"Hold both shoulder buttons and gently lick the Home/XBox button in a gentle circular manner"

"Press X not to be premature."

Hahahaha

You could have them start making out then go on the bed and turn the lights out, SCENE ENDS, you don't have to show anything explicit but make it look like they're having fun and that they love eachother, that is if you want a proper relationship.

Chalk me up for the not-so-subtly implying it has happened. That way, nobody gets mad about it with any real justification and RPGs can still utilise this tool for making characters seem human and deep

Important is that it should be sensual and gentle.
Not erotic, because....well it just looks like porn.
... Well, speaking from real life experience here, "sensual and gentle" might be the realistic way the first time you have it with a brand new partner. (mostly due to the fact that it's a pretty scary boundary to cross, especially with someone that you truly care about etc. etc.)

But after those first few times, sex tend to be more like it is in porn (in my experience at least).

So if the goal is to emulate realism here, then omitting the "porn-like" stuff wouldn't exactly be the correct way of doing it.

Just sayin'
That was exactly my point yes.

Sex scenes should be removed from all games and left only to implication.

With the exception of Xbox Kinect games because that would be both awkward and funny.

Like a porno meets God of War... Wait that was redundant. :D I think it should be interactive as hell, making all games receive the dreaded "A" rating. A button masher. Yeah with full nudity and penetr-... Maybe thats why i'm not working for a AAA company developing games.

No, sex doesn't really have a place in normal video games. They should remain there own separate industry and only be made and sold in sex shops. None have ever been well done when sex isn't the focus of the game. Most games would be improved if they had that aspect removed and we'd receive less bad press for it. Maybe if developers knew how to write a decent romance, this discussion wouldn't exist.

Simple implication is just fine, honestly.

Anything else just either seems gratuitous or humorous.

Look at Heavy Rain. That sex scene was laughable due to the glitching and collision detection between characters.

Simply implying that sex is there is just fine. Look at the MGS series

In 3, they're rolling around together on the floor while the camera pans away, not showing anything overly explicit.
In 4, Otacon gets pulled into the helicopter by Naomi and the screen fades to black

That is how I personally think it should go anyway :3
A shot of one or two articles of clothing being thrown from off screen isn't misplaced for the particularly thick-skulled. x3

Off screen GOW style or a cutseen like ME/DA. Of course with nudity would be nice.

I do not think sex based mini games would be.... worth while? THo the GOW one is tasteful and funny at teh same time unless your a prud :p

That or a groinal unit to ware out!!

I really liked ME one since in my gameplay it happened really really late in the game and being well immersed after 4 continous hours of playing the scene was well executed, with nudity and proper handling of moment.

It also depends on the characters, and how comfortable they are with their own sexualities, and what they perceive sexuality to be in themselves and in their partner. If you're going to be mature and believable about these scenes, you're going to have to take into account people who are horrified by genitals, people who can't help but giggle when those parts are mentioned, people who get aroused at the slighted provocation, people who take some persuasion... These are dynamics that aren't even TOUCHED upon in games that aren't dedicated entirely to romance/erotica (and as I've never played any that ARE dedicated to that, I can't vouch as to whether or not these dynamics are touched on there or not). Different people react to different propositions differently.

implied sex always makes the romance seem more intimate since I feel too much like a voyeur if there is a scene. Also I find that it deepens the relationship between the characters if its implied than the player and 1 of the characters. A previous example would be the cloud tifa scene at the highwind. I found that seemed quite intimate between Cloud and Tifa taking their relationship to the next level, and no player you can't watch them have their quality time together just come back in the morning.
Also remember the 1 thing more erotic than a breast, is the promise of a breast.
