The newer Prince of Persia game (the one that came after two thrones but before forgotten sands). The moment i sat down with it i knew i wanted nothing to do with it. yeah the acrobatics were there but i hated the combat and the fact you could fall to your death, and the lack of time rewind was the final nail in the coffin.

Some people may not agree, but Battlefield 2 for the xbox.
I'm a fan of the Battlefield series, though i've only really played the older ones like 1942 and DCX but the 360 adaption of Battlefield 2 just isn't the same. There are no massive offline battles where you could just fly around in your Heli mowing down the enemy!(you know what I mean). So I started the campaign with an assault class, then I died really quickly of course but when you die, you zip into the soul of one of your team mates (which I think is a good idea) but my team were all using shotguns- anyone will know that shotguns at range aren't exactly effective. So as the shotgun class was innapropriate for the level, I died- again, then i went into the soul of another shotgunner and the same happened, i kept tring a few more times but it was like the domino effect. After about half an hour I had became fed up and switched it off.

Haven: call of the King.

If you praise this game, in any form, you will go to hell.

and to think its from the same company as Dr. Muto.

I liked Muto. What did they do with that worth playing-ness?

Too Human pitty i loved the idea of it, but they had to fuck it up didn't they.
Yh, but you've got to admire that it must take alot of skill to take 9 years to make a crap game.

Mercenaries 2. The controls, the graphics, the voice acting.. it was a perfect storm of suck. Glad I got it for 2 dollars on sale.

Red Dead Redemption. Not so much that I hated it, more that I played the crap out of GTA3 and Vice City, and had to force myself with a gun to finish GTA 4. Sadly I was 'forced' to buy it by my friends so we could play online together, only to realize 5 minutes in that I really hate the 'gta scheme' that it follows. Also the online was crap, which was just insult to injury.

Assassins Creed 2. How a game about assassins assassinating assassination targets can be so mind numbing, I do not know, but there is some real talent at Ubisoft. Though to be fair, it took me about an hour and a half to get sick of it, as opposed to 5 minutes.
Took the words out of my mouth regarding the online part of RDR. Hated it, after being told told by everyone how ZOMGAWESUM it was.

Offline, I bought Black for the PS2, realised five minutes in that it was possibly the most overrated game I'd ever played, gritted my teeth and forced myself to finish it.

I got Spellforce 2 with a graphics card a few years ago. It was terrible.

Half Life 2. The combat irritated me so much, I had no idea what was going on, and I kept getting lost...I had to force myself to play past getting a pistol.
I recently bought the orange box and I must say I like the simple combat and the slight puzzles. I must laugh at you getting lost, the only trouble I had was when I had gone through a save point with very little health left and had to load the previous autosave, or occasionally having to restat a chapter.

Dungeon Keeper 2. It took the game longer to boot than for me to realize that playing any more of it would justify extremely painful suicide.

I would say Modern Warfare 2 but I suspect someone did so before me.

Mhmm... Cossacks II I guess. Too complex for FPS fanboys :p

There have been a few games where I thought "Thank God I only rented it":
Super Smash Bros Melee. Might have enjoyed it more with friends, no enjoyable single player mode
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Seriously hated the repetitive hub world.
MySims/Animal Crossing. They were practically the same game. Neither were any good.

As for games I actually purchased:
Half Life 2. This was basically just a Rage Quit after falling off a building while being chased. I'll likely come back to it eventually. I hate leaving games unfinished.

That's about it. I usually don't buy new games unless I actually want to play them. Hell, Half Life 2 just came as part of the Orange Box, which I mainly wanted for TF2 and Portal.

Assassin's Creed 2

There's something about changing from a third person stealth into some type of RPG that sets me off. I loved the first one and was massively disappointed by the sequel.
Either you haven't played an RPG before or you weren't playing AC2.
I thought it was like a really bad open world RPG, like you had to buy items, you could get coin, there were pointless sidequests for coin. That kind of stuff. It's missing stuff a conventional RPG would have but I still think it counts as one. Either way, I still enjoyed the first game better.

I've never hated a game before. If I'm playing a crappy game like two worlds or shadow the hedgehog I usually keep playing and make fun of it how much it sucks (especially shadow the hedgehog).

DISCLAIMER: I've tried these games for at least an hour if not more, so kinda cheating on this, but 5 mins just isn't enough time to test the waters imo.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion: I had just played halfway through fallout3 and I couldn't shake the impression I was playing a crappier medievil version of it.
Started off on a horrible impression with the character creation, and it just went downhill from there. Complete lack of immersion (for a whole variety of reasons) killed this game for me and any interest I might have for this world.

And I'm a +1 to what a few others have said:

Portal: Hyped up beyond measure, it didn't help that I watched a playthrough of it some time ago so knew how it ended (and Glados is but a pale imitation of SHODAN in my eyes) as well as the story.
Really the only part of the game left for me was solving the puzzles on my own, but not being a big puzzle game fan it just didn't catch my fancy.

Half life 2: There's quite a few reasons for this, all of them personal so please don't jump on me for this one ¬¬ Let's just say the final straw was just getting the gravity gun and being separated from Alyx after that tunnel collapse. Gravity gun+robot that could easily clear the way and I was still forced to go the other way? Screw it, I hated the way so much of the game felt forced on me, like I needed to play it ITS way, no more was this evident then the logic of the level design. Rather then trying to find my own way, I was desperately trying to go the way the game wanted/allowed me to go(some people here say they got lost in HL2, i would guess this is the reason why).
Chase scene especially annoyed me for this (even though I did find it thrilling at times ^^), quite a few times I'd slow down and explore to see where the game wanted me to go (giving combine ample time to catch me if they desired, but they didnt and this killed the thrill somewhat when I realize I actually wasn't being chased), not having been given much directions or a vague idea of where I'm heading to until half way in it (and the map didn't really tell me much tbh).
If this was a sandbox game, combine would have caught me a million times already while I was trying to figure out what was the "correct" way to go.
Oh and I hate freeman as a character, the guy has the personality of a cardboard box (and no I'm NOT freeman contrary to what a few would say).
I'm likely going to force myself to continue this game as I payed some money for this one but it's at the very bottom of my playlist.

I also do not like portal. It took me about 2 minutes for me to realize I hated it.
