I always heard it was B and up instead of down when catching Pokemon. I've been doing it every game and it's actually worked some of the time.

Being able to play as Master Hand in any of the Smash Bros games. GameTrailers have launched a new show which looks at gaming myths, and have just taken a look at this myth, apparently by use of a strange code you can play as Master Hand in SSBM.

actually if you use an action replay there was a menu you could get to to let you do that, or even play as giga bowser. Looooots of stuff you could do with that menu. It was lots of fun ^^

I heard aaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago that you could play as Cortana in HALO:CE...yeh im gunna kill that guy one day, spent a whole day trying to kill EVERY single enemy on legendary ¬¬

The cow level is not a myth. It's real, I've been there.

I think he's talking about the cow level in the original Diablo, not Diablo 2

Plain and simple, what gaming myths did you hear about growing up and where?

For example, the classic myth that holding B+Down would increase the chance of catching a Pokemon on Red or Blue, and that Mew is under a car at the beginning of the game.

I heard of the B+Down myth but never heard of the mew good thing to or I would have never got to the first city

the first mew thing I heard was you have to get all the evolved evee forms and starters and level them up to 100 without rarecandies, then you go to the area where SSANNE left and surf around and you will warp to an island where there is a truck and a tree, use cut then streangth and move the truck and there is aa pokeball with mew underneath it.

or the fabled "BILL zone" where once you get all 150 pokemon you go back to BILLS place and he opens a room where you can catch any pokkemon(including Mew)

or the one where you buy the Magicarp from the guy before you go into MT Moon and name it MEW(female symbol), then pawn it at the daycare untill it reaches lvl100 and then go back and the guy is supposed to say "your MEW(female symbol) ran away, so here is my MEW(female symbol) to replace it" and its Mew.

ive got so many Mew Myths that ive tried when I was a kid that its not even funny.

There was this rumor that a killer would hunt CJ anytime he was in the country area, and that he would sneak kill CJ with a sniper rife.

....But there was another rumor that actually proved true: If you by yourself during the early moring hours in rural areas or in Los santo...Beat up cars would appear out of nowhere with no drivers around.

well this one here isn't really a legend, but everyone i tell it to tells me i'm making it up:

paintbrushes weigh nothing in Oblivion. they float where you drop them. if you have enough, you can make a stairway that stays there permanently.

i used that to climb over the arcane university wall. (me not caring for the mages guild, but still wanting to enchant)

I don't think i have heard any rumors for any game except for the GTA series especially for SA
like all the stuff people have said, big foot,UFO's, stalkers, ghosts, secret zoos and so many more like sharks that eat you, secret underwater caves with treasure, aliens in the that top secret military base and so on.

The thing with that game is that ALL of these rumors are plausible, unlike the other examples people are giving where it sounds as if its not true GTA SA was such a great open game filled with so many small details that it was like anything was possible especially when you come across all sorts of weird shit in that game that sounds like it should be a rumor like the dead (presumably murdered) bodies in plastic bags in a hole dug out in the middle of nowhere.

GTA: San Andreas was full with Myths and Legends when it came out ... there was a lot of speculation over the years, but Rockstar eventually denied almost every Myth
(searching for them was fun though )

I remember back in the day hearing a tonne of myths about Pokemon. Catching Mew/Celebi. Mashing A when trying to capture a pokemon etc. Other than that I can't really remember any.

That's the first I've ever heard that one. I heard more than a dozen rumours about Sonic being in SSB:Melee though. Actually if I'm not mistaken those rumours/myths were largely responsible for Sonic's appearance in Brawl.

This is for an old game.

If you ever played spyro 3,year of the dragon
you would know after you beat the game you get to beat moneybags up and he gives you all your gems back and you can do this multiple times.The myth is if you do this too many times he will refuse to run away and give you gems.After that he will let you chase him and he jumps off the platform and all his coins(infinite) come out from under the platform and keep coming.
