i have played ALLOT of bad games and trust me when i say that.
the absolute worst ones fade from my memory at the moment, like a repressed memory..
the only "bad game" i can think of off the top of my head is dragon age: origins, mostly
because of atmosphere. HOW can a game trying to be Tolkien-Esq fantasy get all the voice actors and cultures SO VERY WRONG? by all means dragon age origins in almost every other aspect
was a terrific game, but too little to late dragon age, you force fed me your horrible plot before i got to play the damn game and i hated it then on. also i hate turn based rpg combat,
which essentially was what dragon age had.
by no means was it a bad game, i just hated it with a burning passion.

Of all time? Eh.... Castlevania 64. This was when I was but a wee lad, and the internet was something out of sci-fi movies, so I didn't know any better. Man, talk about broken. I actually kind of liked the atmosphere of it too, so I got about half way through, but the game literally didn't let me go any further at a certain point.

This. This was some stupid shit.
Me and my brother only rented it because we saw the Back to the Future section on the back of the box. We didn't last that long.

I may catch flak for it, but I'll say it. Mass Effect 2. I -loathe- that game. The entire time I played it, I felt like I was going from planet to planet simply to take inventory. Like I was a store director who popped in every once and awhile to see if they kept up to date on the number of frozen fish sticks a store must have. The combat was broken, I was picking people off before they even got to get to cover, and I did not like the story.

And for the biggest reasons, the hype and fans. People talk about Mass Effect 2 like it's the golden cup of Zeus. The game to end all games, and if you dare think there's a better game then you're stupid. Well, I must be a brain dead moose, because I found it uninteresting. Even the almighty hailed "kill or convert" mission which fell flatter than a brick on Jupiter.

Needless to say, it was only interesting slightly because it's in space, but if I learned anything from it, if we someday do learn that we have colonized Mars, I will never listen to the over excitement of how good the water is there, and when I do get there, the water is really liquified alien fossil urine.

Edit: I think the only runners up are Eve Online and Demon's Soul.

I find some of these answers a little hard to believe...Oblivion? Half life 1 and 2? I can see not liking some of these games, but to call them the worst one you ever played seems like a bit of a stretch. I'm not suggesting people are lying about hating them, but I do think you can probably sort of see that they aren't horrible games, to the extent that can be somehow objectively quantified.

I'm going to go with Final Fantasy 13. I've probably played something worse, but I don't really remember really bad games and I don't tend to play them for as long as I played FF 13.

Threads like this bore the crap out of me. This has been done, many, many, times.

Ugh.

Velvet Assassin was pretty bad. I didn't enjoy it at all. It tried too hard to be Splinter Cell, and fell flat on its ass.

Master of Orion III. So buggy and broken it can hardly be called a game.

Super Smash Bros Melee. Yeah, that's right fanboys, I said Smash Bros. Having never played it before, I was able to nearly tie my brother-in-law, who played the game to excess. A "fighting game" in which button-mashing is just as likely to result in victory as intelligent play is not worth my time.

Condemned 2, which, ironically, also contains my most favorite level of any game ever: Preston Hotel. Scared the living shit out of me.
Really? I love that game, sure not as good as the first but still pretty solid.

OT: Ninety nine nights 2 was pretty bad. Its a shame since I want a game that is huge like that except good.

wow all you people making me feel old with those answers, did none of you own an nes?
anyway, i'll put a few gag-worthies that i've played (i actually owned all of these)

Fester's Quest - NES
Day Dreamin' Davey - NES
The Adventures of Bayou Billy - NES
Chronicles of the Sword - PSX
100% yes to Fester's Quest. Though I will add Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Battle Toads because I'm not sure which I hated more. Best game ever on NES was Totally Rad though. I remember playing that endlessly.

For my old Atari I would say worst was ET.
SNES was probably Super Star Wars. I wanted to love it, but wow....
Playstation Croc I don't even know where to begin on that one.

More recently, I'd say it is Fallout 3. Out of all the hundreds of games I have bought over the years, the 90 on my steam account, and the shelves and boxes full of boxed retail games, it is the only, and I stress only one, I cannot play for more than 5 minutes without wanting to take a drill to my head.

Biggest disappointment ever in gaming was the abomination that was Command and Conquer 4 Tiberium Twilight.

The worst game I've ever played is easily Black Ops.
I've played single player and multiplayer a combined grand total of 7 hours, and I feel like I just wasted my money.
I had absolutely no fun playing it at all, and the story was just so schizophrenic that I could not enjoy it at all.
That and multiplayer was just as bad as MW2.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Star Fox: Adventures has got to be the worst game I've ever played. I've played E.T. for the Atari 2600 as well as Haunted House, however I knew that those games were bad from the get-go and thus, they did not have the same effect.

SF: Adventures was a game I tried to enjoy even though I had to leave a play-through script open the whole time just so I could find out where the hell I was supposed to go. It was the General Scales "fight" that pissed me off. You don't fight him, you just get ready to kick his ass and then you're immediately launched into a stupid cut-scene where the General dies. %@$#%&* that game.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring on the SNES. That game is not only frustratingly impossible, but its boring as hell too. Played it as a kid, then tried again more recently and just ended up swearing repeadedly about how bad the game was.

You kids have it easy, if the worst thing you ever played was a mediocre AAA title you're actually doing pretty well.

E.T. for the Atari 2600
Most people say it's bad so I had to see for myself. After 2 minutes I played Face of Mankind on the PC just so I could kill myself.

Lol @ people in this thread listing games like Call of Duty and Halo as their worst ever, please get over yourselves and your bloody pretentiousness.

I've played Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing, so I win this thread.
