Im a little too lazy uploading my pictures of my Flames of War figures, but might do it later...

Flames of War is a WW2 minifigure game, like warhammer, if someone didnt know... Its the only figures i bothered buying and painting since i find Warhammer Fantasy a little too fantasy and Warhammer 40k a little too strange...
Real soldiers and warmachinery is more my thing...

Woo Hoo! We have posts! Thanks everyone. Excuse me for not replying individually to everyone but for once there's a lot for me to look at. I do have a couple of things to say though

@Moonpenguin: Yes, you will get very, very sick of painting green.

@ Jaythulu: I like the plague marines. How did you paint them? A basecoat of colour X and then successive heavy layers of dark washes?

@ march hare: Like the custom bowstring and 'cheeky' tattoo... & it's a brave man that takes real close ups.

@ spacefly: yup, that looks like about 2 years worth of dust build up you got there...

@ GWarface: You just need to start collecting guard, as I've said before, some of them look more at home in a historic wargame setting than they do 40K. I just can't get over the feeling that Valhallans should be fighting the Wehrmacht at Stalingrad, Praetorians holding off the zulu's at Rorkes Drift, classic stormtroopers fighting the Argies at Goose Green, Steel legion & Death Korps charging the vickers guns at Ypres, Catachans watching for charlie to make his move...I could go on but this reply is long anough as it is.

Also:
The photo doesn't do it justice. I'll say it again, I think the Eldar have always been GW's most original and striking designs, even if the human in me sticks with the Imperium.

I saw this thread when it first appeared...then it vanished...now its back again YAY!.
I dont have any photos of my models to upload (I collect Tau) but I'm kinda glad with that cos only one of my teams gets anywhere near as good as your (my stealth suit squad-gotta love the alliteration) but even they pale in comparison to your pure awesomeness. Keep up the good work!

Whoever painted that Eldar ship did a great job. I love the design of the model itself.

To the guy that collects Flames of War: My buddy is looking at expanding into that. Any pointers or tips? I think he is leaning towards Germany.

I feel so inferior to you artists...
My first stumbling attempts to paint a Tau Ethereal should come up sometime tomorrow. Maybe I'll throw in some Firewarriors and a Crisis suit as well.

Back with a few more:

I feel a little inferior after seeing some of the masterpieces in the last few pages to be honest, we have some real talent here. Good work, Escapists!

Almost, yeah.

UC of black, base coated the arms and lower legs in GW foundation Gretchin Green. Heavy drybrush of rotting flesh, then paint the metal with boltgun and any fleshy bits with a 50/50 mix of shadow grey and tallarn flesh. Then ya whip out the washes.

1st layer is a really heavy Devlan mud over the entire mini, then thraka green on the green parts, leviathan purple on the flesh and badab black on the chest plate / thighs. Final layer is a Gryphonne Sepia wash over the entire model. I splash a bit of the green/purple washes on to metal to give a little variation.

-----------

Here's a unit I made for a game of Kill Team, haven't gotten around to painting them yet

Don't worry you filthy Tau, everyone has to start somewhere. Have a look at the models at the back in my ork army pics, they weren't exactly stellar.

@March hare: I like the Termie, you've put a lot of work into the detail.

@ Jaythulhu: Interesting. Washes weren't around when I used to paint as a kid, inks worked quite differently. I suppose washes are good for getting shading effects quickly and easily on models whereas inks really couldn't be used that way, or it least it was hard to do.
I will have to try the technique, I have only just aquired the wash set and have only really used sepia on the cadians trousers, ogryn flesh on their faces and devlan mud on the Chaos warriors boots and fur.

Well, keep up the good work people, thanks all for posting. I'm a little spoilt for choice as to what to paint next and don't really know where to begin, any requests or suggestions out of:
Loads of old space fleet ships, BFG battleship, vintage titans, Vintage chaos warriors, Vintage epic knights & marines & transports, vintage orcs, vintage & classic undead, sister of sigmar, Vintage reiksguard/helblitzen, vintage dwarves, Praetorians, Sisters of battle, Kasrkins, Steel legion troopers, classic stormtroopers, vintage guard, vintage ork boys, vintage inquisitor, Eldar warlock, vintage banshees, vintage swooping hawks, genestealer/hybrids, world eater, Vintage termies/marines? ...or I could finish my Imperator Titan?

Any tips re technique, undercoat colours etc?

We think about getting some, but don't have any as of now - I can only offer advice at painting smurfmarines (aka thousand suns) and Jedi-marines, aka Grey Knights. I'd go for the Seraphim first though, spread arms and pistols are less of a pain to paint compared to weapons held close to the torso.

Good idea. Slight change of plan however. Im going to try out a vintage chaos dwarf first. I'm going to use a non GW black spraypaint for undercoat and I want to make sure it works OK before applying it to all my sororitas minis.

Heres the Dwarf finished except for a shield. Unfortunately I don't have any of the old chaos dwarf shields so I'm going to have to substitute something else suitable from the new shields range.
I think that has to be the fastest I've ever painted a model. Very easy paint job though.

Looking at him under the microscope I think he needs a black wash to dull the armour and definitely his axe blade.

PS, spray paint works fine :p

I love chaos dwarves!

Also: I want to see you paint a vintage titan. Some vintage boys might be fun, too.

I've been slowly working on my battlewagon. The assembly isn't far from being done. I may actually paint that before I get on with the nobs...any suggestions on wagon assembly from other ork players?

I only got back in to 40K last year, but yeah, the washes are incredible. They serve almost the same function as the old inks did, but they're way easier to use (and cover up mistakes). I'm experimenting with 'em currently, but the results look promising!

Everyone seems to love seeing pics of Old School stuff, so enjoy some of the minis I've had for years that I'm repainting for a new army:

Mid-90s Plaguemarines

Rogue Trader Renegades (I have more of these, but I'm not finished stripping them)

Yeah, it is a pain. Pretty sure that some of my plague-ies still have some cat hair intermixed with the undercoat. What's worse is that my cat is a loyalist, and likes to bury my chaos marines in his litter box :p
