It wasn't so bad until I stumbled upon "the box" thread about killing a stranger for a million bucks. And the majority said they would do it happily? Sorry, but WHAT THE FUCK. I don't know, but it's just kind of depressing, you know?

So other internet people, how do you feel about this, or maybe somebody can explain to me why they hate humanity so, so much.
Not so much a hate for humanity... more £1 million is more useful for me than a strangers life, I could buy myself a dream house in Ilkley and live like a king for 2 hours before my money is spent on stupid things.

Yes I am the Fascist.
However Humanity does not always live up to it's potential, Humanity can be stupid, humanity can be bigoted, humanity can be apathetic.
Emphasis on the word "can".

Humanity needs order and control to live up to it's potential.
Humanity needs to be able to eliminate the bad elements instead of leaving them get away due to "it's not technically against the law" and all that.

Humanity needs to be united and needs order and commen sense in control to fully thrive!
Hate to jump in on this but.....Common sense is not very common, and very subjective. What I consider common knowledge may be very different from yours.

That, and control never breeds potential. You don't learn new things by learning what everyone else does, you learn by doing things that are uncontrollable. Risks and all that.

As for the law.....well, it just shows humanity has fallen kind of far when I have to put a warning label on a toaster saying "Its HOT" because otherwise I will get sued. I would think the toast coming out would make a good example....

Anyway, carry on with whatever you were doing.

Then any other animal in the world. And what do you think someone with a misanthropic view should do? (Again, do i need to chip them of or what?)
Blah blah blah overpopulation blah blah blah heard it and even studied it all before. In fact, one of my friend's mothers voluntarily sterilized herself to make a statement, she's had this rant at me before, and we've studied the effects in Economics, Politics, and Geography.

Humans aren't fundamentally good.
In my experience they are, and I like to think I've met a wide spectrum of the human race. Right from the top to the very bottom. In fact, it seems to be those at the very top who are more inclined to stomp on people, and the very top is a minority, which only reinforces my point that most people are fundamentally good, as does your rant below:

Evil is a subjective term that is used to actions that damage the "herd". Osama Bin Laden might be evil in your eyes but how do you think that extremist muslim that lives across the street thinks about it. We are made into what we are. By experiences and actions we do or get. Yup, Saddam had a bad youth and look how he turned out. No, you can maybe say we are born neutral. From there on it is up to our envirement.
This doesn't make much sense. It just reads like a stream of conciousness. Yes, evil is subjective. Everyone knows that. Yes, we are victims of circumstance. I just said that in my post. I do not think we are born neutral. I do think that we are imbued with naturally 'good' tendencies due to our genetic coding as pack mammal with a long period of vulnerability at early life. We naturally feel bad when we hurt other people, it's actually hard wired into our brains. We feel what we see other people feel. If others are happy, we are happy. If others are sad, we are sad. The slow erosion of this empathy is, as I said, I believe the only blight on the human race, and that the restoration of empathy will pretty much solve all our problems.

The problem with your kind of people is that you don't look to the future. Do you think it is going to be good when humanity comes so much first in your book. That the planet is literally going to die out? Then there will be no more technological wonders or marvels. You should start to lay on your bed and think about that.
First off, what kind of person am I? An optimist? Why does that necessarily mean I don't think about the future? I am a Humanist, and some of the most common Humanist aims are directed at the planet because we need the planet to survive, we can appreciate it's beauty and be inspired by the world around us. You think I've not thought about this?

And you know what? I think that you are being the irresponsible one here. What do you think would happen if humanity suddenly died? There would be no life after us? It's inevitable that there would be another life form similar, and they will have to go through all the same processes as we have, damaging the Earth all over again. They will be deprived of our collective wisdom about how the world works and the best way to manage it. My way is the hard way out. Yours, I think, just absolves responsibility.

And besides, eventually the Earth will be destroyed. Why not give our species the chance to survive. Eventually we'll either be dead, or an inter-stellar civilisation. If we all die now, the next dominant species (As there can only be one at a time) to come along will have fewer simple resources, and less time in which to develop before they all get cooked. Therefore the chances of life surviving at all after the destruction of Earth are incredibly slim. That includes plants and bacteria and all other kinds of life.

I work hard and i even have done volunairy jobs before that. An unproductive worldview causes no damage. A overproductive one causes a lot of damage. Certainly when it comes to sex. Take one kid instead of three. That is what i am going to do. At least 2 of us will die and 1 will return that means minus one.
Over-productive was not, and is not usually, meant in the context of reproduction. That's just a massive straw man. Nor is it meant in terms of workplace productivity. It is meant in terms of overall contribution to the Earth and Humanity's development as a whole. The misanthropic worldview by default compels its subscribers to do nothing about anything because, well, what's the point, there's no hope, right? Others at least compel their followers to help out their fellow man, or, even more so recently, work for a better individual, a better world and a better humanity.

I don't much hate people- most of them are decent- but humanity, that's another story. It seems that most of the decision-making is done by loudmouthed idiots completely out of touch with either the people they nominally represent or just reality. And the majority of people sit back and take it.

Because it's all edgy and cool to be cynical.

I remeber being a misanthrope when I was 13, most people grow out of it.
Basically this. Not caring has become the cool thing to do and even cooler is to just hate everything and everyone. Also, most people on this website are teens, and puberty makes one a very angsty person, and angst breed hatred, even when it's not deserved.

Hey look we killed the planet
Oh fuck
Wow .. shit
Did we do something wrong ?

Oh yeah and some people crush animals, literally, and whats worse some people jerk off to it and get pleasure out of it.
As a race, humans aren't that great.

I love mankind, charitable, imaginative, conservative, there are many groups and individuals that embody these qualities of the human spirit but all the misanthropes seem to jam fingers into their ears and focus on the bad things. Bitching about something doesn't make it better.

Besides, why not root for the home team?

Edit: Also, as someone already pointed out, Stephen Fry is human.

If the laws of nature would persist I would bear that man's children and then give birth in the knowledge that a few extra babies aren't going to turn this world into a Soilent green planet.

Don't worry about the hatred of humanity thing. We were all cynical, self-righteous high schoolers once.

I don't know if this is already mentioned. But in the cliche: love and hate are very close to each other, is a very big truth if you ask me. If you have good intentions towards other people and see how they are treated or treat others sometimes, it might turn to a perception of hate, because you hate the people that f*ck over other people.
Now in the end it might blur your perspective of things because you only want to see the bad things to confirm your point of view, but that doesn't make one a bad person.
A person who only sees love and hope in humanity is of an equal value as one who does not, both perspectives are needed to see all the things that are going on.
I don't know who said this one and if I quote it correctly but it goes a bit like this: if you either love or hate, you still are being involved and or have an emotional attatchement towards people, indifference is the thing you should worry about.
