To ianrocks:

Dune was legendary! That's basically what kicked off Westwood's RTS dominance. Without Dune there would be no C&C, and no Red Alert

To Lizmichi:

I remember Quest 64 but I effing hated it. What was the deal with the weird ass "dome combat" setup. The game busted my balls for about four hours than I threw it out a window.

...

Does anyone remember Bushido Blade for the PS1 or Draken for the SNES? For the longest time my friend and I couldn't figure out Draken. Than one day I decided it was time to defeat it. It took me a couple of days but I got the thing under control.

Actually I just looked online and there's nary a reference to the snes version.

So was all the cartoons, games and animes I loved when I was a kid. But Rule 34 can be a cruel *****.
Oh God, the mental images...

Oh yeah, I remember that. And, as any others, it's from the demo disc I remember it. Was a blast, though.

Freedom Fighters :D
That was Danish, wasn't it? Or was it the one with the Super Heroes? I remember there were two games out, one about being a resistance member in an invaded USA, the other a comicbook style Diablo/RTS-esque Super Hero game. Anyway, I remember thoose too. Were awesome. Never did complete the resistance thingie, though... A shame.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3, 4 and 5.
HoMM are hardly forgotten ;)
I actually just re-installed the first Dawn of War game, and the three expansions. Really great games. The only RTS I've played on long terms.

Gargoyle's Quest 2 and for that matter Demon's Crest. It just gets bad press since it generated negative sales one week, but Firebrand is awesome. Also Snake Rattle and Roll, The 7th Guest, and Curse of the Catacombs, and the sequel Terror of the Catacombs.

I would have to say I-Ninja.
No one seems to know of this games existince, but it's pretty fun.
Just a ninja defeating every enemy he sees.

Either that, or the original Spyro the Dragon games.
Just the first 3 on the PS1.
After Year of the Dragon, it all went downhill.
I have to agree with you about Spyro after 3 it went downhill.

I would have to say Banjo and Kazooie on the N64 and the first three Mario Party games (Nothing after 3)

Sheep Dog n' Wolf (aka Looney Tunes Sheep Raider).

The Incredible Machine (a puzzle game).

Midtown Madness 2 back from the 90's.

I'm sure no-one remembers them now.

Freespace 2. I've never met another person who has played this game.
Freespace 1 and 2 were epic.

I remember the first time I took down the Lucifer and the ending cutscene watching the explosions and half of it get blown to bits as it peeked out the worm hole. Then learning that it was the capital ship of a scouting mission!!!!11one11one! Completely blew my mind.

Uprising. Such an awesome game, played it for hours. A FPS/tank sim that had RTS aspects.

Starsiege: Tribes (1, not the shite that came later being 2 and 3). My first dappling with a modable game. I was blown away with being able to create maps, skins, UI's and modify the actual gameplay. Played that game for 9 stinkin' years with my father. Shifter mod. Good times, good times.

F-22 Lightning 2. I used to play that with a good school buddy of mine over direct connect dial-up. Our parents hated us for constantly tying up the phone lines and all the ringing telephones. We'd take off from opposite airfields and just lock on our AMRAAMs and unload them all, killing each other then promptly taking off and doing it again, until we'd both just agree to have gun/sidewinder fights.

Descent II. I loved watching my father get vertigo from that game. Up? There was a way up in that game? No way! Earthshaker missiles FTW! Damn getting the little glowy spot on that final boss was a pain in the ass.

There's more but meh.

Command and Conquer / Red Alert. The first ones were classics and some of the best RTS (read nostalgia) gaming I've ever played.

'Jet Force Gemini' and 'Buck Bumble,' both for the N64. Those games rocked, but no one remembers them anymore.
Yes Jet Force Gemini FTW! I spent about three years of my life trying to remember the title to it, it bugged me for that long, then Eureka!

Oh yeah Carnage Hearts, Bushido Blade, Cholo, Project IGI, Combat Lynx, Saboteur.
Project IGI rocks, I still play that game every once in a while!

Rayman 2 on N64. It's not necessarily obscure, but none of my friends know what the hell I'm talking about so, there you go.

I love XEXYZ for the NES. I Don't even remember the story, something about a princess, but I loved the gameplay. Especially the codes you got at the end that let me do a boss run with the laser upgrade.

I liked what I had played of Tomba, but I only ever had the demo for the playstation. It came with the console.

WWF In Your House and Crash Bandicoot: WARPED for the Playstation.
dude i loved crash 3
Ah, back when Crash was made by Naughty Dog... the good ol' days. I mean, sure, the Crash Bandicoot games that are out now are OK, but Crash was in his prime on the Playstation.

At least he aged better than Spyro did.
