I believe we may just have a gaming travesty on our hands...

No offence to Americans, but they've done it again.
"We'll find the WORLDS best gamer using only AMERICA'S best contenders.
Pisses me off when American Reality TV shows say this.

Looks like it might be good, but it could be so bad as well.

This is something that was bound to happen and quite frankly I am not the least bit shocked that Sci Fi is hosting this nonsense. Remember the horror that was "Who Wants to be a Superhero". After targeting comic books, it was only a matter of time that video games would be thrown into the mix. The only thing that caught me off guard was the fact that they didn't name the show "Who Wants to be a WCG".

I died a little inside. I really enjoy playing computer games but..... it's not something that is to be taken that seriously. Sometimes I think we need to take a small step back and realise that there's this really good MMO-RPG that started millions of years ago. Really immersive, briliant graphics, AI like no other game... and no monthly payments.... it's called Life. Nothing compares to it.

SO yeah, gamings awesome.. but not THAT awesome.

Holy Shit that looks funny.
Still wondering why the contestants aren't obese acne-riddled american geeks however.

I do like the idea of incorporating what each game is about into a real life challenge. I'd love to play Halo based paintball.

But I gotta agree with SimuLord, competitive gaming doesn't really have a TV market. I don't see how this show could possibly make it to the finale without being canceled.

Did anyone else notice how they mentioned all those gamers from around the world in the beginning, but then revealed that the show only focuses on 14 or however many there were American gamers?

Did I miss something, or is the United States really that arrogant?
I think it has more to do with the fact that its cheaper to fly gamers in the us to calli then it would be to fly gamers from around the world to calli. more about the money then the arrogance

After doing an epic facepalm, I laughed. The Ultimate Gamer? If they really want to find someone that good, I suggest they get them to play Ikaruga, Mushihimesama Futari, Ninja Gaiden, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Metal Slug etc Those games are brutal... I bet they have not even heard of those games and probably would not survive 5 seconds. I would be very surprised if this show became popular.

4 words can explain why this is a fail.

American Gamers on TV

In fact no, replace america with any other nation and the outcome would be the same, you'd have a group of obnoxious gamers who think they're awesome because they can play a console.

Ok, you've mastered the hardest song on expert, now play me the mario theme on guitar.

Twang

FAIL.

I'm actually not surprised. With the more cultrally traditional ideas like singing, dancing, and modeling already taken, and the complete misunderstanding of the video game culture by 90% of TV producers, I'm surprised it took them this long to come up with something like this. You guys have waaaaay to much faith in the TV industry if you were surprised by this garbage.

LOL I wonder if this stupid crap is going to be sponsored by the people who made that lame razor blade for gamers.

I'm sure this was a great idea in someone's head at one stage. But it's impractical. You cannot find 'the best gamer ever' especially from just selecting people from America. People aren't going to watch a pack of sweaty nerds play games for an hour. It's ridiculous.
I thought Big Brother was the rock bottom for TV programming;
It seems as though the rock as split and let this piece of shit fall through.

I vote that they get to play Survival Mode from L4D. With real zombies.
