Fallout - A series of bad decisions ruined Interplay, thus ruining Black Isle. Now all we get is Oblivion with guns. Rest in peace, Van Buren.
.

Fallout 3 isn't liked by some people, I am cool with that kind of opinion, but to just claim it as "just Oblivion with guns" is probobly the worst thing you can do. Its far different.

Besides difference its fucking brilliant, and don't tell me its just another "FPS", if the option to free fire is there, then whats fucking wrong with that? That just means more options for the combat unlike in Fallout 1 where I'd fire my gun and there'd be a chance that it'd fall, hit my foot and shoot dogmeat where the game fucked me over. In fallout 3, if I f'd up, it was my fault.

Besides that, its one of the biggest games I know and still a great game to refresh myself with every now and then.

Nice pic. Sums up most of the terrible thing about F3. What a fucking awful game that was.
And LOOOOOL at someone saying pointless stats.

Well, I cancelled my Diablo 3 pre-order, since 'dumbing down' is way too friendly a description of what they did. I loved Diablo, I did manage to like Diablo 2 for a while, but I just feel no love or sympathy for Diablo 3 after my first, thorough hands-on.

Oh, and EA just showed me that resistance is futile RE: Origin - turns out my EA login has already mutated into an Origin one. Way to go, EA!

The long-awaited third expansion/fourth edition of 'cards' for Battleforge consists of everything everybody already has by now and TWO new cards. That's right. TWO cards. Amazing, innit?

Well, I actually 'played' Van Buren. It's to be considered early Alpha or whatnot, but it clearly shows the folks were way out of their league with all that fancy new 3D stuff. They weren't going anywhere with it, Van Buren was doomed from the start.

With that background, I am really happy and grateful for Fallout3 to have happened the way it did. Plenty of stuff to nag and whine and complain about, sure, but still the trip was a pleasant and amazing one.

Dungeon Siege. Yeah, 3 was a complete turd, just like I expected the moment I saw the Square Enix logo. Being outsourced to a different developer and publisher can hardly be a good sign. And they chose Square.
Wait what? People liked the original Dungeon Siege?
There's no decline here. DS was always a complete turd.

Only mages had any remotely interesting options in DS. Fighters and archers were just click-target-and-forget.
DS was strictly lineair with zero replay value. It doesn't help that the start of the game was terrible too.
All outdoor areas were almost completely empty as in you could walk and shoot through the trees (so the lowest detail setting without any trees and similar objects was actually the most accurate rendering of the game). It was just boring encounter after boring encounter in empty spaces.
Finally for the players who care about such things, no clever dialogues either. The game had no character.
I completely agree. And Dungeon Siege 2 was a massive improvement. Only to be dragged to shit right after getting good.
Interesting. I never gave DS2 much of a glance after experiencing the mess that was DS1. Maybe I'll look into it.

going to go with the general opinion that EA is the gaming devil here and turns all they touch into crap. Got a chance to start over on Mass Effect and realized just how much more I loved it over the later installations of the game.
For the record, IMO fallout in bethesda's hands has been terribad.

Well, I don't think Diablo is ruined. The few hours I spent with the beta were a lot of fun. Of course I have yet to play the whole game, so I cannot judge that game yet.

EA hate is off the charts, captain!

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Troika ran out of time and money and in the last quarter of the game, it shows, not to mention how many bugs the game shipped with.
Crap. I'm playing it right now and enjoying it thoroughly. I'm about one third in. How bad does it get? D:
It's not terrible, but it certainly isn't up to the same standard as the rest of the game.

Everything made by Rare - The quality of Rare's games dropped significantly after they were bought out by Microsoft. Now they have shifted their focus entirely on developing games for use with the Kinect peripheral. R.I.P.
I think Rare will one day be used as a cautionary tale. Or is it already?

I loved Dragon Age: Origins. I hated Dragon Age 2. I also disliked the changes made between Mass Effect and 2.

Final note: I love the Zelda franchise but I would be interested in playing another one with random encounters and, side-scrolling.

I think dumbing down is not quite the right term for not including offline singleplayer in Diablo 3. Maybe greed, hubris, not giving a shit or caring more about your in game store than the actual game?

And anyone who thinks Fallout 3 is better than Fallout 1 & 2 or New Vegas seriously needs a brain transplant. Pac Man has a more gripping and fleshed out main plot than Fallout 3
