For me,around 80% of what i hear for the first few seconds sounds good. After a couple of minutes listening to most songs, this falls to around 50%. When i ask myself "is this good music?" 90% of the time, it isn't.
I've never heard of this before now...G1eet said:Ahh, it's good to see another reluctant fan of that band. I used to listen to that album like there was no tomorrow.Gilbert Munch said:Funny you mention that. Normally I'd be inclined to agree, but in the last 2 days I've been listening to Outkast's Speakerboxx/ The Love Below.Sean B. said:Listen to any rap song and you will know what bad music is.Gilbert Munch said:... or is it just music that you don't like?
It was something that I was thinking about today. In one of the rooms at school that I was in during break, someone was playing the song 'Sexy *****' by... someone. Akon, I think. Anyway, the lyrics include such gems as 'I'm trying to find the words to describe this girl without being disrespectful!'. He then goes on to tediously repeat the words 'Sexy *****. Sexy *****.' Over and over again. Just after telling her that he wouldn't be disrespectful. Yeah. I realise that this could be a painful attempt at irony, but I realised that I couldn't listen to this crap for ages.
The thing that got me, though, was that people in the same room appeared to enjoying it. Actually enjoying this turd.mp3! 'Why can't they just listen to my music?', I thought? Then that led me thinking... if I put on an iPod with Modest Mouse or They Might be Giants playing would the people who enjoyed 'Sexy *****' think the same thing? 'God, this music is awful!'.
So, that leads me to my question: can any music be considered bad, or is it just not for you?
To a certain extent I agree, but then there is that certain kind of pop-rap/techno music that I absolutely loath. But, I've said a lot in my post, so, your go?
I hate gangsta rap. This is rap, and I love it.
And then tomorrow came. Then I started listening to metal, which canceled rap out in my head.I'll see your terrible Regina Spektor and raise you one technocore (calm down, I just don't know what the fuck to call it) song!Archaon6044 said:yes there is, and here is my evidence

you stole the words out of my mouth (you have cold hands).xmetatr0nx said:Well define bad in the first place, Pop is meant for sales, period. For the most part it is successful in that, so to those with interest in it its not "bad"...Now if you get a room filled with composers, i doubt they would call anything "bad music" maybe poorly put together/arranged.
Also this.Gxas said:Everyone likes a certain kind of music, and hates another. I know many people who love Kanye West, Jay-Z, etc. and cannot stand the music that I listen to. Bad is all a matter of opinion. So I guess your answer would be no.
