It's stupid, very stupid. But you can like a game but not the company that makes it. I'm sure many of us use windows operating systems, but dispise microsoft for it's moneygrabbing and tendency to throw it's weight around. Skyrim is gonna be awesome. Character creation, primarily. If they're sticking to the 'lore' I keep hearing about and dreading, then all of the races from Oblivion will be cast aside so that you can be some random Dragonborn which is just a human with a spiffy name apparently.

I did it for New Vegas but ended up buying it anyways.

I'm not sure what you mean, because there are the same races as in Oblivion, and the character creation is still there. I played the beta on a timed demo, so I didn't really bother messing with sliders, but it looks like you can customise your character just as much as before, and you can still be a Nord or Dark Elf or creepy lizard man.

Quite simply, listen to the escapist podcast about this and they explain it quite clearly. The holders of the IP Zenimax(I think), basically are in a positive where they HAVE to protect it. This is probably not something they want to do but are basically legally required to do it by the way IP works in the US. If your going to boycott, please boycott for informed reasons.

For instance, I am boycotting BF3. Why? Multiple reasons actually. The Origin EULA, no in-game server searching thing and essentially Origin in itself. I have looked up as much info as I can on this and I am not giving them my money because they are basically treating us like thieves. You...have not looked up all information good sir, and should probably do so.

Dude, it was their legal department that did it, not the developers. It's not even made by Bethesda, Obsidian just works for them. It's not like the guy who programs the potions went "WHAT, HE SAID SCROLLS?!, KIIILLLLL". It was the lawyers of the people who publish the game.

I want to start out by saying i am a huge huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and a huge huge fan of Bethesda in general.

Between Fallout 3, Morrowind and Oblivion, I have lost somewhere in the vicinity of 400+ hours of my life.

I am fan. I am huge fan.

And I will not be purchasing Skyrim.

I want to make it clear, I have been lusting for Skyrim since it was announced. All press I have seen looks magnificent. Everything I have heard sounds incredible. It looks like another brilliant Bethesda game that I will subsequently lose a massive portion of my life and time to.

And I will not be purchasing it.

I will not support a company that attempts to use lawsuits as a means of flagrant bullying and outright douchbaggery in order to crush perceived competition.

If Bethesda goes through with this utter horseshit of a frivolous lawsuit, I will no longer support Bethesda.

Even though this means I will never play Skyrim, I will no longer support Bethesda in any way.

I will not purchase their products. I will not play products of theirs that I already own.

I have already sacrificed 400+ hours of work on Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, deleting the games from my hard drive and removing all saves.

Bethesda will make a hundred bajillion dollars off of Skyrim.

Not a single penny of it will be from me.

Buy it used... Seriously, they keep moaning about used sales because they get no money blah blah blah. So you want to play the game but not support the company? Get used. That's what I do with every EA title I want to play, wait for pre-owned then buy it.

If you really wanna hand it to Skyrim while being able to play it, just get it used. Bethesda will never see any of that money and you can still get what you want. Also replace the first half of your speech with CoD, simply because I can't take their bs anymore.

Get Dark Souls instead.
