My first ever finished model as I've just been introduced to Warhammer (and bought an entire High Elf army by my loving boyfriend). It's alright for never having painted a miniature before, I think!

yowza that's really good! I do have two little things that could be done to make it pop if you don't mind.
Maybe it's just the way the picture was taken, but it looks like your flesh is one tone. Try starting from a darker flesh color and layering on that sickly pale dark elf flesh. So it looks a little more dramatic.
also I see hints of a purple wash on his sword. Which is great, but feels a little underplayed. Like there are not shimmering parts to contrast with the purple maybe having a darker purple in the recesses. Like mithril silver highlight to the edge of the sword.
But it's lightyears better then my first model! Great job!

So not a miniature but I thought it was worth sharing *SNIP*
I take it you got the action figure and then painted it to look like ghost from MW2? Cunning plan.

Now, be prepared to be amazed at the fine detail, marvel at the hours of work that must have gone into every figure, poop your pants as the photorealism convinces you that 100+ of the Emperors finest are storming their way out of your monitor to stomp on your face...

Next I will be painting an old rogue trader era Adeptus Mechanicus. It's a truly awesome model and I hope to do it justice. Unfortunately I dropped it while cleaning it up for priming and a couple of tiny bits of detail got flattened out where it hit. Very annoying as otherwise it was in perfect condition.

I don't have many (just one actually). I actually had to sculpt it myself for a D20 Modern game I joined, since we're using normal D&D pre-painted minis for the most part (the few modern types we found were really poorly made and not cyberpunk enough).

Anyway, this is my character Val, an ex-military chopper pilot. She's got a bomber jacket and bowie knife, if anyone wants to know what the black thing on her leg is. It took about 9 hours on and off to sculpt her and about an hour to paint (sort of rushed, I know, but I'm thinking of doing a fresh coat with shading).

Oh, and she's only my second sculpture, my first being this (which I'm currently finishing painting, hence the monotone):

I painted this a couple months back. It was the first thing I'd painted in about 6 months of being a lazy bastard so my skills were a little rusty. Case in point, the face is pretty dodgy and the highlighting on the cloak is a little too bright, but whatever. I also haven't gotten around to painting anything since then either. I really should stop procrastinating...

Anyways, these were taken with my phone and I'm far too lazy right now to spend the whole 5 seconds or so it'd take to compress them, so they're a ridiculous 1.5mb or so each:

He's also only partially finished. I haven't bothered to put his backpack on yet.

Thanks for posting, I like the idea of actually sculpting your own character for an RPG, that shows dedication. I imagine it would make having your character shot into little pieces a bit more traumatic. I was going to give you a long list of companies making cyberpunky miniatures and then I saw you said pre-painted. Also, that monster thing is awesome.

PS sorry for not replying sooner, I prefer to post something when I reply otherwise I end up double posting when I do finish something but I'm working on an old RT Admech that I wan't to do a really good job on so it's taking a while.

Thanks for posting, I like the highlighting on the cloak, and holy crap that sword is huge, for the most part new GW models are very detailed and very well sculpted and molded, but it seems as though half their models are massive steroid abusers these days, even inanimate objects.

Thanks. I like the highlighting myself, but at the time I was going for something a little less bright but ended up with an almost pinkish colour. As for the sword, well, he's a Captain. That model is actually from the new 40k starter set. My brother and I picked it up a while back to increase his Space Marine collection while I started an army of Orks. Hmmm, I suppose I could post a picture of the Ork Warboss I painted if I can be bothered digging it out of the wardrobe.

Please do. In the meantime here's my old Admech in power armour, he's not finished yet but we're getting there.

Show some respect boy! That "power armoured slug" is older than you are :p

Do you not have a digital camera then? Any digicam should be fine for taking pics of miniatures, I don't even use macro settings for mine, just normal pics taken close up. If you only have a camera phone then I suppose it would be a bit difficult. Would love to see games day photos as long as it doesn't break any forum rules to post them.

Also I finished this 5 minutes ago:

Quite happy with this one, except as usual there are a few minor molding marks etc that I could have done a better job of removing. I will also do a basecoat of Adeptus battlegrey next time instead of drybrushing onto black primer, basecoating comes out closer to the colour I want that way but as I'm lazy drybrushing onto black is quicker.

Man... Reading this thread makes me want to paint models... Kind of quit the entire Warhammer business a couple of years ago...

Only thing I've got in pictures is a semi-painted Dark Eldar Archon I converted from some (at the time) new Eldar-leader dude, that I did maybe 3-4 years ago:

Thanks for posting.

I promised myself I'd never waste my money on stupid little lumps of lead again, then about a year ago I figured that I'd wasted huge amounts of money on loads of other things and didn't have a thing to show for it, so why not? I just paint though, the game and the setting aren't really to my liking in their current states, although I don't think I'd play even if they did set the rules back to 1st ed.

Would be nice to see him finished, even if he is one of those newfangled "Dark Eldar" that I don't approve of. Someone in the 40K group posted pics of the new ones they've designed just recently, you should have a look, as models I think they are very good even if I still don't accept them background wise.

Yeah, I'm getting urges to finish him as well... 'cept I can't really all my paints n shit are pretty much lost to the ages.

I saw some of the new DE models when I randomly checked warseer.com a while ago, they look really cool, kind of pissed that they're getting a new design now, would have been nice to see them released when I was still playing.

The paints keep pretty well. I have some that I bought in 1990 and they are still fine. If they are packed away in a box somewhere in your parents attic (as mine were) they should probably still be ok.

Well that's the thing, I can't remember where they are, probably at some mate's or other... Last time I remember using them was for some school project thing...

That's a pity. I dunno how much they were when you last bought them but they are £2.25 each now and getting them cheap on e-bay isn't as easy as it is with the models.

Also:

I broke the end of the ovipositor/tongue off so I had to cut it right out to make it look right.

Well will you look at that...more stuff:

Almost got it right this time. Drybrushed the basecoat to start with instead of painting it for some stupid reason and shouldn't have given it a final black wash but otherwise the main grey bit come out ok. Still not quite sure about the red and gold superstructure but I can't think of a better way to paint it so it stays I guess.

Camera couldn't be bothered to take pictures close up. Oh, well.

Left to Right:
Heavily Worn Standard Carrier Imp,
Brand New Primaris Psyker (Unnamed),
Extremely heavily worn and unpainted original Praetorian Commissar (My first W40K model!),
Old style Guardsman Sergeant,
Old Style Guardsman,
New Style Unfinished Imperial Quartermaster with minor Green Stuff work,
Extremely heavily worn and unpainted original Vostroyan troopers (My next few W40K models.),
Extremely heavily worn from use Commissar Chuckles (So far my most useful unit).

When I get some New Style troops done, I'll post them up here.
