Personally, I tend to be guilty of the opposite view: yaoi is awesome, but show me some yuri and the first word out of my mouth is "gross!".

As for the actual support/hate issue, as people on this forum should have gotten by now, I am a religious person, so my views on homosexuality are rather decided. And no, I'm not going to change them because of my personal preference for yaoi. That would be hypocrisy of the kind you decry in this thread.

Of course, I live in the US, so I believe in separation of church and state. I can do what I want over here, but that doesn't effect the legislators granting rights to people. So, essentially, my personal, political, and religious views are three different things.

I'm going to realize my own fractured mentality soon, so I better leave this thread.

Personally I think both versions of Homosexuality are gross, but I have no qualms with Homosexuals. I just wish they would stop getting mad when I tell them the truth, that most "polar" cases of homosexuality (i.e. completely gay) are caused by brain malformations, wherein the gender in question will have a brain the shape of the opposite sex's.

To be honest, I don't support the 'brain malformation' science behind gay people, yes, I am a gay male, but god damn I'm not 'malformed' or 'retarded'. I have a job, AND I have a good circle of friends, straight, bi & gay. If anything, you're doing the same thing they did in the thirties. 'Women can't be smart because their wombs will shrink' but this time it's 'People can't be gay unless it's a brain problem, or unless they hate god and jesus'. So what? We like other males, good god. How is that gross? Because we do not fit into your stereotypical 'Mmmm nice rack' attraction? And another thing, I'm sick of the stereotype that gay people are weak and girly. A gay rugby league (or union, I forgot which code it was)player beat up the whole french rugby team, basically by himself.

In the end, if I were to dumb it down (as I do not like comparing love and such to trivial things like my example) we just like a different flavor of ice cream, you like strawberry, we like vanilla, as it comes naturally to our pre-made tastes.

I feel quite insulted you're including the whole wide world in this statement. Here in Britain, gay-marriage under the term civil union is perfectly legal and a non-issue. No-one puts these bumper stickers on you talk about.

I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but I reckon most of them are fine with it too (especially Holland, pretty much the land of 'anything goes').

Did they actually think that back then? Good god, I can understand the jokes about a woman's brains being in her breasts (and have met a few that could apply to), but normally a woman's brain isn't anywhere near the womb! Wow, that was obviously the same medical train of thought that told young boys that prayer and ice to the genitals would prevent nocturnal emissions.

Ah The Netherlands. I know it well.

And it's a country where 'anything goes' because it has the attitude that we can tolerate anything as long as we don't have to do it ourselves.
Sure it has an upside, but don't forget it's the dutch mentality that led to South Africa's Apartheid regime.

'We will allow you to do whatever you want, but you have to keep away from the rest of us'.
