Then any other animal in the world. And what do you think someone with a misanthropic view should do? (Again, do i need to chip them of or what?)
Blah blah blah overpopulation blah blah blah heard it and even studied it all before. In fact, one of my friend's mothers voluntarily sterilized herself to make a statement, she's had this rant at me before, and we've studied the effects in Economics, Politics, and Geography.
Humans aren't fundamentally good.
In my experience they are, and I like to think I've met a wide spectrum of the human race. Right from the top to the very bottom. In fact, it seems to be those at the very top who are more inclined to stomp on people, and the very top is a minority, which only reinforces my point that most people are fundamentally good, as does your rant below:
Evil is a subjective term that is used to actions that damage the "herd". Osama Bin Laden might be evil in your eyes but how do you think that extremist muslim that lives across the street thinks about it. We are made into what we are. By experiences and actions we do or get. Yup, Saddam had a bad youth and look how he turned out. No, you can maybe say we are born neutral. From there on it is up to our envirement.
This doesn't make much sense. It just reads like a stream of conciousness. Yes, evil is subjective. Everyone knows that. Yes, we are victims of circumstance. I just said that in my post. I do not think we are born neutral. I do think that we are imbued with naturally 'good' tendencies due to our genetic coding as pack mammal with a long period of vulnerability at early life. We naturally feel bad when we hurt other people, it's actually
hard wired into our brains. We feel what we see other people feel. If others are happy, we are happy. If others are sad, we are sad. The slow erosion of this empathy is, as I said, I believe the only blight on the human race, and that the restoration of empathy will pretty much solve all our problems.
The problem with your kind of people is that you don't look to the future. Do you think it is going to be good when humanity comes so much first in your book. That the planet is literally going to die out? Then there will be no more technological wonders or marvels. You should start to lay on your bed and think about that.
First off, what kind of person am I? An optimist? Why does that necessarily mean I don't think about the future? I am a Humanist, and some of the most common Humanist aims are directed at the planet because
we need the planet to survive, we can
appreciate it's beauty and
be inspired by the world around us. You think I've not thought about this?
And you know what? I think that
you are being the irresponsible one here. What do you think would happen if humanity suddenly died? There would be no life after us? It's inevitable that there would be another life form similar, and they will have to go through all the same processes as we have, damaging the Earth all over again. They will be deprived of our collective wisdom about how the world works and the best way to manage it. My way is the hard way out. Yours, I think, just absolves responsibility.
And besides, eventually the Earth
will be destroyed. Why not give our species the chance to survive. Eventually we'll either be dead, or an inter-stellar civilisation. If we all die now, the next dominant species (As there can only be one at a time) to come along will have fewer simple resources, and less time in which to develop before they all get cooked. Therefore the chances of life surviving at all after the destruction of Earth are incredibly slim. That includes plants and bacteria and all other kinds of life.
I work hard and i even have done volunairy jobs before that. An unproductive worldview causes no damage. A overproductive one causes a lot of damage. Certainly when it comes to sex. Take one kid instead of three. That is what i am going to do. At least 2 of us will die and 1 will return that means minus one.
Over-productive was not, and is not usually, meant in the context of reproduction. That's just a massive straw man. Nor is it meant in terms of workplace productivity. It is meant in terms of overall contribution to the Earth and Humanity's development as a whole. The misanthropic worldview by default compels its subscribers to do nothing about anything because, well,
what's the point, there's no hope, right? Others at least compel their followers to help out their fellow man, or, even more so recently, work for a better individual, a better world and a better humanity.
