I can't fault the recent Total War games, knowing me you would think they would be my thing. They are large, very stategised and about world conquest.

In many ways brilliant games, i just can't play them.

MW 2. My fiance is obsessed with the multiplayer right now. I understand how it could be deemed amazing, the whole leveling up thing appeals to my RPG fangirl tendencies. I just feel compelled to hate it. Some of it is the little things like the shit blowing in the air in all the maps (how many burnt pamphlets and leaves are there for crying out loud!) but mostly I think its the unrealistic plot.

I don't like World of Warcraft. I played the crap out of it. But I don't like it. It's too good. It feels more like a social drug than a game.

Um I really never liked the original Duke Nukem. Call me crazy but I just couldn't get into it.

Rock Band really never pushed my buttons. I guess its alright... and I know and understand why people love it... but pretending to play music and actually playing music are two different things. I'd rather just pick up a real guitar and learn the songs.

Oblivion.... however amazing graphics and endless playtime there is... seemed boring. Probably because I wanted more interaction and direction. But the point of Oblivion was that it had no direction and could be taken any direction. I like the idea...just not the execution.

I also am a big FF fan.... but didn't and couldn't like FF8. I dunno why... the card system was weird, although original. The graphics and storyline were good. I don't think I liked the main character.....

Final Fantasy series, Legend of Zelda Series (except for Twilight & 4Swords), and Halo series.

I'm sure I would have liked Zelda had my first experience not been total shit. I might have even liked the Halo series had I gotten the PC version (still could, but don't feel like buying it yet.

EDIT: And I haven't gotten into Call of Duty. Mostly because I don't have the money to buy those games when I'd rather buy other games. I might get into it at some other point in time.

I don't really like GTA4. It's an amazing world with so much care put into it. It's probably the most well-made game I've ever played, but I just can't get into it. It's just not fun.

Okay. I'm bracing myself. I'm probably going to regret saying this, but: Psychonauts. Hear me out: After searching and searching and searching, I finally found a copy which cost thirty-five dollars. May I just say that this is double what I payed for Beyond Good and Evil, which is an unbelievably fantastic game, and triple that of the original Jak and Daxter.

On to the game itself, the art style, voice acting, blah blah blah was good. I didn't fully understand the story; not being the type who scrounges for every available collectible, I didn't know the backstory of most of the characters, so the story didn't make sense to me. Mind, I haven't yet seen the final cutscene. I did technically "beat the game" in that I beat the final boss, but my game froze and now whenever I lose a life I don't respawn, though this may because I got a used copy.

Yes, the game was funny, but most of the humour was based on the obscurity and absurdity of the concept, and considering that Ben Croshaw kindly lists out most of the funny stuff and ruins the shock, I wasn't that entertained.

The gameplay wasn't terrible. The platforming was pretty good, but you could do most of it by summoning your thought bubble and slowing your fall so you can hit any platform with ultra-precision. Combat was just kind of weird. It was the Force Unleashed problem, in which I couldn't really feel that I was hitting the enemy. And I have since decided that I hate "Adventure Elements," which consist of talking to everyone until somebody says something plot-relevant, doing whatever they say, and then talking to everyone once again to see if anything changed.

Sorry about the long hate-speech. I just don't understand why this seems to keep topping lists of "Under-appreciated Masterpieces," or "Games that are Art."

Ok. I love the metroid series. I beat the old NES title, and the rest of the series all the way through to corruption. However, I never really liked Super Metroid. That one... such a pain in the ass.

This is the perfect thread for me and Bioshock. It's a great game, beautiful and well done. But I cannot for the life of me sit down and play it for more than 15 minutes or so.

I also feel the same way with Fallout 3.

I played Halo. I saw the potential. I didn't particularly like it, probably due to the fact I played it in very short timeframes over a very long span of time (read: ~2-3 hours every month or so for about a year). I mean, yes, the backgrounds were aesthetically pleasing, but I just could not get into it. I was also reminded of how much I sucked at first person shooters.

I played Halo. I didn't see any potential in it whatsoever. Well... other than the regenerating shields things... but seeing as the industry has used that to make their games piss-easy, I think we could do without that particular innovation.

Can I just say a company?

Valve.

Why?

Overrated. I despise the source engine. Feels clunky. Don't ask for more, I won't respond.
Didn't I come across you earlier? Yeah, you spouted some baseless crap there without responding too there as well. Must be you.

Seriously, guaranteeing that you won't respond on a Discussion Forum, when you've just expressed an opinion that is easily contested is a bit like running away from a store with all your goods but saying that you're not going to pay.

Although, in all fairness, you're entitled to think what you will of Valve, but I still want to know why they're overrated and how none of the games they've made are any good just because you don't like them. (I know he didn't say that last part, it's just what he said earlier and I'm intrigued by that)

World of Warcraft.

I was already bored of it when I was bored of EverQuest and dozens of other clones. WoW was a well wrought clone, streamlined as close to perfection as it could be, but still just the same damn thing.
