People like that are on PSN, just none of them have bluetooth, so you can't hear the insults they throw at you.
They could just message me...?
Yes, but that takes time and effort. Quite honestly, I think it was a smart move by Sony not to package mics with the system, only 10 out of 64 people actually have mics on in Resistance 2 and none of them are idiots.

Well playing NHL 09 online is different, they will message you with their disgust.

Been playing Diablo 2, and never have i seen so many (excuse the language) arseholes before! Almost everyone i meet are pricks who has an urge to swear and make rude remarks every two seconds or people who seem nice for a while but then they start being just like the the others.
fix'd.

Honestly, it's like this for everyone, for every online game, all the time.
We exaggerate, we overreact, we say EVERYONE when it's more like 80% or 90% - you'll make some good friends, eventually. And it will take time.

And btw, Diablo 2 is FULL of assholes, so if Xbox live really is worse and you're right?

I'm damn glad I don't have a 360.

I haven't played much XBL, but does CoD4 suffer from douchebag infestation on it? Because, I have noticed that legendary online wave of assbags, that is prophesised to come with online gaming, didn't ever appear on CoD4 PSN. Nor did it come on TF2. For that matter I can't think of many games where I have had much trouble from assholes, be it racist screamers, homophobic rednecks, or high pitched swearers on PSN. I play alot of UT3 on it too. The worst I have ever got to be fair is some annoying git who kept going "Bow chika wow wow" everytime he got a kill.

To be clear. Haven't played much XBL (don't own a 360), played lots of PSN. Have noticed it's fairly quiet, and if people are talking it's not ranting.

well if you just got it then that's what's going on

the first day i had my xbox everyone was cussing each other out
(which made it akward when my mom wanted to hear what everyone was talking about becuase she could hear mumbles through the headset)

but after a few days i got less and less anoying people and more and more people who i can actualy talk to in the game.

ever since party chat the rooms are always quite though

Wow you guys must have really bad luck on Xbox Live. The majority of people that I have played with are not assholes. I've "met" a lot of pretty cool people over Xbox Live. Most of the kids that are twelve and under that I've seen are not whiny children shouting obscenities either. In fact most of the time they are the ones being yelled at for no reason other than their high pitched voice.

Not quite...the only reason why everyone thinks they are idiots, is because the idiots are the loudest ones. There are some good people on live.

Because they are people who have been bullied for being nerds, and they know you can't do anything to stop them shouting. They get a kick out of feeling like they demean you or have power over you. It's a psychological thing if you ask me. Xbox Live is no different really from any other online network I guess you must have had a lucky choice of servers on PSN.
I was bullied for being a nerd and I don't act like them.

Does xbox live really change people? I've never met anyone like this on PSN, so i dont get it!
This is the reason I quit playing Call of Duty 4 online multiplayer.

Anyone you meet on Live that seems like a good dude, make sure you add them too friends. Get about 20 or 30 friends eventually and you'll start always having a few good people to game with almost every time you log in. I met a guy who's name is xChaston, stellar dude. He pretty much became my gaming partner on live and we just slowly built a friends list together and now I always have good people to play with. There are good people on live, there just few and far between.

Just mute them. Or turn off the mic option or something.

That's what I advise my 360 having friends. It's the only way to actually enjoy the games.

Xbox Live and the internet in general attracts people like that.

My current theory is that everyone's an idiot.
That and being anonymous makes people lose their morality usually.

EDIT: I am almost starting to wonder if this is a fanboy rant seeing as every reply is "Why is nobody like this on the PSN".
This comment is definitely a good reflection of your avatar.
Your theory is pretty much what the good 'ol doc would say.

Sad truth mainly because during the first year of the 360 all the 360 owners ( or atleast most of them) became fanboys and dicks over time it changed yet we still have a large majority on their today.

thank god i don't run into them

I don't understand, are you simply generalizing everyone that has an Xbox as an "arsehole" because if so I am insulted.

The amount of people who are on XBL who will make fun of you for being any sort of different is shocking. Have any of you done the experiment where you say that you're gay. the reactions are funny (sorry if this offends people for what ever reason)

Sorry sir, but I think my theory supersedes yours.
RedNog's Theory = 80% of all humans were dropped on their heads as children...The rest are banging their heads on walls to catch up....
