While it's true it doesn't negate the fact that the originals were made and released, as you yourself already said, original unaltered versions are becoming increasingly hard to find. The only ones available now being 4:3 rips of the Laserdisc versions. We'll basically never see the original versions which many of us grew up with remasterd in HD now without the stupid revisions.HooterNanny said:Although once the new ones are out the un-altered versions are harder to find.
I totally agree with you though. People go crazy when even anything is changed or remade, as if that cancels out the making and release of the original.
I can't even begin to... bah! What in the world was wrong with them? Because they don't look like human eyes? They aren't human!bombadilillo said:Wicket has eyes.

My VHS is in widescreen (and I've got the 4:3 VHS version, I feel shame for facilitating Gross Lunatic's problems) but as I've only got a 4:3 telly I'm goodKrantos said:There's [a href="http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Two-Disc-Widescreen-Theatrical/dp/B000FQJAIW"]This[/a]. Includes the original theatrical release. If you want to see it as it appeared in theaters in 1977, you can. Just bear in mind that it is only available in 4:3 aspect, meaning it will look odd on a widescreen tv.glyn said:For those who say "just watch the originals" they're only on VHS. It's getting hard to buy VHS players, soon there'll be none and the unfucked versions will cease to be
You don't think a man wielding his power and influence over the idiotic, the young and the obsessive compulsive of the world and taking their money off them is a bad thing?teisjm said:Bottm line is DOES IT FUCKING MATTER? anyone who cares enough to rage about it has their own copy of the original movie, and Lucas isn't gonna take that away from you.
It's so funny, this link always gets posted at least ten times in any Star Wars thread.glyn said:www.redlettermedia.com
How is he taking their money off of them? He's offering them a product, which they have all the right in the world to just say "no thx, do not want" to.glyn said:You don't think a man wielding his power and influence over the idiotic, the young and the obsessive compulsive of the world and taking their money off them is a bad thing?teisjm said:Bottm line is DOES IT FUCKING MATTER? anyone who cares enough to rage about it has their own copy of the original movie, and Lucas isn't gonna take that away from you.
www.redlettermedia.com sums up pretty well the problems with the prequels and the problems that Gross Lunatic's employees have "just glad to be working"
A lot of people are raging more over the changes Lucas is doing to the original trilogy. It ends up spilling over into prequel discussion because if it weren't for the prequels, he probably would have left the original trilogy alone.teisjm said:And don't compare this to the prequels, While they didn't take anythign away from people who liked the original trilogy, i can udnerstand people rageing against it to some extend, because they were hoping for awesomeness and felt disapointed. People claiming that the prequels reuined the original, I don't understand though, as nothing in the originals changed, and they can simply just dismiss the prequels if they don't like them.
Still, how is releasing altered versions of the original hurting the original-original trilogy?maddog015 said:A lot of people are raging more over the changes Lucas is doing to the original trilogy. Not "hurting" But I have a big ole TV and bluray player and I cannot get a good quality copy of the movies without it being updated. Which is what I want. So yeah. There it is.teisjm said:Still, how is releasing altered versions of the original hurting the original-original trilogy?maddog015 said:A lot of people are raging more over the changes Lucas is doing to the original trilogy. If you like a song a lot, and finds out someone has made a cover-version, or techno remix of it, would it be enough to rage? it's not like it's removing the original form existence, or makeing it illegal or anything. You can still enjoy the song you liked, in the version you liked like you always have.
Because the only version of original trilogy that exists (legally) is laser-disc transferred onto DVD's. That's good enough for me honestly, but I can see how some people get pissed when the "new and improved" altered original trilogy gets its film and sound cleaned up then put onto blu ray and the original movies don't.teisjm said:Still, how is releasing altered versions of the original hurting the original-original trilogy?
