No its not wrong for a man to cry especially at funeral's. What can be a bit odd is guys who cry at every slight problem.

I have no problem with it, being all equality for the genders and all, but it's still not socially acceptable.

If a guy's crying without privacy, there's either a very good reason (death being a good one) or they're going to get called on it later. Hell, even then, in most circumstances it's expected for you to compose yourself.

Of course it's not wrong. Anyone who claims that it is can take their overcompensating macho bogus and jump down a well.

I'd also be inclined to ask: Wrong in what way? Morally wrong or what kind of wrong are we talking about here?

Just out of curiosity; how so?

I was tearful this morning reading a particularly sad ending to a book. It takes more courage for a man to be open about his emotions than to hide them.

Sometimes, you just need to cry. So no, I think it isn't wrong to cry as a man. I do it all the time. Titanic gets me sometimes, it's sad.

No, and I think its fucking disgusting how men are programmed to be soulless robots in that way.
Soulless no....I think all real men know that crying occasionally is good...but there needs to be a reason...a good legemiate reason. But if the reason is not good enough, you need to stand up and keep going.

I'm too manly to care if some broad sees me crying.
Hell yes.

Which shows more weakness, to hide your emotions in fear that someone might judge you or show them and to hell with who takes exception.

Last time I knew hiding who you are out of fear made you a pussy regardless of your gender.

I cry at the drop of a hat, basically.
Well then, good sir, brace yourself because I have a funny hat collection just begging to be hurled to the ground!

OT: If something genuinely bad has happened to you, fine. If you're watching a heart renching movie (personally for me, Up and Toy Story 3. SHHH! Don't judge me!) also fine. If it's something tiny and insignificant, like someone played a prank on you, not fine. If something bad has happened to someone else who needs your support, not fine, sack up.

It's all right as long as they're manly tears.

Seriously though, as everything, crying shouldn't be abused and it'll be fine.
Oh God. You... you just linked to tvtropes. Screw you! I have homework to do tonight!

OT: I rarely cry, only if something real bad happens. That seems to be the norm for everyone I know.

Of course it's not wrong. At least in certain situations. Nobody likes a crybaby after all, especially when that crybaby is a mature adult. And excessive crying... well I'd be asking the fella what's wrong and maybe he needs to see a doctor for depression or something.

But there's no reason why one can't express their emotions over the passing of someone close, a sight/sound/smell/taste so magnificient only tears can express your joy, a wistful memory or when you've been helping out in the yard and something drops on your foot.

While I have been emotionally moved by profound displays of art in the mediums of film, music and gaming I can't recall any time it has brought me to tears, although a few have come close. Doing so however, is perfectly fine I'm not prone to crying very often the last time in fact being over a year ago after a revelation I don't wish to disclose but it is perfectly understandable that people need to vent especially considering most people will have had to face far more severe tribulation in their lives than me. In short no, it is not wrong. Christ, my lengthy expositing is even worse than Kojima.

It's not wrong of course, if you have tears to shed then go for it.

Be warned: women say they like it when a man cries, but they don't. Do it on your own time.

I'll shed an occasional tear with a particularly good piece of music, or emotional movie, but can't say I've cried in decades, even though I've had plenty to cry about.

There's no problem with a man crying, in fact, it shows he's a sensible being with emotions that can be shattered, just like anyone else's.
And if a girl thinks that a guy is less of a man when he cries, she reached a level of sexism and stupidity far beyond any other. The fact that a guy cries more often merely shows that he is more sensitive than other men.
