Hmm..I did do a thread like this a while ago but since your new I won't *ahem* "Be That Guy"...Yes there is the allure of female gamers but as many have said, it all depends on the person whether they are "hot", they could be (like I'm sure you and most gamers are) a sweet person who games cos its fun. Or they could be a stuck up little princess on a DS-lite cos Daddy could afford it. It all depends you see.
Sorry didn't mean to re-make it. And i'm definitely not that kind of gamer. Games are fun. They should be played by all that are willing to enjoy them no matter their gender.

Does actually doing something, especially while taking some initiative to venture into areas where tradition and surviving 19th century dinosaurs say you're not supposed to go, make you "hotter"?

Yes it does.

This is the third millennium and people are quite frankly fed up with women doing the Porcelain Doll routine. We've been there, done it and it's f'ing boring for everyone involved to have girls and women sit on a pedestal waiting for boys and men do to something with them, be it prancing before them, rescuing, wooing or dragging them by the hair into marriage bondage. So when women show up in new roles they havn't been in before, it does make for quite the buzz. Just the fact that YouTube videos of girls picking up a firearm and squeezing off a few rounds make for thousands of views is a giveaway.

Enjoy the attension while you can though because soon it'll be commonplace and the novelty value of it goes away. Instead of getting positive attention for being pro-active, you'll simply just dodge the negative attention that others are getting for being lazy tarts not getting off their slightly-wider-than-average-human-hips and doing something.

Hi, I'm a gamer, and I'm a girl. :)

A hang out with guys who play video games a lot. They keep telling me that being a girl who plays and GETS video games like they do makes me "hotter". I personally have no idea how playing video games makes me more attractive.

So I'm asking, do you believe this to be true? Why or why not? And if you're a girl gamer, has this ever been said to you? What are your feelings on it?
Yes. It completely makes you hotter in every way. Just that you do something that most girls don't do... that you do something we love and can relate to...

...is just plain hot.

More laid back, easier to understand personality, already have a big thing in common... Ya, that is attractive or hot as they are putting it. I tend to like gamer girls because they are less obnoxious.

Technically they should be saying that being a gamer girl makes you more appealing but just saying you're hot is easier and simpler because gamers tend to have other things to do besides explain their turn ons, like MOAR Gameplay. XD

How can it make you hotter? xD Do you go thinner whenever you pick up the controller or something?
Seriously though, I love my girlfriends to at least enjoy videogames. Being one of my only passions I'd like it not to get in the way. Which isn't to say I'd sacrifice my girl for an hour on the xbox, because I know where my priorities are.

This theory has the opposite effect with me. I think its cause guys are worried about their manhood. My brother hasn't touched the guitar hero guitar since I perfected a song on expert in front of his girlfriend.
As stupid as that sounds, it's sad that it makes perfect sense. Nobody wants to look bad in front of their girlfriend, and performing at an inferior level to you would make him look bad in comparison, so not playing at all is the logical choice.

Or rather, to practice in secret until he is ready to make a challenge and overthrow you, taking your place as Master.

I gotta agree with the idea that girl gamers are more 'free' and less uptight, and more willing to enjoy themselves (not like that, you dirty boy!).

Saw a piece on the local news about how a school is setting up a place in the gym for girls to do their hair etc after sports, as they were told girls don't want to do sports as it makes them all sweaty and messes their hair up....fuck me.

If you're not willing to MOVE in case one of your perfect tresses falls out of place, don't bother calling, I don't care if you look like a goddess, I want a woman who's capable of having fun, and will dare to smile even if it messes up her make up.

On a side note, that geek girl demotivator, I wish the world in general would quit thinking that taking an attractive woman and putting glasses on her makes her a believable geek.

To me, personality really can make a difference to how I actually SEE people. I've known girls and thought 'woo she's cuuute', then got to know them and seen their nasty bitter side, and they'll actually look far less attractive, physically, and the same happens in reverse, a nicer girl well actually end up looking prettier over time. Of course this may be just a mental dysfunction limited to just me, but it's there.

Putting aside the physical tho, it's always an advantage to know a girl who's willing to game with you, and not consider you some abhorrent social outcast because you know what a PC does or how a joypad works.

There's something inherently sexy about a woman holding a controller. It's the same way it's hot to see a girl with a gun, a sword, a wrench, etc. Anything phallic.

It's like she's saying, "This is a man's tool... and I know how to use it."

To me there are two types of female game player:

Girl Gamer: A girl which happens to be a gamer. We all know these people. That high pitched voice in your ear announcing to all in the room that she is a girl and "OMG I'm playing games". These sniveling little twats never seem to shut up and boast abouth their looks an the fact they have breasts and you don't. The dime a dozen wastes of genes only seem to poison a team's performance with their lack of skill yet do not seem to piss anyone off because she is a high pitched little ninny.

and then there is the...

Gamer Girl: A gamer which happens to me a girl. The often dominant players in a room or party that show off impressive skills and often keep to themselves. They never announce that they are female because that means breaking their aura of concentration while they pop a few caps in your astounded little ass. These girls are quite fun to play with and seem quite knowledgeable about gaming. They do not boast of their feminine features since this would mean that she wouldn't be able to communicate tactics or information. These are the types of people you want most on your team, not because they are a girl, but because they had a higher score than all of your team combined last round. Who knows, get her in the mood and you might have quite the stimulating converstion about Final Fantasy or Metal Gear Solid.

I happen to fit in the latter category. You want me on your team in GTA IV

I know it's true. Sex is roughly 60% brain 40% the rest of the body. By having an enjoyable activity to share you build stronger relationships and the effect carries over to men's perceptions of you as a partner. Whether as a one-nighter who enjoys playing with a joystick to a committed long-term relationship based on compassion and fun your "hot" factor has been positively affected for almost all who would be attracted to you. Have fun with that! :)

it depends on what you mean by "hot". Does it make them cuter?
Physically, not really. (cosplay can factor, not really into that myself)
Does it make them more appealing?
In my opinion, yes. If a girl can enjoy what I enjoy, in my opinion, it makes for a better relationship.
My girlfriend isn't technically a girl-gamer and/or gamer/girl as this forum labels, but she does enjoy the occasional game like GTA, The Sims, or Rockband. And she does like to talk about how the first game she beat was Spiderman 2. Or how I can never beat her in Street Fighter 4. I'm not really skilled in fighting games (my excuse).
All in all, it does make for a more "interesting" trait in a female. I like it when a girl has a fondness in video games and it's culture

Well personality is just as important as looks, the idea of being able to share my past times with a girl is definitely an attractive prospect. So yeah, it's an attractive part of your personality and who you are.

Now, to find myself a nice girl who enjoys snowboarding, surfing, rocking out at gigs, playing video games and watching movies as much as I do. Surely that can't be that hard, right?

No matter how physically attractive you may be, no one likes an attention whore.
