Halo! I don't care what you say Halo fans, Master Chief is not a deep and interesting character. He's a walking lump of metal with a gun attached. He has NO personality and frankly anyone who thinks he does is fucking deluding themselves!
That's very true, but I enjoy Halo because it's a fun shooter.

Fanboys/girls are a constant. Like the tides or the seasons. Doesn't matter what the game is, they're all annoying as FUCK.

I simply dislike when COD fanboys/girls ***** and moan at every other modern war FPS.

Simply because do the developers say "if you dont like it dont play it"?

Nope instead they turn it into cod with its perks and aiming down the hip and then its the same damn thing.

Really? NO ONE said Killzone fans? REALLY? Do any of you remember this? http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/692992/Sesslers-Soapbox-Killzone-Mailbag.html High quality fans there. Or this? (immortalized in song form) http://cdn.shacknews.com/public/podcast/idlethumbs/songs/chrisremo_alettertoedge.mp3
Oh, wow! DX Now I have one game to be ashamed of liking, more or less. I got into Killzone a couple of weeks ago and I'm really addicted to it in a non-fanboy way. Little did I know I was walking back into CoD territory. *Sigh* Well, at least now I know better. I will definitely be careful when I get Killzone 3 and I play on multiplayer online.

I know right? How can he have a personality when he has more bullets in him than skin cells.

One thing before I reply, what is wrong with being a fan boy/girl, doesn't it just mean you like a certain thing a lot? I think obsessive, annoying, ignorant and chauvinistic fans are the very worst.

I think the worst are probably some of the Call of Duty obsessive fans, people who will abuse the power of denial until they think that their precious is not just a lame FPS where the only skill is clicking a button.

Obsessive and annoying WoW fans are also bad, I understand you can like a mmorpg, I can understand that you play it to escape from bad problems in real life, I can understand if you wish to escape to a universe that is not the one we live in. What I can not understand is that when people have 7 level 80's and have completely ruined their education, their social life and their whole life in general to play some game.

While I enjoy Halo I can admit that the Fanboys for it are really really bad. There not as bad as say when Halo 3 came out. That was one of the few times a group creeped me out.
Call of Duty Fans are more annoying for me, because they stand up for something thats not as good as they praise it for.

I can't decide between the blind nostalgia driven fans of Final Fantasy, the drunk and stupid followers of Call of Duty, or the overly obsessive and competitive cult of Halo

If I did have to pick one though, I would have to say the Halo fans. It's funny to watch the FF fans in their extreme denial of the recent years and the idiots on CoD are easily disposed of. However, I can't enjoy Halo: Reach multiplayer anymore because of the stupid fan base who all of which make sure that they don't go to bed until they've played at least 15 hours of the multiplayer to make sure they don't forget where every fucking pixel is located on the geometric grid of every fucking map.

It wouldn't be so bad if they would all just go to the MLG playlist, but we all know that's not going to happen. They are too insecure to move to what I'm guessing they now consider holy ground for fears that they are not worthy.

Btw, partly because I want to see who the previously mentioned obsessive halo fans are and partly because it's true:

Arbiter > Masterchief

I should say Bioware fanboys, but thats not entirely true, since my experiences were much better lurking in the Dragon Age boards.

However, the Mass Effect fanboy, particularly the type who defends the game from all criticism no matter how absolutely spot on (which ME2 has a damn lot of, being a dumbed down shooter touted as RPG perfection).

Another point as someone has already pointed out is the romance cults. I liked Liara the most, but after lurking on the forums and seeing what some of the "creatures" there write in their caves, particularly the femshep/Liara fans, along with the Tali and Garrus fancults, I vowed never to lurk there again for any info on the game.

So yeah, my vote goes for ME2 fanboys.

Spot on as always when it comes to these discussions.

I should also point out about the whole Ashley Williams thing that it isn't just her but as you touched on lightly, all the romance options in the game.

I swear to god any thread based upon "Who should die?" all the responses are aimed at pissing off the fans of characters who are popular/different from the person responding.

I am also curious to know your name on the Bioware forums. Legion (obviously) is taken so I used my old user name on there.
My name on the Bioware social network is V-rex. My avatar is Wrex, you may have seen me around from time to time.
I had actually been wondering if the guy called 'Machines are Us' was you.

And it's true that it's not just Ashley, it's all characters who can be romanced. I swear it's got to be the wierdest thing to be divided on but people still have big wars about it, apparently it means a big deal to some people.
But still it'll always feel like we are so deep in escapism that people are now arguing in the defence of characters who don't exist and never will.
And this is coming from someone who admits he's done this numerous times in the past.

To me though, the absolute worst debates are the 'who was in the right, Geth or Quarians?' debates, people just rip each other apart over these ones even though really the answer should be obvious:
"Neither of them were."

Still I suppose you can't fault people for having discussions about aspects of the game I suppose, I just wish we could be more civil about it sometimes. But still, like I have often maintained, that's not one fanbase in particular, all fanbases have this problem.

The Sonic fanbase in its entirety is just flat out broken. Not to mention: OMG GREEN EYEZ IZ TEH WORST! It is fans like those that make me wish the franchise would just die already.

I think all fanboys are annoying. It displays a certain narrow-mindedness that gives gamers a bad rep.

Because she's written pitch-perfectly.
See now that's one thing I really hate when people use the word "perfect" or "perfectly" and pass it as a fact.

"She's written perfectly in my opinion."
Of course it's my opinion, I fucking said it.

You know, I miss the days when people had the reading ability to infer things for themselves without others having to spell it out for them.

He asked what people liked about her, I told him.

I'm going to change my vote to those super fanboys of Fallout 1&2 who hate every Fallout game that isn't 1&2.
Well, nostalgia is a powerful thing. I can see it being quite destructive to the new X-Com game.

You were lurking on a forum dedicated to the fans of the aforementioned series. Is it any surprise that the vast majority of people have invested themselves in their chosen interest?

Just because you said it, does not mean it is necessarily your opinion. Intellectual discourse does not work that way.

For instance I say to you: Triangles have three sides.

That's not my opinion, that's what a triangle is defined as. You speak subjectively, but with objective terms. This is not an issue with anyone else's reading ability or lack thereof.
