Whatever, though; the VSTOL idea has been played with a lot in sci-fi. It's a generic design; I just want to point out that Cameron is the first to use it in a blockbuster.

He built and designed most of the ships and vehicles in Aliens. He's a fairly well known inventor, and his films usually bring something new to cinema. Wait Im a Halo fan and this is the first Ive heard of comparasons to Avatar. Maybe some of the vehicles (the scorpian simliar to the hornet?)
I think James Cameron is blowing this out of proportion as is whoever is saying Avatar is ripping off Halo.

I wonder if people realize that James Cameron came up with the Space Marine with "Aliens" back in the 80's.
