I think that this is a major problem with the the forums on this site. If someone bashes a religion and openly calls people with faith low lives or retards, it's just business as usual. But when someone tries to defend one of these beliefs, thats when people should get offended. I'm an atheist and I laugh at jokes directed at my beliefs, I have religious friends and we joke about religion all the time.
An off-hand, snide little joke is nothing to get so worked up about and it only shows your immaturity in reacting so poorly to it. If you find religious jokes and "bashing" annoying you should consider not going to boards and threads dedicated to the topics, because that's where it happens.
Furthermore, don't attempt to explain how the English language works to people in some pathetic attempt to sound smart unless you're talking to someone who demonstrates a clear incapability to use the language properly. You'll find, I'm afraid, that I am an English Lit. student and, as such, I probably have a far superior understanding of the language than you do. Key word there is probably, for all I know you could be years ahead of me in the same subject, but in my experience that isn't usually the case. All I'm saying it, be careful, because if you can't back up your language in a debate and you run into someone who can tear you up for it you'll look like a fool.
To touch upon the sex thing, the number of people getting married as virgins is on the rise. Not by much, but it's definitely rising. And not all of us are religious zealots who murder "non-believers". Hell, a couple of my closest friends are atheists, and no problems have arisen because of it. Well for one, I have nothing against atheism. A lot of my friends are atheist and everyone is entitled for their own belief. I just don't like it when the minority of people in atheism or any belief for that matter,feel that their beliefs are superior to others so they think that in turn,they are superior. I apologize if I was misunderstanding with what I was getting at.
