As much as I'd like to have one of every gun in the world, just get me one of these and I will be a happy man.

It may not look like much, but that thing can be loaded with either .45 Colt or .410 shotgun (or both at the same time, if you're feeling badass).
I do like the adaptability of the 'Judge'

Followed the link, was kinda disappointed. I understand the need for adaptability, but it seems like all we're doing nowadays is making modular versions of the same gas-operated rifles we've had around for decades. I'll need to see more innovation than quick-change uppers before I get excited.
Yeah, and I thought that most modern armies have capabilities for long range fire, suppressive fire and close combat at squad level anyways, in the form of designated marksmen, SAW gunners, and soldiers already armed with carbines anyway.

So what is the point of guns like these, when troops are already carrying guns that are purpose built for performming these tasks?
In formal units, yeah, but this would be geared more towards Special Operations groups where versatility is prized over specialization. Still, I'd be more impressed with a gun capable of serving multiple roles without needing to be broken down, instead of one that requires you to carry around an entire AR upper platform. I don't doubt that it's a very competent and useful rifle, but it's hardly a leap in firearm technology on par with what we've seen thus far.
Ah yeah fair point, I can see how it might be useful for special forces bods.

As far as a gun capable of serving multiple roles without needing to be broken down goes, I have no idea how that would be possible within 1 gun. It would have to use at least 2 different kinds of ammunition to be effective at long, mid, and short range combat surely?

I dunno, I think guns like this are about as mutli purpose as you can get within one platform.

American rifles are usually good on the shooting range, but when in warzones the US soldiers prefer trophy AKs... Or so I heard.
Probably bollocks, I doubt their superiours would let them use AKs. They sound like enemy fire, and the US army wont issue it's men with the riht ammo for them.
They did in Nam' anyway. I remember seeing in on a program[/quote]

That was because the original M-16A1 was highly prone to jamming due to a dirtied-up mechanism, and when you're fighting in the jungle, that's all but inevitable. The rifles were also issued without cleaning kits with the justification that the weapon never needed maintenance, which some have asserted was a political move to sabotage the rifle and warrants a criminal investigation. The AK-47s that the Viet Cong were using had much more reliable mechanisms, and rarely jammed, even with a receiver full of mud and sand. It was because of this that trophy AKs became the weapon of choice, but oftentimes soldiers using these weapons were fired upon by their own troops because the sound of an AK firing is very distinct. In modern warzones, where the M-16 and M-4 have been vastly improved to increase reliability and utility, the use of scavenged AKs is highly discouraged, as the distinctive report can lead to false positives on enemy contacts, especially in an area as dangerous and potentially confusing as a city.

That's not to say that nobody uses scavenged AKs anymore, but they are typically reserved for emergency situations. A common instance is for vehicle crews to hang on to folding-stock AKs for emergency use, as they're much easier to maneuver from inside a vehicle than a full-sized assault rifle with a fixed stock.

If I ever come into possession of a Winchester '94, then my life will be complete. I will not rest till I own one. Theyre probably common as muck in the USA, but sadly I doubt that in the UK.

If you need help with that...

Call me old-fashioned, but that rifle is so much sexier than any modern one.
I'm also more of a sword-guy myself, but I'd give a 16th century rapier to own that Winchester.
Glad you agree, that gun oozes pure class, as well as being a living piece of history :D

Are you suggesting you can help me import one? If so, I just need to get a Firearms Certificate on top oy my shotgun certificate... ;)

Also, I'm a shotgun nut, and I love this beast the the British Army have started using, very similar to the M1014 I think, but shown below in the hands of Brit soldiers with an EoTech, a folding front grip and a 8+1 magazine :D

I'm no fan of guns, however if I had the option I would get a fraking portal gun!
or a M134 Minigun, they are neat as well.
I always saw Miniguns as a wast of ammo. Yaa, you just took 300 rounds to cut your enemy in half now what about the enemy sniper outside of your range, that you can not put accurate fire on?

I am not even that big of fan of the SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon), I do see the tactical advantage of having a no-mans land were these weapons are aimed but it just seems like over-kill.
SAW's probably seem like overkill, but I think their main purpose is for supressive fire, they send that much lead downrange to keep the enemies head down.
I have that exact rifle, and though I have yet to shoot it (Technically my dads and I am too young to buy ammo. One more year :D) and I have to say it is utter sex in gun form. Of course I am a big fan of lever actions and revolvers so there you go.

I don't know why but I love the Dragunov SVD, beautiful Russian engineering, easily mass produced cheaply, easy to use for a Sniper Rifle and still not entirely outdated. Also looks so damn kickass!

Things got one hell of a Recoil though

I love studying the roaring 20's and prohibition era gang actvity and as such I've always wanted to get myself a Thompson with a round drum magazine I mean just look at it:
And having had a chance to hold one and slap on the drum mag at a gunshow I want one now more than ever
My love of fire arms isn't limited to the past either I've always liked the look at feel of the FN P90
I could go more into talk about pistols and my inclination toward revolvers but I'll spare you that unless of course your interested

.44 magnum... sorry im a sucker for revolver-type guns :p
Nothing wrong with that. Revolvers are very reliable and less pron to jamming then the semi-auto pistols

I have no care for guns. What i want to know is why do people have a fixation with guns. There was a weapon i would like to have but not for violence but i can't for the life of me remember it. It was featured on future weapons. I just liked the premise of the gun.
Guns are fun. Theyre fun to fire, you can hunt with them, have target competitions with them, all sorts. Guns are a hobby, like fishing or tinkering with cars, hence some people's "fixation" :D

There was a lot of friendly fire in Vietnam due to this very reason..
Also i will only own the pulse gun from Minority Report otherwise i have no need for anything like that :p

Rule 37: There is no "overkill." There is only "open fire" and "time to reload."

Basically, you fire 300 rounds at the enemy to make sure they're dead. And if there's a sniper... well, that's what counter-snipers are for.

Dont forget it hits like a prize fighter.

Ive found a couple of guns I want, and could realisticly get if I had the money.

This is a list of what I want, just off the top of my head. If I spent some time on this, this post would cover several pages.
