2 either. It had the loneliness of Fallout without the vast amount of options to make up for it. To me the only redeeming quality would have to be the COOP servers I play on which made me so happy for playing it on PC instead of console. Do I think it's utterly a waste of money? No I don't. But neither do I believe it's a classic. It's a matter of taste and opinion because no matter how good something is there will always be people who look at it and go meh.
See, now that's a logical and well-written argument. Different people have different tastes and I can respect that...
But if somebody is gonna complain "Why duz raisin of hedcrabs fall down?", then get defensive and cry 'fanboy!' once someone politely explains a counterpoint, then that rubs me the wrong way. I loved Half-Life 2. The rest of the series didn't really do it for me, but that's besides the point. If you're not willing to discuss your opinion like a reasonable adult you either shouldn't put it out there or at the very least avoid lashing out like a petulant child when someone tries to disagree.

On-topic, I would say Bioshock 2, and Monster Hunter Tri... I generally give games more of a chance, in fact, I beat Bioshock 2... Though I could never shake the initial dismal feeling there were some points in the middle that almost made it good before the ending brought it down past the initial disappointment.

HALO
MW2

If you think I am "trying to be cool", you can eat a bowl of shit. I honestly hated both of these games within five minutes of first playing them.
Well how about arguing your point rather than just telling everyone to fuck off? Personally I don't give a damn who likes what, as long as they can say why.

That's the main reason people get pissed off when people insult popular games. They usually just go "Halo sucks nuff said".
Sure thing, we'll do Halo first.

1. The fact that you can jump twenty feet in the goddamn air, but can't seem to move faster than a leisurely stroll

2. Shields. They're bullshit. I could see being able to pick up a shield as an item, but to have one that's on all of the time and that recharges itself is lame and is the cancer that killed the FPS genre.

3. On the subject of shields, it's amazing how they can protect you from bullets and energy weapons, but they can't seem to do a damn thing against melee attacks. Absolutely retarded.

4. The fact that HALO is responsible for the media's portrayal of the "gamer" as a juvenile young adult who does shiftwork and more often than not, smokes grass.

5. The fact that HALO is responsible for the media's portrayal of video games as being synonymous with space marine shooters.

6. The fact that HALO is responsible for producing an entire generation of dipshits who believe "Because I'm good at HALO, I'll be a bad-ass war hero if I join the infantry!"

7. The fact that HALO has allowed developers to get lazy by constantly making space marine games.

8. The covenant is lame.

9. Plasma cannot home in on a target. While this may be petty, I don't care.

10. Pillar of Autumn is a stupid name for a ship.

11. There is no level-editor despite the fact that the Xbox had a hard drive while the PS2 and GameCube didn't.

12. HALO gave birth to the phenomenon that is killing gaming: developing a multiplayer game and then shoehorn a <12 hour (now commonly <7 hour) single player campaign mode into it.

13. Because of HALO's success, every game that comes out has to have some manner of bullshit "online multiplayer" mode. I play games when I am alone. If I wanted to have to talk to people, I'd go hang out with my friends and drink beer.

Wow, I completely forgot to post about why MW2 sucks, In reality, it doesn't matter because you can take quite a few of these statements and replace "HALO" with "MW2" and get the same results.

Well I'm pretty tolerable and I've never thought "I hate this game" within the first 5 minutes, I mean the first time I played Fallout it was five or ten minutes in that I had to stop because they didn't throw me a bone and I was losing days until the water ran out at a rapid rate (But I've given it a second chance and it's pretty good).

But in terms of games that I realised I hated before I'd even reached halfway, definitely Mass Effect, which was really unfortunate because I freaking loved Jade Empire (Make a jade empire 2 Bioware and I will forgive all your sci-fi RPGs).

I have no idea why fanboys are jumping down my throat.
I'll answer for you: He's a FANBOY!. Anything that is against a fanboy's opinion must be immediately jumped on and discredited.
Something I've noticed. If its a PC game thats the focus of the fanboy(ism), then they arent seen as fanboys by the majority of people.

You gave your opinion and reasons for it, and that is apparently wrong.

Certainly a valid opinion but one I'm afraid I can't share. Half Life 2 succeeded for me, in part, because it felt so alive. The world was crafted with such a loving attention to detail that few games get. To me it really felt like I was standing in the main character's shoes. (which is ironic because it's one of those FPS games where you can't actually see your feet by looking down. Just a floating gun I guess. But I digress, this is a pet peeve for an entirely different thread.)

Actually, agreed. I believe we have both left this conversation the victor :p

OH GOD! Don't get me started on Bioschock 2. When I heard you play as a big daddy I nearly shat myself and punched my friend out of excitement. Then I played it...god I should have read the reviews. I was expecting to feel powerful, like a Big Daddy should, but using the fluff as justification they made him basically the same as the last character. Damn it! I want to play as a Big Daddy! I want to feel like a juggernaut that destroys other juggernauts!! Ok, my anger is over. God it was so disappointing to me...

Lost Odyssey, I've thought highly of Final Fantasies in the past and, as this was from the same creators I thought it may have been good. I was wrong.
LMAO THAT! Thank god another RPG fan noticed something went wrong when Hironobu Sakaguchi was the director of a game that was shit. Unfortunately for me, I'm so patient to wait for an RPG's story to immerse me, I didn't say fuck it till the end of the 1st disk which was about 6 hours in. It was sad, especially since I was hooked onto Blue Dragon Longer, and its combat system is just as dated. Though I will note I was able to stand the game long enough to get towards the end before someone stole my game, so it wasn't all bad. Just mostly.

For me it was Mass Effect. After a few hours I felt like the combat consisted of: put infinite ammo giant target reticle over enemy, hold Mouse 1 til dead. It just didn't feel like my ability to aim or maneuver made the slightest difference to accurate my shots were. The story seemed to be going somewhere good but the gameplay just fell over.

I really liked Mass Effect 2 though so they did something right.
