To me, it is poison (cigarettes) vs all natural (marijuana). Cigarettes are extremely bad for the body with many harmful things loaded into them producing a lot of negative side effects, while marijuana has many health benefits, with nearly no negative side effects. You also have to take into account addiction, cigarettes are highly addictive, and damaging, while marijuana does very minimal damage to the body, and has a near zero percent risk of dependency forming. It would be no exaggeration to say that marijuana is probably the safest drug you could put into your body that would be very beneficial when compared to man-made drugs. Not to say this would apply to people with possible allergic reactions of course.

On a some what related note, two idiots tried to smoke a random plant, which just happened to be the poison sumac. It did not end well for them.

Hopefully what I said matches up with the scientific evidence, as multiple US States, and Canada allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes, which from what I have seen are many to say the least.

Pros: None
Cons: Cancer, brain and tissue damage, reduction in athletic performance, addiction, money wasting, jail time, withdrawal, social alienation, exposing others to toxic materials etc.

Note: Cigarette butts are most likely going to be declared a toxic substance in the near future, meaning they will cost more. It is proven that the butts water ecosystems.
All true, except the, "social alienation, withdrawal, addiction, money wasting, jail time"

In some countries it's legal for weed and in most countries it's legal to smoke tobacco products.

sometimes when people don't like smokers vehemently enough to steer clear of them even when they're not smoking, they're not worth knowing in the first place.

Withdrawal and Addiction: If you're consciously aware that nicotine is an addictive substance, then you can do it responsibly and you will not become addicted. And without addiction= no withdrawal.

Money wasting: ANYTHING but food, shelter, and water and clothing are money wasters. Your games, everything.

Another pro, it's 4/20, you get to celebrate a holiday with your fellow stoners.
Social aleination refers to the people you will meet who will not "hang out with a smoker due to their smell, second hand smoke, etc. If someone has a respertory illness they cannot be blamed for having to steer clear.
Cigarettes ARE addictive, the feeling of wanting another even if "responsibly" using them and not becoming "addicted" is still withdrawal.
These are money wasters because of the cost to entertainment value. In my country cigarretes are VERY expensive and the enjoyment is short. As for illegal drugs (In my country) the cost is again high and the money goes to criminals.

The only thing you get from smoking cigarettes is a nice case of cancer.
Exactly, I don't think you can get cancer from plain old weed (unless its laced with something)

Can you get addicted to weed? (if you smoke it moderately, like once a month)
That's one reason it's called a "drug", it's just MORE addictive when laced.

And don't smoke any around me, because I will keel over and die.

I'm asthmatic.
yea no weed isn't addictive like at all. You sometimes might feel like you wanna have a smoke but the same way like you wanna watch tv or play games when your bored.

I rest my case.
Must I really repeat my entire rebuttal. Go back and read my posts, and then reply with a well stated counter-claim. The fact that cigarettes (or actually cigarette smoke) causes cancer is false. Please read my previous posts on this forum, thanks you.
They don't cause nice cancer? You're right, cigarettes are bad! (Somewhere along the lines their was a fault in our communication.)

Pros: Periods of brief psychological gratification via artificial chemical inducement.

Cons: Physical addiction (though weed is arguable), psychological dependence (you come to want that psychological gratification), and subjecting your body and the bodies of those around you to agents which introduce a probability of premature death.

Using drugs recreationally has always been about as smart as bashing yourself over the head with a mallet for the feel of the thing, and is a easy slippery slope for which many souls have never emerged. 'nuff said.

I think they did a test and found Weed a healthier choice then Cigs... I'm sure a quick google search will show you what I'm reffering to.

But OK i'll bite.

Cigs= more addictive, more damage done , legal
Weed= Less Addictive, Less damage done, illegal in some areas.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose weed as I'd only smoke it maybe once a month, where as smokers probably would have a cigg once a day at the very least.

I tend not to be so friendly to those who smoke ciggs/pot.

To restate what someone else said...just get drunk like everyone else.

Lmao I wonder what your point of view on it is. What were you raped by law enforcement and then they said they were just searching for weed? And what are you babbling on about airports for. You're not going to have to take a drug test to get on a plane. Even if they knew you were stoned out of your mind and about to get on a a plane. They cannot charge you with anything unless you are in possession of the actual substance.

Also my friend CLAIMS that weed can kill your brain cells, is this true? (dont laugh if it is true, I know nothing about it....never payed much attention to all those bull shit Drug warnings)
I think your problem here is "bull shit Drug warnings". They're not bullshit... Yes weed can kill (probably will) kill brain cells. It's safer than cigarettes when it comes to the smoking aspect (lungs), but weed does shit to your brain. The most common mental side effect is ending up with something similar to shell shock (post-traumatic stress disorder).

I kind of meant make a list of both, like Ciggys....

then Weed....

Like that
Hokay.

Cigs:
Pros - Slightly increased heart-rate / may make you feel cool / once addicted, fulfilling the addiction is reward in itself.
Cons - Price / Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known / Cancer / Causes you to smell like cigarettes / Gradually becoming unacceptable in society.

Weed:
Pros - Can get you high / Not quite as bad for you as other drugs / Jail sentences for marijuana related crimes are often lower than those associated with other drugs.
Cons - Greater risk of cancer (per usage) due to lack of filters / Paranoia / Other mental diseases / smells strongly / Good luck getting through an airport if you've even been near any in the last month or so / Suspicion of possession may lead you to get the fingers of law enforcement officials inserted into your anus.

In short - Just get drunk like everyone else.

Because some airports use dogs, and if the dogs smell it, you are going to spend a bit of time with the security men. Could they arrest you? Probably not. But you will be missing a flight or too.

But current medical tests used to show brain damage show no brain damage from long term marijuana usage. The thought that it could kill brain cells, i.e. brain damage was mere speculation from an earlier report dating over a quarter of a century ago that has never been supported by any scientific study..

I've never had an issue with it. I tend to wash my clothes every few days or so. And I doubt that the security is going to do anymore than search your belongings. If you don't have anything on you there isn't anything they can do. Its not like they are gonna keep you in the back for hours interrogating you about whether your high. You'd think they would have worse things to worry about.

Not to mentioned stained teeth and a horrible smell, and you get that from both.

Edit: If I have to put a pro in then I guess you can say looking cool is one, but lets face it stogies are better for that.

No. Last I checked, there are no addictive qualities in weed.

And I was going to edit this into my last post, but I'll just do it here.

Pros for weed, well there are quite a few actually. For one, it's been shown to be an effective treatment for cancer, as in it greatly reduces the size of cancerous tumors, and as for cons of weed....well I can't really think of any
Weed can indeed cause cancer. The simple fact is that humans simply weren't meant to take anything other than air into their lungs. It does the exact same thing to your lungs that tobacco smoke does and possibly even moreso due to the fact that a big 'ol blunt is rarely (if ever) filtered.

Weed is also addictive. I have seen people develop a dependency on it. The simple fact is that people get used to and want the greater high. Once people get that experience, they keep wanting it. I believe it's called a psychotropic addiction. Weed causes people to become dependent on the feeling and state of being it produces and not so much the chemical itself. To say it is not addictive is not entirely true.

It's also not too good for the brain either - at least in the long run.

While marijuana can in fact cause tumors to shrink, it can also create serious different health problems of its own - including cancer.
